Quirky but endearing Cinderella
magnoliacream1 October 2022
This is about simple, innocent and guileless Xue Shanshan, a new accounting assistant at a large corporation, who attracts the attention of the company CEO Feng Teng, when she donated her rare blood to his sister whose life was on the line while delivering her first baby.

The romance between Shanshan and Feng Teng becomes fodder for office gossip with Shanshan receiving much criticism and barbed remarks about her unsuitability and unworthiness of being Feng Teng's girlfriend. Feng Teng tries to help as much as he can in the background, unknown to Shanshan, to avoid more gossip.

This version of Cinderella is realistic, showing the difficulties that both sides of a couple with severely disparate backgrounds face.

Good portrayal of male lead
debbiecheryllayne11 October 2022
Smoother than butter. The malee lead, the consistency of his character, some of the subplots are worth the watch. Some may laugh but after a degree in English Literature, and being raised with Hollywood and British TV, I have had to read and reread atrocious books that some call classics. I am also a romance novel junkie, so books without saIt, pepper, herbs and spice I have read. Builds up the very best tolerance for crap.

Sorry. I am a consumer. Black. White educated. "Tired" world inhabitant. Female. Endurance, and sacrifice is the name of my game. My sister asked me to watch this. But the male Lead was intriguing from episode one. Female lead/ role has highlights but I am unconvinced of some of the things the creators claim. That sgd ix hard worker is well documented. However, I can't believe she passed CPA within a year. Running jewelry store is a hard sell. Creative choice and intent understood, but transition without transformation is both incredulous in art and dangerous in real life. Equality gas more to do with personal self worth or self-esteem than reputation or the judgment of others. A change of job to prove equality then to relinquish it for personal harmony is pointless. Popularity and intelligence are unrelated .

Furthermore, the personal ideas of lead female character are a hodgepodge of assumptions, presumption and bad friendly advice- a 1001 reasons not to watch BET or lifetime. Then condemnation of male lead for a lie after female lead has already told too many lies to trace is a common fallacy of feminist sympathetic discourse in film.

But must a work be rejected full scale just because of blatant folly in one choice? New or unknown talent, in front of and behind the screen, must be given the chance to make or to present their argument for being given an audience. Gives better opportunity to learn more about other cultures, societies and the creative process inherent to different television industries. Thank you covid. Different world views facilitate ease of change in personal perspective and adjusting to manifold ways of telling a tale destroys prejudices, conscious and unconscious, by only watching the work of one TV industry.

Feng Teng holds his own. He chooses a mate for personal comfort and not social expectations, facilitating evolution of a better man and leader. Credit must be given to director, writer and supporting cast and crew for being singular in objective and maintaining audience's gaze.

Loved wardrobe - to be fascinated by winter and autumn clothing is new to me and only developed after seeing wardrobes for male actors. The men capture your gaze but female wardrobe prolongs it. Began with Korean actors but Chinese sustained admiration. But the timbre of some of the male voices is exceptional and induces a drug like effect.

Smile. Transitioning between intelligent viewing to being downright silly in personal taste is a hoot. When your frame of mind consistently changes it allows you to see and appreciate more. You also recognize that learning can take place in any mindset. As a teacher of young children this inspires and refreshes motivation.

A beautiful drama with a great character development..
jessicajudge-894353 April 2020
Boss and me is such a beautiful drama. Well written. The character development is amazing, from the 1st to the last episode we can actually see how our chubby Shan Shan has matured into a wonderful woman. The way Feng Teng supported her throughout the drama, it's commendable. He helped Shan Shan discover herself better and she developed the confidence so that she could call herself Feng Teng's girlfriend proudly to the whole world. Thank you for this beautiful story.. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Irtitating
judibcats14 January 2022
Story of a girl in her 20's that mentally about 16, with know it all friends that are experts on everything romance. The usual hand of bullies in the office and interfering family and friends and lead actress acts mentally retarded most of the time. A boss that is sadist and obviously secretly is a misogynist, full blown.

A sweet drama
Anry72 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I had previously read the book and wanted to really watch this movie. I do have to warn that the drama was slight different from the book. It starts off the same as the book but then you start noticing some of the changes. I did really love the drama and like the book Xue Shan Shan is very naive and a sweetheart to those around her. Feng Teng is the Big Boss that is demanding but does a lot of behind the scenes stuff for Shan Shan. There were times were I got frustrated with the supporting cast characters, especially Li Shue, however it was still a romantic drama. You will really enjoy this drama. I recommend you watch it.

Waif Idiot
solomon112127 January 2022
Predictable script, but could have been enjoyable nevertheless if they hadn't made the main character an intellectually vapid idiot waif. She's supposed to be cute, but she's an infantile fool instead. And dumb. Or did I already say that? If she had been capable, it would have been worlds better and the romance would have been understandable. Male lead was entirely devoid of charm, though probably not the actor's fault.

Pleasantly surprised
shareen_shany25 February 2022
Watched all 33 episodes! All in all a beautiful love story actually. The love triangle, complex & complicated. Beautiful ending! Awesome chemistry between the leads casts & fantastic supporting casts!

In the beginning it's rather annoying as it drags on about an immature, naive, cute & sweet 23 year old woman who has a child mentality, daydream all the time, talk to herself all the time in her brain, talks without thinking most of the time & childish!

She can be immature, can't read the situation, doesn't realised Lishu is in love with the boss /her boyfriend, She doesn't know when to mind her business, She embarrasses herself, wrong attire for different occasions, get herself drunk at the most inappropriate events.

In the beginning the story is good but it drags & getting tired of her character but as her attire, look & hairstyle change, she looks adorable & pretty, the storyline changes to a more mature. Her character changes to.

Then the boss/the boyfriend who treats her hot & cold most of the time. Next to egoistic & domineering.

His sister is sweet, trendy, stylish, pretty, sexy & adorable to look at!

The boss bestfriend sweet, thoughtful, handsome & charming!

Then there's the boyfriend secret unrequired first love, as the boss calls her little sister Lishu who is in love with Feng Teng the boss for the last 12 years! In the beginning she is deceitful, spiteful, insidious even after been rejected.

In office is a non-stop gossip! It's like a culture!

The last few episodes are interesting, Shanshan the lead is gutsy, pretty & smart. Feng Teng the boss handsome when he smiles & lovable. Lishu more matured & nice. The boss bestfriend the same, charming. The little sister the same adorable.

All in all worth watching! There are tears of sadness & happiness! Especially a couple of scenes when it's funny, tears of laughter!

Boss and Me
ajfuller51-785-39922320 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
OMG! I am enchanted by this series. I am watching from the beginning for the fourth consectutive time!

The actors are outstanding; their facial expressions demeanor, and chemistry are award worthy. Feng Teng and Xue Shanshan are so believable. I love watching them together. Although, Linshu is my least favorite character, the actress did a noteworthy portrayal of her.

I enjoyed watching Shanshan's development throughout each episode; she was so fun and likeable. The "Boss" was so rigid and straight forward, but he could not resist Shanshan's "easy going" personality and charm. Appears like he became interested in her from the very beginning, but he is the top person in this company, and she is a newly-hired finance assistant. Feng Teng becomes attracted to Shanshan because of her innocent nature. (He described her as "appetizing.")

SPOILERS: Shanshan is a blood donor for Feng Teng's sister because they both have a rare bood type. He meets her at the hospital, but he becomes intrigued by her while interacting with her at his company. They cross paths a lot!

Feng Yue sends "blood building" lunch boxes to Shanshan, causing lots if gossip and curiousity about Shanshan's connection to the three higher-level people in the Wind Group. Because of the gossip Shanshan starts eating lunch on the "Boss's" balcony. Meanwhile, Feng Teng is observing her at lunch, and he starts to look forward to seeing her. Shanshan has a crush on Handsome Qi, R&D Director in the company, so she is dreaming about what life would be if he liked her, not knowing the Boss is watching her.

Lunch boxes and gossip keep flowing. Teng Feng ups his game by having Shanshan eat lunches in his office, under the guise of her picking carrots from his food. They start talking and eating together every day. The Boss is making every opportunity to spend time with Shanshan. Teng Feng is falling in love with Shanshan, but he knows this is a concern. Before he confesses his feelings, Linshu, a childhood friend who is in love with Feng Teng, shows up. Linshu sees Feng Teng has feelings for Shanshan, and she is determined to make Feng Teng aware Shanshan is not right for him.

The Show continues with numerous incidents wherein Shanshan is involved in awkward and troublesome situations.

----- The writers are phenomenal! My interest stayed piqued throughout each episode.

----- CONS: Although I love this series, I didn't like the items below:

"England" atmosphere felt fake. The hotel people spoke with a foreign English accent; not British. The people working in the hotel and on the streets appeared Scandinavian; blond hair, blue eyes, gangly. Most importantly, the use of two brown-skinned males to be the vagrant attackers was offensive.

"Open" office and party gossip was overused. A large company would not tolerate this type bullying.

----- Overall, this Show is now my #1 Cdrama. Well worth watching (and rewatching, in my case).

Could not make it through all episodes
ladybugb-1286512 March 2022
This show is so boring. It so slow moving and nothing exciting happens. The female lead is so immature that it is painful to watch. The male lead is so dull. I find their relationship to be very unbelievable. I tried to stick it out but only made it about halfway through the series.

I liked it
stews-9038529 January 2022
The drama started out a bit slow. But as I continued to watch I was drawn in. I admired Feng Teng love and tolerance for Shanshan. Yes, she was flaky, immature yet genuine, kind and has a pure heart. I adored his irresistible manner. And her blonde root character. Adorable.

All that is missing is the glass slipper
geewhiz4624 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Shan Shan - a not too bright young woman gets a job in the finance department of a large firm - simply because she has the same rare blood group as Feng-Teng, the Ceo's, sister

Feng-Ten seems cold and lonely and becomes interested in her when for some reason she starts taking her lunch to the area outside his office. It never occurs to her that someone might be in that office behind the venetian blinds. Her behaviour there is very childish and it is hard to see how a sophisticated man would be attracted to her - especially as the make-up department decided to craft Shan Shan's eyebrows the way they did - they were a constant distraction.

Shan Shan was originally infatuated with Handsome Qi - Feng-Teng's long-time friend and colleague - but he disappoints her with his constant womanising.

Feng Teng and Shan Shan grow closer as time goes on. She is aware of her intellectual shortcomings and decides to take a test to improve her position. This isn't plausible - the test doesn't convey intelligence - it merely confirms it.

Anyway, she passes it of course.

I also found it unlikely how all the other office females were thrilled for Shan Shan's successful relationship with their boss - it is far more likely that they would be jealous and exclude her from their clique.

Later in their relationship her cousin Liuliu persuades her to suggest a business idea to Feng Teng which she does - but it loses a lot of money.

Meanwhile there is a rival for his affections - Li-Shu a girl he grew up with and lived with as a sister - she has been in love with him for years.

She tricks Shan Shan into making a fool of herself at an important meeting. This was just silly. Any woman would be immediately aware of how ridiculous she looked and Feng-Ten would have been furious with her instead of just giving her a quizzical look in passing.

Lishu - in the face of Feng Teng's obvious feelings for Shan Shan decides to give him up and kisses him goodbye - of course Shan Shan witnesses this and the result is obvious.

Next thing you know Shan Shan has left the firm and is running a jewellery business - this was beyond belief - but it is common in rom-coms to raise the status of the heroine by fair means or foul. As she was first portrayed there was no way she would fit in with a wealthy family - she didn't even have any table manners let alone any inkling on how to deal with high class people. She would have continued to be an embarrassment to him because her intellect would never have changed.

The ending was anti-climactic - a disappointment after a long viewing time.
