The Wynkahthu Job
lassegalsgaard3 January 2020
I have a hard time with these episodes. I get making an episode that is solely based on having fun and being there for the younger viewers, but thinking about the episode with the rest of the narrative in perspective, it was just a complete lack of anything. It seems like an adventure that these heroes wouldn't have at this time, even though there were something in there to help the alliance in their strengths. So it wasn't a complete failure, and there were certain things I liked about the episode. The humor was mostly there, even though Azmorigan is still a horrible and irritating character. Still not sure how I feel about Hondo, but the final scene was quite funny, and possibly the best he has been in this entire series so far. Overall, the episode was enjoyable enough to keep me slightly entertained for the entire runtime, but I don't understand why we keep dwelling in these unimportant episodes. I hope that we'll get back to the bone of the story soon and I especially hope that Thrawn will get some time to shine, because he hasn't gotten a lot of that so far in this season.

Filler the Force
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic19 October 2020
This is very much a filler with the crew joining forces with both Hondo and Azmorigan to carry out the theft of some useful Imperial cargo.

This is fun but not is just a diversion from the overall story. It has good bits but also bits which are too over the top.

My rating: 6/10.

In desperate need of a course correction
Fluke_Skywalker27 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Plot; The crew of The Ghost team up with scoundrels Hondo and Azmorigan to raid an abandoned and doomed Imperial cargo ship.

*sigh* S3 of Rebels has officially slid headfirst into a giant puddle of brackish, unfocused mediocrity, going off on increasingly dull tangents instead of moving the larger narrative ball down the field. Going back to the Hondo well seems desperate and the bloom is most definitely off the rose for this less is more character.

Where's the bigger story? The character arcs? This is suitable filler, but the problem is that you could say the same thing about the entire season thus far.

Quite entertaining
emilianogd18 February 2021
A good chapter after all! quite entertaining, whenever Hondo is on screen it ends up being an acceptable chapter Here we can see the design origin of the Dark troopers later in the Mandalorian, the sentinel droids that appear in this chapter are less lethal but very similar to them

Watchable
Trey_Trebuchet3 June 2022
Grrr I hate it when I call Star Wars watchable. Hondo was such a fun character in The Clone Wars, but I don't seem to be enjoying him quite as much here. He has his moments though, some of them pretty funny.

This episode will probably be relatively important down the road, but it's just watchable to me. I didn't really care much for anything here, save for some wonderful animation and action.

Fine.

If it's got Hando, it's a good time.

He's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like Hando. He's sort of the anti-hero of Star Wars, dodgy and always in it for himself, but funny as hell and such a smooth talker. I snicker and laugh at almost all of Hando's lines. He comedic timing is amazing. AP-5's dry sense of humour is gold too. Great ep.

Fun -- but completely lacking in character and depth
those_who_dig26 November 2016
From my five-star rating, you probably think I didn't really like this episode. That isn't necessarily true. "The Wynkahthu Job" would fit quite nicely as one of the first episodes in Season 1 - a time when we're getting to know the Rebels, their world, and their enemy. The action sequences are rather entertaining, and are on par with many of the fight scenes in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". My problem is with how ill-timed this episode is. The crew recently encountered Darth Maul; Kanan is afflicted with blindness when his leadership is needed most; we're introduced to two very interesting characters - Thrawn and Bendu; Ezra's exposure to a Sith Holocron prompted his questioning of the Jedi teachings, and we don't know the fate of Ahsoka Tano. There should be much more dramatic weight at this point in the show; a lot of time has been invested in character development, and it's beginning to seem squandered. I don't know if the "Star Wars Rebels" writers have been encouraged to "dumb-down" the show because it doesn't have the adult following that "The Clone Wars" had. I hope that isn't the case. Including "The Wynkahthu Job", the last three episodes of this show have just been filler. In fact, of the eight episodes aired in this season, I believe only three or possibly four (I'm ambivalent about "Hera's Heroes" have been substantial. The creative talents behind "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" seemed able to balance a multitude of plots *and* deliver great action - yet I'm struggling to work out what the story of "Rebels" is, beyond the increasingly drawn-out and vague message of "We have to stop the Empire!".

They got Proton bombs now! That's pretty important! I understand if u watch weekly u want something big to happen all the time! Well get a life let a few episodes are in a row then binge those! Quit crying about everything! When u rewatch it on blu Ray! Most of u would see this episode and other filler episodes are really good!
