The Right Thing to Do (#1.11)
ComedyFan20106 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
An episode about making hard decisions that are right. And only Kevin voices it the way it is "sometimes one has to do the right thing even if one doesn't want it". But in his situation it actually wasn't right. Sloane hearing it must have felt horrible. It is better for somebody to leave you then staying while they don't want to. William's decision was sure the hardest. The decision to stop chemo and get ready for his death with Randall making the decision to support him even though it is not what he wants as well. The past story of Jack trying to get money to afford having triplets was also very good.

Martyrs Are Stupid.

Warning: Spoilers
Not sure why Kevin had to qualify his statement to Olivia about the right thing not being the thing he wants...did he say it to make Olivia feel better about his choosing Sloane over her? Because Kevin is above all self serving. He wouldn't have chosen Sloane if he didn't want to do it, I mean...has Sloane MET Kevin...? ha ha

That out of the way: Why didn't Jack just tell the truth about what he needed the money for??? Why make it some stupid semantics game about gambling? I have had people in my life do stupid things like this, and I'm sorry: There is ZERO anything admirable about being a self sabotaging martyr. If he KNEW he wasn't going to accept the money for the triplets, why waste everyone's time?? Was he testing his father's love...? Seriously, after all he KNOWS about the man, THIS is what he does...? Oh please, I can't. That was incredibly STUPID. If there was a slight chance to get his family out of the situation that they were in, tell the bloody truth and say it's for the old monster's grandbabies and all move along. But no. Let's sacrifice for the fun of sacrificing (said no one ever), and put the wife and triplets--while brewing inside their mother--into yet another unloving unsupportive situation with even MORE old monsters?? No. Sorry.

It is never a good idea to place a pregnant woman in a situation where the babies will be brewing in hateful waters. If this is where this goes, then it wouldn't surprise me that the one baby died. Hung itself in utero. Little things matter when they are in there. Go see the flick We Need to Talk About Kevin. (Not this Kevin.)

Warning: Spoilers
William continues to try to be brave with his friend, not putting more pressure on the family. Randall realizes that there are certain things that are above anything else. William is in extraordinary pain and the chemo is causing so much of it. He and Randall come to a decision. We go into flashback again. Rebecca's mother is a virago. When she find out that triplets are on the way, she pretty much decides to sabotage the marriage. Jack makes a commitment but doesn't have the resources. He goes to his abusive father and pretends he needs money to pay off a gambling debt. He sells his car. And he buys a house he has been working on. Kate sees a surgeon about a stomach staple, which sound like true horror on earth. Toby has what appears to be a heart attack and then resists having a surgical procedure. He collapsed at the end of the last episode during a Christmas visit. Kevin and Sloan are doing great in the play, but Olivia returns in dramatic fashion. Kevin does a rotten job concerning Sloan. Should be interesting.
