The Best Washing Machine in the Whole World (#1.7)

The best in this episode is the relationship of Randall and Kevin. We see how they had all the problems as children and how Kevin was resenting his brother. And now as adults it all comes back again. It was very well done, the fights they had as kids at a football field and as adults on the street. And then as kids staying in different rooms while as adults Kevin who sleeps in the basement again now asks his brother to watch tv with him. Randall not having seen Manny and not even knowing Kevin's character on the show was kind of awkward. Beth getting high with William was also great. It had funny moments but at the end it also had a big moment when William accidentally tells her he knew Rebecca before. This might be a very interesting plot turn.

Goof on production design?

So when the mom goes downstairs to grab something to eat, realizing that they didn't have dinner that night... she grabs a plastic storage container that looks like the GLAD brand. From what I remember, I don't think that was introduced in the 80's. So I did a bit of research and the GLAD plastic storage container was not introduced until 1999. And I would say that flashback was probably in the late 1980's or so. Anyone catch that, or can confirm whether it was a goof?

Head Butting Big Time

The main focus of this episode is the battle for supremacy between Randall and Kevin. We are shown numerous encounters. Kevin is so immature on the one hand, and Randall flaunts his intelligence (although Kevin never gets it). Kevin is having trouble with his role in his play and is fighting anxiety and low self esteem. The brothers finally have it out on a public street where Kevin finally refers to Randall as his brother. This is a really poignant moment. While they are out, what is going on at the house is interesting and will be creating some interesting encounters. William's cancer it making eating nearly impossible. Beth bakes some marijuana brownies and they get pretty high. William inadvertently reveals a big secret that is going to change things down the road.
