Character driven and full with story and characte development, an episode that sets up the epic two-part finale
Holt3444 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The Ranch fell to the undead, Alicia left and Nick went with Troy to "scout" to make sure his sister is safe. So that story arc is over and that leaves us with the Gonzalez Dam and El Bazar. The two previous episodes was superb, and there were a lot of character development and consequences that followed. The most heartbreaking is probably Ofelia being bitten, lots of emotional stuff happened in the previous episode.

Stefan Schwartz returns in the director chair and he never disappoints. The episode has the usual good things that this season contains, great musical score, good cinematography and sound editing. Every single episode can't be incredible, there's nothing special about this episode, it moves the story in a nice pace and gives us character development and some action. Some more world building for El Bazar and The Proctors, Proctor John (the leader) will soon make his appearance.

This was Ofelia's last appearance and it was an emotional death, Ruben Blades totally nailed the performance, so believable. Mercedes Mason have been so good this season and the whole show, her death scene still shocks me even on the second time watching, sad to see her go. One Salazar remains.

El Matadero: Decent But Not Great
panagiotis199322 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ofelia was bitten? Damn! I understand why Victor is mad at Madison for spending what they have to take care of Ofelia but I also understand that Madison promised to Daniel and Ofelia to see each other again. Is the ranch completely destroyed though? How many survived? Do they want to return there or not? The zombie makeup this season is much better. Daniel coming to the meeting to find Ofelia like that is heart-breaking. But I wouldn't say that he doesn't deserve this. So after everything that happened all Nick cares about is getting high, really dumb. I can't say im sad that Ofelia is gone, I don't think ill miss her. This makes Daniel's character even more tragic and dark. Nick probably wants to stay back and get high again and again. Wouldn't surprise me. Decent episode overall but nothing great, my rating is 7.3/10.

This episode is pivotal as it deals with the immediate fallout from the intense events at the ranch and sets the stage for the upcoming conflicts and resolutions in the season
fernandoschiavi17 April 2024
Madison, Strand and Walker drive a tanker to the trading outpost to meet with Lola and Daniel when they discover that Ofelia is bit from her attempt to save the ranch. They reach the bazaar and make Ofelia comfortable until Daniel arrives. She dies just as he arrives and is forced to put her down before she turns.

Nick goes on a binge of drugs and drinking, wrangling Troy into joining him, eventually wading through a group of walking dead. The next morning, Daniel agrees to let Madison's group come to the dam, but Nick and Troy decide to stay at the bazaar.

Elsewhere, Alicia's scavenging attracts the dead who are killed by Diana for trinkets. The two women initially threaten each other but decide to share the food Alicia found and travel together.

"El Matadero," is a profound and often disturbing exploration of the depths to which humanity can sink in its quest for survival. This episode is pivotal as it deals with the immediate fallout from the intense events at the ranch and sets the stage for the upcoming conflicts and resolutions in the season.

The episode opens with a sense of desperation as Alicia, Ofelia, and the others prepare to cross into Mexico, a journey fraught with danger and uncertainty. Ofelia's deteriorating condition is a central focus, adding an emotional weight to the group's struggles. As Ofelia's life hangs in the balance, her father, Daniel, is brought back into the narrative, adding a poignant layer to the unfolding drama. Their reunion, marked by Ofelia's final moments, is a heart-wrenching scene that encapsulates the personal losses endured in the face of apocalyptic chaos.

"El Matadero" showcases a darker side of some characters, particularly Madison, whose moral compass becomes increasingly ambiguous. This episode highlights her ruthlessness and pragmatism, which starkly contrasts with Alicia's emerging leadership and moral standpoint. The tension within the group, driven by clashing survival philosophies, is palpable and lends depth to the narrative. A significant scene involves Madison's decision to use Strand's connections to secure their passage, revealing her manipulative tendencies and foresight.

Additionally, the introduction of new characters and settings, such as the shady bazaar and the enigmatic water trader, Proctor John, expands the universe of "Fear the Walking Dead" and sets up new dynamics and challenges. These elements underscore the ongoing theme of adaptability in an ever-changing world fraught with peril. The bazaar scenes are particularly effective in portraying the bizarre and often gruesome adaptations people make to survive in a world overrun by the dead.

A nice character evolution.
Froggys727226 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was nice and chill.

Nick goes back to using drugs and this time with Troy who at first refused to do it. The psychedelic sequence was decent but the best thing was how nick taught Troy how he can move between walkers, that was interesting.

Ofelia's death seemed pretty bad to me, part of the episode is about the desire to meet her father again and everything seems to be like that but just when Daniel arrives she dies, horrible death.

Well, season 3 is quite good, some episodes boring but still have good ones.

shocking death

Warning: Spoilers
3x14 Rating: 8.8/10 Ofelias death was sad.

Storyline: Madison, Strand and Walker drive a tanker to the trading outpost to meet with Lola and Daniel. Strand worries that things might go south when they show up to the trade empty-handed. Madison argues that they at least have Ofelia.

Ofelia and Crazy Dog ride on the back of the tanker. Ofelia grows weak and falls off of her perch. They all run to check to see if she's okay but spot a bite wound on Ofelia's shoulder. Ofelia asks for Madison's word that she will take her to see Daniel. Madison promises.

Alicia eats dinner inside an abandoned building. She hears a car and readies her rifle. It's Nick and Troy.

Nick tries to convince Alicia to rejoin the group, promising safety in numbers. Alicia points out that she nearly died in the pantry while surrounded by people.

Madison's group arrives at the outpost a day early. Strand tells Madison that the outpost guards will kill Ofelia if they think she's sick, but Madison insists they must enter to get Ofelia a bed and medicine.

Madison's group hands over their weapons at the checkpoint. Ofelia steadies herself, and a guard waves her through. Madison sells part of their rifle stash to pay for entry.

Madison sets up Ofelia inside a room then goes to find painkillers. Walker stands guard over Ofelia.

Strand tells Madison that they're wasting resources on Ofelia but agrees to see how things play out with Daniel.

Nick says goodbye to Alicia and gives her a map.

Nick and Troy drive to the outpost. Troy tells Nick that they're more alike than Nick thinks.

Madison gives some Vicodin to Ofelia. As Ofelia sleeps, Walker tells Madison that she's doing the right thing by honoring Ofelia's request to see her father one last time.

Alicia scavenges for food inside a burger joint. She procures a tub of potatoes from the kitchen but hides in the playground ball pit when she sees a herd of walkers heading toward the restaurant. A walker attacks Alicia from within the pit. Alicia stabs her through the head and again hides in the ball pit. The walkers enter the restaurant. A woman strides in and slaughters the herd with a pickaxe. She severs their fingers, pulls their teeth and walks off with the potatoes.

Nick finds Madison sleeping by Ofelia's side. He watches over Ofelia while Madison takes a break. He stares at the Vicodin pills and pops one in his mouth.

Alicia spots the woman's car in a supermarket parking lot. She reaches inside to steal the potatoes. The woman, Diana, shows up and threatens to kill her. Alicia threatens to shoot Diana's gas tank then proposes that they instead share the potatoes.

At the outpost cafeteria, Nick joins Troy at a table and orders tequila. Nick asks the waitress where they can find the slaughter yard. Nick pops another pill and downs the tequila. Troy joins him.

Guards capture Strand as he sneaks around the outpost. Strand demands to see Proctor John and says he has something that John will want.

Madison wakes Ofelia to meet Daniel. She suggests Walker stay behind.

Madison helps Ofelia walk to the parking lot. Ofelia asks Madison to tell Daniel that she was looking forward to getting to know him, dying soon after. Daniel arrives and goes straight to Ofelia. He cries and pulls a gun on Madison when he sees that Ofelia is dead. Madison explains what happened. Daniel sends her away and shoots Ofelia.

Nick and Troy walk around the outpost in a haze. Nick asks for directions to the slaughter yard.

Nick and Troy enter the slaughter yard, which is functioning as a drug den. A man offers an assortment of drugs, but Nick wants uppers. The man places mysterious animal glands in two shot glasses. Troy starts to leave in disgust, but Nick eats the gland. Troy caves in and eats his.

Alicia and Diana eat the potatoes inside an abandoned store. Diana explains that she sells the fingers and teeth to Mexicans at the outpost. Alicia tells Diana that she's traveling alone to a place in the desert. Diana warns her that every town has been picked clean and declares that she doesn't keep company.

Nick and Troy roam the streets in the middle of the night and encounter a herd. Nick smears his face in walker blood and instructs Troy to do the same. To Troy's amazement, the herd walks right by them.

Madison cleans up Ofelia's room and realizes that Nick took some of the Vicodin. Daniel stops by and informs her that she can still come to the dam, along with Strand, Walker, and the others.

Alicia wakes up and finds Diana fixing her car outside. A herd approaches. They decide to take on the herd together.

Madison prepares to return to the dam. Nick informs her that he and Troy will stay at the outpost to secure a toehold for future trading. Knowing that Nick has ulterior motives for staying, Madison simply tells him that he knows where to find her.
