I took this same road trip years ago. So much fun. This quirky movie brings back so many fun memories. The dialogue in movie is simple and deep, at the same time.

Charming Gen-X Buddy Road Film
earthenbody9 April 2020
This film has stayed with me long after viewing it. It invites you on a cross-country road trip with two characters that are simultaneously familiar and foreign. Highlighting the Technicolor beauty of the American landscape, these two historic friends explore the complex kaleidoscope of Americana as they unravel the mysteries of who they have become in midlife. Beyond the gorgeous scenery, the highlight of the film is the dialogue of self-reflection and deception between these two, running the gamut of politics, relationships, and random oddness that is the hallmark of the intimacy between real friends. A charming film of what skate punk rebellion looks like when Gen-Xers grapple with the new millennium world they find themselves in now.

Road Trip Cliff Hanger

Sea to Shining Sea (2017) is not War and Peace -- fire up a bowl -- but it is two hours of decent, mostly clean entertain. As the title suggests this is a cross country road trip for two old friends, one from NYC, one from Amsterdam. The first needs to get a Suburu wagon gifted from his Mom in San Francisco to his home in NYC. The other is in California and needs to return to Amsterdam. Hey, Friend 1 says, why not ride with me from Cali to NYC. Friend 2 agrees, has a mysterious rendevous with Mom the day before the road trip, culminating in Mystery Solved. Not War and Peace but fun AF. Party on.
