The post-event TV lead-out is a delicate thing. Whenever major television telecasts – like, say, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, or the premiere or finale of a super-high-rated reality show – end, something has to come on afterward, and most shows chosen for the coveted slot take the responsibility very seriously. Lead-out programming usually catches hundreds of thousands if not millions of extra eyes since watch parties all over the country get caught up chatting or celebrating and fail to change the channel. Or, better yet, they get hooked on the first few minutes of whatever show's in front of them.

Elden Ring’s success in the industry was nothing short of glorious. Despite being released in 2022, the title is still very relevant in 2024 and is a testament to FromSoftware’s competence and ability to craft experiences that are second to none.
The title was designed to cater to a specific subset of gamers, but that might be about to change as rumors of Tencent reportedly releasing Elden Ring on mobile are doing the rounds on social media. Apart from being shocking for fans, this rumor, if legitimate, also goes against the studio’s philosophy of making games that aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Michael J. Fox says the celebrities who became famous during the 1980s were much “tougher” than the ones rising the ranks of stardom now thanks to social media. Fox become of the most popular stars of Hollywood during that decade thanks to the sitcom “Family Ties” and his role as Marty McFly in the “Back to the Future” movies.
“There’s an expression I referred to when they gave me an honorary Academy Award — somebody said to me the day before, they were talking about getting this award and being famous and they said ‘You’re ‘80s famous,’” Fox told People magazine. “I thought, ‘Wow, that’s cool.’ ‘80s famous. Right, we were different. We were tougher. We didn’t have social media, we didn’t have any of that crap. We were just famous. Left to our own resources. And it was an amazing time.”

People Magazine is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the publication is heading back into its vault to reminisce about some of the most important, engaging stories that they have been able to cover over the years. One such story is the shocking revelation and amazing journey that Michael J. Fox embarked on when he was revealed to be diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1998. Fox, in the middle of his Spin City run that brought him back to the TV glory days, would announce to the world that he had been secretly battling this condition since his diagnosis in 1991 while he was filming Doc Hollywood.
At the time of the announcement, Fox’s doctor gave his prognosis and said that he would be “hopeful that Fox will be functional for at least another 10 years and maybe well into old age.” Fox is now 62, but he has definitely exceeded the initial...

This might be the messiest reunion in Married at First Sight history.
On Wednesday, the Denver cast came together to hash out all the drama from their chaotic season. Things were tense from the start. Four of the five women banded together to defend themselves against their ex-husbands, who they claimed were manipulative and deceitful during their brief marriages.
The men fired back, insisting that the women were not being transparent about what really went down behind the scenes on the Lifetime reality show. Sorting out the truth in the game of “he said, she said” was nearly impossible, and host Kevin Frazier didn’t hesitate to make his exasperation with the cast clear, especially once he learned that they’d all been working together to try to mislead the show’s producers about what was really going on in their marriages.

Language can be funny. While a person is trying to convey a different message, it can be perceived as offensive. Such was the case with Content Warning recently, as netizens highlighted a word used in the game that many perceive as a slur. The game has risen to immense popularity since its release, and several players are now trying to go viral in-game and in the real world.
The fun-looking survival horror game was released on April Fool’s Day, continuing Landfall’s tradition of releasing its game on the same day. Players use a camera and other equipment available in the game to film scary content while exploring the Old World. Michael J. Fox was a heartthrob back in the ’80s and ’90s thanks to his many memorable roles in the Back To The Future series, Teen Wolf, The Hard Way, Life with Mikey, and more. The actor’s memorable performances and down-to-earth personality earned him a huge fan following.
Hence, many hearts across the world were broken when he revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1998. However, the actor had been secretly fighting the progressive degenerative disorder for seven years at that point. Despite his disease, the actor appeared in many hit projects throughout the 2000s and 2010s. He was a regular in the CBS drama series The Good Wife which aired from 2010 to 2016.
However, in 2020, the star announced his retirement from onscreen work. The decision came due to Parkinson’s impacting his ability to memorize and remember lines. Now, four years later, he is willing to return to acting under one sole condition.

Michael J. Fox’s retirement from acting might not be permanent. The actor recently told Entertainment Tonight that he’d be open to returning to the profession bearing the right role. The “Back to the Future” and “Family Ties” star stepped back from acting in 2020 as his Parkinson’s disease made it increasingly difficult to remember dialogue.
“My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids, and that’s been the big thing,” Fox said about retiring from acting. “And then the other is with the [Michael J. Fox] foundation…[however] if something came up that I could put my realities into it — my challenges — if I could figure it out.”
While Fox has not acted in a film or television show since his 2020 guest role on “The Good Fight,” he hit the press circuit last year in support of his Apple TV+ documentary “Still.” He said participating...

The iconic Michael J. Fox may have retired due to the worsening of his tragic condition, but the legendary star would still make the festival rounds when a documentary about his life premiered to great acclaim last year. Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie brought him back to the movies, except this time, he would be himself on camera. Fox may have decided to retire from the acting world, but let’s not forget that he is also a self-proclaimed “incurable optimist.” The Back to the Future star would recently talk to Entertainment Tonight and revealed that there is still a possibility of taking on a part if it’s right.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox told Et that his priorities changed back in 1991 when he first received his Parkinson’s diagnosis. “My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids, and that’s been the big thing,...

Married at First Sight was another one of Chris Coelen’s hit reality shows. But when the series recruited its first batch of contestants, they all had very mixed emotions regarding the show’s twist.

Contestants may know what’s in store now when they end up on Married at First Sight. It’s only been a couple of months since we last saw Barbadian pop sensation Rihanna bless the world with her new song, titled Lift Me Up, for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. On her first two albums, 2019’s Essentials and 2021’s Sensational, Danish R&b singer Erika de Casier displayed a preternatural sense of creative and personal self-assurance. Her lyrical modus operandi fell somewhere between sly defiance and cool detachment as she flexed her career ambitions while shrugging off bad dates. Perhaps it’s fitting, then, that de Casier was launched into international recognition in 2023 by co-writing K-pop group NewJeans’s “Super Shy,” a song about overcoming insecurity.
With Still, her first album as a newly minted hitmaker, she unravels her typically unbothered persona, expressing a newfound degree of doubt and romantic turmoil. The album roughly tracks the course of a tumultuous relationship from nascent flirtation to post-breakup reconciliation, placing de Casier in unfamiliar emotional territory.
This arc begins in typical de Casier fashion with “Home Alone,” a showcase of her signature retro-futuristic production grounded in the sounds of Y2K-era R&b.

The Netflix Documentary Talent Fund was created in 2020 “to break down barriers of access for emerging filmmakers,” the global streamer highlighted.

It’s a sweep! The Critics Choice Association revealed the winners for its 8th annual documentary awards on Sunday, November 12, 2023, and one film claimed all five of the awards it was nominated for. The film’s other wins went to Davis Guggenheim in Best Director, Michael Harte in Best Editing, and in Best Narration and Best Biographical Documentary.
“American Symphony,” the nomination leader with six, took home two prizes: Jon Batiste won Best Score and the film was named Best Music Documentary. When people think of Jim Gillespie’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, they usually consider it a solid slasher. It certainly had an engaging lead cast—Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe—and a script from Scream creator himself, Kevin Williamson. It even spawned an Amazon Prime spinoff series and is being featured as part of a “High School Horror” category on the Criterion Channel.
But that’s not the film this article is about. This is about the 1998 sequel that has a less positive reputation: Danny Cannon’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which brought back Hewitt and Prinze Jr., but not Gillespie and Williamson. A lot of people tend to think of it as a lesser follow-up that is best left forgotten.

In his 2020 memoir, No Time Like the Future, Michael J. Fox wrote about how he’s dealt with the myriad medical issues he’s faced throughout his life: Not only his long battle with Parkinson’s but a 2018 spinal tumor that required surgery lest it paralyze him, and a subsequent fall that broke his upper arm.
The latter incident was so frustrating it even caused Fox to reconsider his deeply held, make-lemons-into-lemonade optimism. “I said, ‘Fuck lemonade. I’m out of the lemonade business,’” he recalled in a new interview with Town and Country.

28 October 2023 – The full moon, Saturday 28 October, sees the release of the penultimate track of Peter Gabriel’s new album i/o. This month the song is “And Still” and the first version to be heard is the Dark-Side Mix, by Tchad Blake.
Written and produced by Peter Gabriel, “And Still” is arguably one of the most skin-prickingly personal songs that Peter Gabriel has ever written. It is not just an elegy, it’s also an exploration of the nature of memory: how it tethers us, how it secures us.
‘I wrote a song for my dad a number of years back, which I was actually able to play him, which was ‘Father, Son’. When my mum died, I wanted to do something for her, but it’s taken a while before I felt comfortable and distant enough to be able to write something.

When I saw the title of Still Up Season 1 Episode 5, I had one thought. What the hell is Veggie Veggie Bing Bong?
After watching this installment from beginning to end, I still can't say I know anything besides it's a ridiculous game made up by Veggie's family that involves throwing ham at the loser.
What type of insanity is that?
I suppose we should be grateful they're only flinging slices of the lunch meat variety of ham at Lisa's face. If it were actual ham steaks, the poor woman could have gotten hurt.
Would Lisa have still sat there and taken it just to make Veggie happy? Maybe. And that's what was so disturbing about this camping trip.
Lisa hated camping but was willing to go on this trip because she wanted to spend family time with Poppy and Veggie.
But when Veggie heard "family time," he didn't think of just him,...

On Tuesday (September 26), the singer said during their Golden 1 Center show in Sacramento, California, “After this tour, we will be going on an indefinite hiatus of shows, so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight. Thank you so much.”
After fans expressed concern, he confirmed that the band won’t be breaking up during their concert at San Jose’s Sap Arena on Thursday (September 28).
“I didn’t mean to scare any hardcore fans by insinuating that we were splitting up or anything like that,” he said. “That’s not happening. Don’t worry about that.

Lisa and Danny are best friends who have issues. And those issues have nothing to do with their insomnia.
As a matter of fact, I wonder if their strange relationship somehow incentivizes them to be up all night.
But it all seems harmless enough during Still Up Season 1 Episode 1 as Lisa chats away with Danny and runs out to the pharmacy to get her daughter, Poppy, some calamine lotion for her chicken pox.
I couldn't help but wonder if they have the chicken pox vaccine in the UK because I don't know any kids who get chicken pox anymore here in the US.
But I digress.
The bigger issue is Lisa's slightly askew moral compass.
When Poppy first showed symptoms of the illness, instead of taking the child to the doctor or putting her to bed, Lisa made a special sheep mask Poppy could wear on her class trip so...

Ann Wilson of Heart has unveiled the single “This Is Now” from her upcoming album with her backing band Tripsitter. The LP, titled Another Door, arrives on September 29th.
Wilson wrapped up recording sessions for Another Door before her 2023 tour. The album features all-original material, and marks the first time since the 1970s that the singer-songwriter has released a full-length album collectively with a band. In addition to Wilson, Tripsitter features bassist Tony Lucido, guitarist Ryan Wariner, drummer Sean T Lane, and guitarist-keyboardist Paul Moak. The album also features contributions from guitarist Tom Bukovac.

People often say never meet your heroes, but “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie” editor Michael Harte absolutely couldn’t wait to meet one of his. When Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (“An Inconvenient Truth”) ended up needing an editor for AppleTV+’s in-depth film profile of the Parkinson’s cure advocate and “Family Ties” and “Back to the Future” star, Harte accelerated his interest almost to the tune of 88 miles per hour.
“I was working on the documentary “Three Identical Strangers,” and we wanted the first act of that to feel like a 1980s movie,” said the BAFTA-winning Harte of that 2018 Oscar-nominated doc about a notable group of separated male triplets who reconnect later in life. “So, we were watching a lot of Michael J. Fox movies, because we just wanted to get the same vibe.”

Get ready to delve into The Music of Heatmiser. The Portland band best known as Elliott Smith’s pre-solo career springboard has announced a new rarities compilation arriving October 6th via Third Man Records, and a demo version of the track “Lowlife” is out now.

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie heads into final Emmy Awards voting with more nominations than any other nonfiction project this year: seven in all, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, as well as recognition for director Davis Guggenheim and picture editor Michael Harte.

Fox as an actor, and I think by the end of the project I kind of adored him as a man, as a human being,” Harte shared during an appearance at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees awards-season event. “It’s his ability to see the positive and to laugh through basically everything; his ability to find the...

When it comes to the biggest names in streaming, it’s getting harder and harder to leave out Apple, especially after Apple TV+’s banner second quarter.
Between April and June, Apple TV+ made more appearances on Whip Media’s weekly SVOD TV ranker, which looks at the 10 most-streamed shows in the U.S. each week, than any other service.
Apple TV+ cracked Whip Media’s TV ranker 31 times during the second quarter, which was an 82% increase from its 17 appearances in Q1. Those 31 appearances also put Apple TV+ ahead of Netflix (26 appearances) and Max (18 appearances), as well as first-quarter streaming king Paramount+, which made Whip Media’s TV ranker 16 times during the second quarter.
There were five shows responsible for Apple’s big quarter: “Ted Lasso,” “Silo,” “Schmigadoon!,...

Note: Spoilers for “Theater Camp” are included.
Searchlight Pictures’ “Theater Camp” is a delightfully fun look at the wacky world of youth theater camps that draws inspiration from some of the best documentary features. “‘Metallica Some Kind of Monster’ or ‘War Room’ [was] a huge influence on us,” codirector Nick Lieberman told TheWrap. “Frederick Wiseman’s ‘Salesman,’ those movies all have moments that are some of my favorite funniest moments in movies. The challenge was how can you create that feeling, or create that spirit or write to that spirit?”
Ben Platt and Noah Galvin play two of the teachers working with the camp’s budding actors. They also worked on the film’s original songs (with Galvin also acting as cowriter on the script). “This movie is an amalgam of all of us,” Galvin said. “The characters we play are little scrapbooks of all of the teachers and theater people...
