Here we have the "2016 MTV Video Music Awards" aka the Black Reel Music Awards 2016 and this is an annual event that probably most of you have already heard of. I think i have seen older events like this already in the past, but I don't remember them being a mess like this one here. The only question that really stays here is what was the worst thing about this whole ceremony. Was it the over-long runtime of more than 120 minutes? Was it the extremely forgettable performances? Was it the fact that they tried to tell us the likes of Rihanna and Beyonce (way past peak) are talented artists? Or was it the winners who really show us how sad things look right now in terms of American music (at least the most popular) and MTV, which at one point was definitely a respectable television channel. But my oh my what have they become? Or was it the audience who kept celebrating all this garbage and mediocrity from start to finish? It says a lot if clown hosts like Jimmy Fallon manage to elevate the material and an event like this. I don't even know what to say anymore. Sure people will think blah blah that I am just one of complaining about the good old times, but honestly, can anybody seriously look at this ceremony and tell me that there was something major positive in here? I think the best thing is probably that they kept it basically unpolitical from start to finish as it very well could have turned into another anti-Trump event. Leave that to the film ceremonies. Anyway, the biggest (also very objective) low of the night was Rihanna singing a 2012 song at a 2016 event as one of the "highlights" at the very end. And the saddest thing is her performance shows how her songs were at least catchy back then still compared to what she is getting out today. Oh yeah, I forgot the hosts who looked in their cabin as if they were broadcasting from some boxing or martial arts event. These two were so embarrassing in their attempts to be relevant and entertaining. Stay far far away from this ceremony and one can only pray MTV steps things up soon, preferably for 2017 already, otherwise it's truly high time to stop this crap event show.
