Fans like myself of crime drama serials have indeed been spoilt in recent years. The Level sees decorated Officer Nancy Devlin caught up in the murder of her friend's father, Frank LeSaux is killed in front of her, and Nancy is shot.
It is definitely well made, it's slick, and it has a good story. I really like the fact that the central character, Nancy, is tarnished somehow, she has the added complication of having to look after her sick mother, but what's she up to, why has she previously covered for Frank, and why did the gunman try also to kill her?
Lots of questions, with plenty going on. A bold move to bump off Philip Glenister straight away.
Intrigued, 8/10
