Barry Andersson said that the movie's theme deal with the horror of loss and loneliness, while also tackling basic human instinct to survive in a harrowing and desperate situation by using the house as a metaphor.
The scenes where Rachel Weber is seen struggling to have her head up of the rising water in which she almost touches the roof of the basement, were actually all filmed at a nearby lake in a dock. The roof of the basement was a piece of wood they used so the actress could swim underneath it.
The movie started as a short film before becoming a full thriller a year later.
The movie was produced in a period of almost 4 years.
