Wire Frame Before Wire Frame
boblipton12 October 2017
This Early Piece of Computer Animation was submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for Consideration for the Best Animated Short subject of the year. It didn't even make the list of nominated pictures, because ... well, because the people who looked at it didn't know what to make of its collection of abstract moving shapes, and I can't say I honestly blame them. Some things are just too far ahead of their time to make any sense, and this early example of what would become the basis of wire-frame animation was that.

At the time, it took a major grant for IBM to produce this. Today every computer you buy carries this as a screen saver, and several dozen others.
