Thum(b)s Up
safenoe30 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Marcus loses his thum, I mean thumb, and Amy, who was supervising Marcus, is in a tizzy because she (or Marcus) loses the thumb, and this could jeopardize her promotion prospects.

Glenn does his best to impress the staff and corporate headquarters, with varying results. I only started watching Superstore earlier this year, and my only regret is I didn't watch it earlier! But I guess it's one season at a time: in 2020 it was Monk, in 2022 it was The Good Place, and this year it's Superstore and Magnum (the original one of course).

Dina saves the day and manages to show her tough side to support Amy.

Title: foibles with a thumb

This episode is on the list of best episodes of Superstore just firing on all cylinders! It hits all the right jokes with the right timing and my favorite all time movie aside from Casino called Magnolia was mentioned in a funny reading of a letter reacting a laugh out loud moment!

I feel superstore is at it's best when this type of episode airs. It stands up there with B99, which I consider my go-to comedy today. At times the writing is so tight and the characters gell so well and if this episode officially titled Back to work indicates how season 2 is going to be, I would say its going to out perform s1!

I'm late to this series so it was jarring to see the finale with them going on strike to then see s2 open with an episode completely throwing the last episode out the window with a bottle episode. Then the next was the one I expected called strike?? So I assume the first was a throwaway episode badly aired throwing the bingeing rhythm off. I'm sure watching it live it was absolutely fine as long as superstore was back! It was still enjoyable but just confusing. As its indicated here its marked episode 0, so after watching Strike, I then figured it out.

The second episode is really what hit all the Mark's right here as I said though! I'm looking forward to this season and the character development! The writing has improved in what I've seen in the last two episodes.

It seems like comedies these days, or even when community aired, it took several episodes to get really into. Theres a handful of comedies that I was hooked right from the start and those are my favorite of all time. The office, curb your enthusiasm, Seinfeld, and then theres ones that have high reward for being patient like Parks and rec, arrested development and community for the first 3 seasons. Theres many many more that I havent mentioned because this is all about superstore and it being a show that I'm just happy i was patient with for 4-5 episodes and fell in love with it. I dont think it shares comparison with the office as much as it does with BR99. I dont think this series is cringe comedy at least for me but again I LOVE the office and my level of cringe is tolerant. When there are moments of colorful jokes and moments, I really love superstore. Sometimes it really goes there no restraints. Sometimes it holds back a little playing it safe but still always fun knowing how to exist in modern times.

Love it!! This episode gets a 9/10
