The Big Three (#1.2)

Warning: Spoilers
I liked this episode even better than the pilot. I like Kate's story. How it is hard for her to overcome thinking about weight as she did all her life. So is her mom somehow responsible because she made her dieting then? But I like her with Toby, they had lots of great time at the party. And it was fun when she yelled at the ridiculous skinny girl that feels fat. Kevin's problem doesn't seem like a problem to me. So boohoo he doesn't like his million paying job. Many of us don't like our (much lesser paying) jobs and stick with them to be able to find something better later. But I like him as a character. Randall's father story is pretty interesting. Now I feel bad for Clooney. What will the poor cat do when the guy dies. And the twist at the end was pretty good! Although it does make me sad.

We Get to Meet the Folks

This series movies nicely into the next phase. I want to say "the future" bur if you watch the show, you know why this doesn't work. Here we get to see the petulance of some, the tragedy of some, and the baggage they have accumulated. I like that these characters are not perfect. Kevin really bugs me. At his age, the opportunity to put in two years to make millions seems a no-brainer. He could continue his legitimate acting career at the same time and have star power. He is so whiney. He has already got the reputation for being a stud boy, so doing it a couple more years wouldn't hurt him. Then there's the weight problem and a realistic look at a person in a sad place. Finally, the black man whose brother treated him like dirt and who was left in front of a firehouse, who has a perfection complex. And, enter the birth father. And we have a really sad figure. The episode ends with quite a surprise. I think we're in for quite a lot of those.
