I'd be hard-pressed to name a worse 'filmmaker' than Jerry Warren, whose collective work makes Ed Wood's look like Jean Renoir. Here's another of his awful reediting jobs, this time of a Brazilian prison drama butchered by the great man, who added dull as dishwater footage of Bruno VeSota sucking on a cigar and talking to three other men about prison conditions in Panama. The original film, Mãos Sangrentas, was already seven years old by the time Warren got to it; what's left of it here looks quite good, especially in comparison with the terrible scenes lensed by Warren. No, not even VeSota can save this one. Let's hope Mãos Sangrentas still exists in its original form.
