Nicely done but nothing special.
chacham20 June 2019
Pros: The animation, the music, all is nice. A pleasure to watch.

Meh: The story itself revolves around a war or two, with important background information being thrust forward as needed.

Cons: The one "genius" is always right and the story revolves around him. Similar to Death Note. He's just a magical character that basically always wins. Hard to feel for him though, so the wins feel empty.

Conclusion: Overall it is a decent anime, a good watch, and nicely done, but you're not missing anything if you do not see it. Otoh, if you like anime, it's not something you'd regret watching either.

extremely good

After watching this anime I liked it pretty much. I even wanted a second season. But the sad thing is after knowing the story from LN I don't think it will get second season. Even I am pissed it had so much potential but made the ending trash broken heart of all the fans. But if you nonly watch anime then go for it. I recommend.

Only battle and military tactics from episode 6 till the last episode, I expected more!
kennyT-199874 January 2022
Episodes 1-6 made sense, after that its all just battle battle battle, reckon, strategy and then some more battle until the very end of last 6 minutes in episode 13 when its finally over.

This is one of those bait anime's where you start watching with a promising story and end up watching repetitive 2D animation (at times) for last 6 episodes.

Strategy plot is very vague in this anime, as its mostly commentary and observation apart form a few unorthodox methods of battle.

It still good watch but I just wasn't prepared for that though, that's my opinion on the anime. If they had made 24 episodes with more expansion on the outcomes of the battle and circumstances, it may have been a more entertaining show.

One of the best anime series I've had the pleasure of watching.

Why is it anime's of this quality rarely get a 2nd season?

From a humble beginning in the first episode a small group of friends and strangers are thrown together by a twist of fate. Over the next 12 episodes (total of 13) we see them grow, overcome obstacles and learn the brutal truths of war and adulthood.

Pros:
  • Fairly unique characters and modulations.
  • Solid character growth.
  • Good core story arc.
  • Quality and consistent animation.
  • Well done score.
  • A couple surprising twists.
  • Perfect English dubbing.

Cons:
  • No 2nd season to date.

Although the characters and story is akin to a few other anime's out there Alderamin is the best I've seen of this "style" and I'd love to see more.

It falls into Fantasy and Military History genre's.

Astonishing, shocking, bewildering, astounding, , stunning, confounding, staggering, perplexing, , and much more

This show is amazing, if you can accept what it is. The strategy that the main character comes up with, will make you think that it was written by Eisenstein. The show has little comedy, almost zero romance, but it has great characters and , like said before, brilliant strategy.

Watch the first two episodes. They will give you the perfect idea of what this show is all about.

Top tier

"Alderamin on the Sky" is a truly underrated masterpiece that deserves more recognition. With two amazing seasons, this show is a must-watch for anyone who loves thoughtful and engaging anime. The first season starts off strong and sets the stage for a captivating story, but its finale does fall a bit short in comparison to the rest of the series. However, the second season more than makes up for it with its intense plot, well-developed characters, and breathtaking animation. Overall, "Alderamin on the Sky" is a hidden gem that is definitely worth checking out for fans of the war and action genre."

Military strategy, stem punk fantasy, coming of age anime
mayank098763 June 2019
Alderamin on the Sky is based on a Japanese light novel, which was later adapted to manga and now an anime. I had read the manga and enjoyed it a lot so I decided to watch the anime when I stumbled upon it.

The setting is a Stem Punk Fantasy world with tactical warfare as the focus of the plot. It's the start of rifle age, with swords still playing a major part, air balloons are the next new thing. Also, everyone got some spirit companion who can do some neat tricks. The storytelling focuses on the journey of a recruit to becoming the highest military officer in the country using brains. We only cover the training of recruits and their first campaign before the anime ends just like the manga. I hope they spin out more seasons as this is one of the anime with some great characters and lot of potential.

I liked the animation, it was done up well all throughout.

If you can overlook the theme of war...it was fine.
cocobar12 September 2017
The overall show was enjoyable. I enjoyed the personalities of all the characters and did become emotionally attached to many - if not all - of the main ones. I also enjoyed Ikta's ideal of how life should be: laziness all the way! What I did not enjoy was the overall theme of war. I only stuck with it because the main character himself did not enjoy war, in fact hated it, and many other characters did not either. I feel like this show encapsulated the corruptness and stupidity of war. Overall, if I overlook the disgust of warfare in general, in this anime, it wasn't too bad. However, even without the theme subtracting from my enjoyment of the plot, there wasn't as much comedy as I would have liked, and a lot of the knowledge was slow starting; you wouldn't find out certain things until midway through the show.
