Suffice to say I was not impressed with the first two Invoking movies. The first was a highly lacklustre generic unoriginal horror and the second was a very underwhelming anthology piece.
Well part 3 follows in part 2's footsteps, exactly in fact. Several short stories ranging from ghosts to odd little creatures to the lady in white to an evil underground cult.
What alarmed me was the IMDB rating, the first has an incredibly low score, the second very low and this one...............incredibly high. I mean at time of writing it's 7.4, a film only needs around 8.0 to get into the IMDB top 250 (Though needs more votes).
So, is the quality that much better? Well, a bit but not THAT much. It's certainly the best movie of the franchise thus far but alike the previous it's still a very mixed bag. Thankfully some of the stories are perfectly watchable while others leave you wondering quite what the point was.
It's oddly created, almost as if it's a series of short films made by different people all put together to make the movie. In fact I'm pretty sure that's what has happened. American, Mexican, Russian and English can all be found here.
It has it's moments which is more than can be said about the previous movies but without a severe overhaul or a big injection of funds I don't see the remaining movies being any better.
The Good:
Certainly an improvement
Has some passable ideas
The Bad:
More misses than hits
Some really quite poor stuff
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Separation of church and state really seems to be a dead concept to many
