Funny with a Well Structured Plot,
lesleyharris305 August 2017
Kamp Krustier is a terrific Simpsons episode with a very well written plot and plenty of hilarious moments. It is a very strong Homer and Marge episode as we see their marriage really hit rock bottom this time around. There have been several episodes in recent years where they had marital issues that had such little scope that it was far too predictable how they were going to pull through before the show was over. However, this time around, I found myself genuinely concerned for them, truly not being able to solve a way in my head for them to sort through these issues, and that's how it always should be.

The Bart and Lisa sub plot was lackluster, and if it was not for how strong Homer and Marge's story was, I would be giving a much lower rating. We know that they are traumatised after an event in Kamp Krusty, and that is all we know for quite some time, as an audience member we become irritated, rather than enticed, which was obviously there intention. Once we find out what it was that occurred, all I will say is, it is immensely underwhelming.

The highlight of the episode for me had to be seeing Homer taking his job seriously for once. We have seen the character take on several occupations over the years that he was passionate about, but this was our first time seeing him become a model employee at the Power Plant, which was great fun for a long time viewer to see.

Great development in 20 minutes. Funny and hard hitting, Kamp Krustier is one of the highlights of the 28th season, in my opinion.

Bart and Lisa put an end to Homer and Marge's romantic evenings when a traumatic incident forces them to return home early from camp.

Pro And Cons Of Camp Krustier
snorlax31119845 March 2017
I'd like to start by offering my condolences to former Simpsons guest star Kristen Wiig (Flaming Moe, Homerland) who has received the 2016 Worst Supporting Actress Razzie for her poor performance in Zoolander 2.

Pro: 1. I'm a big fan of Barney Gumble so I liked that he got his own St. Patrick's Day billboard.

2. Wiggum has two great scenes: One is arguing with Officer Lou over whether the Declaration Of Independence made "No Girls Allowed" signs law. The other great moment is Clancy taking the "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar" song all too seriously.

3. I was delighted when I learned Michael Sheen was involved with this episode. I loved his work as Brian Clouth in "The Damned United" and he was fine here (I believe he voiced the male therapist in Homer & Marge's couples therapy).

4. Kirk & Milhouse Van Houten need one thing to make fools of themselves: a chance. Kirk insisting that thumb-sucking is the one vice he can afford was hilarious.

5. I hate who Lisa can sometimes be the girl with all the answers to questions nobody asked. I really got a kick out of how Lisa called Bart out on his political incorrectness, only for Charlie to reveal Lisa is the one who's wrong.

6. It's not very original to show the inner workings of a cartoon character's mind but that didn't stop it from being funny.

7. Two great 70's moments: the Itchy mice dancing to "Staying Alive" and the parody of Barry Whiute's "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" sung by that great voice actor Kevin Michael Richardson.

8. Best Line Smithers: This is quite a change of character for you, Simpson, what's going on? Homer: (whispering) I'm sexually repressed Smithers: (seen below a giant painting of Mr. Burns) I know the feeling

Con: 1. In Russia, Putin makes lame jokes about The Simpsons.

2. This episode is established to be set during season 4's "Camp Krusty" and yet the Itchy & Scratchy cartoon is titled "Dancing With The Scars". Dancing With The Stars didn't exist then. I'm sure some Americans had e-mail accounts in the fall '92 - Spring '93 but I can't believe Homer would.

3. I was disappointed the episode never addresses Bart's takeover of Camp Krusty, the effect it had on the bully councilors or Krusty taking the campers to Tijuana.

4. The idea of a man giving up sex for the sake of his intelligence was already done on Seinfeld and it was infinitely more satisfying on that NBC sitcom.

Although not as classical as the Kamp Krusty, still fun to watch at least.

The season 4 episode Kamp krusty one of my favourites is one of the classic episodes of the simpsons, and i hoped this episode would be as classic, and while it wasn't completely it sill was somewhat fun to watch.

The first plot line Bart and lisa return from kamp krusty possibly from another trip (i hope so) but they are traumatized, while Bart pretends, he later discovers he was traumatized so he and lisa attempt to find out what it is and discover that it was about a kid they thought drowned while escaping the camp but he turns out alive so all's good.

Homer and Marge's sexual life is cut when Bart sleeps with them causing Homer to become a productive worker and more caring but marge realizes she misses the old homer so she takes to therapy (Michael Sheen and Lizzy caplan) were she decides to take the kids and homer back to kamp krusty where homer's sexual life returns.

Overall while the classicality of the first episode was not exactly shown nevertheless it was still fun to watch and was nice to see Kamp krusty again i give 7/10

Bart and Lisa return traumatized from Kamp krusty, Homer becomes a productive worker.

Actually got a few laughs out of me.

The Simpsons has gone downhill for me, and I'd rather see a restart of futurama instead of another 30 Simpsons seasons. But Simpsons seem to be going uphill again.

Not as good as I hoped

Warning: Spoilers
I was quite hopeful for the "Kamp Krustier" episode of the Simpsons but when I watched it I was let down. Once again the writers chose the very frustratingly generic plot of Homer & Marge's Marriage breaking down. It's pretty much them trying to have sex for 20 minutes. The writers are obviously bored or perverted. But the problem is a story like this in the Simpsons has been done already dozens of times, if not done to death. Hardly any of the episode had to do with the original Kamp Krusty except for a small back story which Bart and Lisa became Traumatised. This story should have been the leader for the episode not stuff that Homer & Marge were going through, most of the plot was actually unrelated to Kamp Krusty entirely. Yes they come back but its now a service for adults (for whatever reason?). The flash back scenes were annoying and adding in a random new character Charlie who was with Bart and Lisa on the boat and they thought he got knocked out but he didn't and he's still alive. And there is another Simpsons character which nobody probably cares about nor will likely see again. I don't even recall Charlie being in the original episode of Season 4. I was hoping this episode the Writers would focus more on the gang going Back to the camp more often. Instead it was not very funny, one of the Simpsons episodes i've barely laughed in and I overall thought it was incredibly depressing, and disappointing. They could have had an opportunity to make this episode good but they didn't. When Homer became a productive worker that was funny for the first 5 minutes but then the gag started getting stretched to the point where it got annoying.

A pale imitation of it's namesake

What drivel... people actually get paid to write this stuff? Kamp Krusty is a gem from season 4 - the start of The Simpsons' golden age. This episode soils it's reputation.

Kamp Krustier seems to render the earlier episode meaningless. Why did they return to KK, just to get traumatised again? In fact, you never even see what goes on like you did in the first one - just a few boring flashbacks.

Where are the jokes? Where are the laughs? Where is the entertainment? A totally forgetful episode - pretty typical of season 28.

The disappointing Kamp Krustier
santifersan1 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's a shame to see how far The Simpsons have fallen with this episode, "Kamp Krustier." The main plotline, in which Bart and Lisa are traumatized from their time at Kamp Krusty, is a clear reference to the fourth season episode. However, the writers fail to mention any genuine experiences that the siblings may have had at the camp. Instead, they make up bland and senseless "memories." The best part of the fourth season episode was the evil school bullies and the shoddy, unsafe cabins. Yet, all Bart and Lisa can recall is a well-made canoe? Clearly, the writer of this episode never watched the fourth season episode. While the subplot with Homer becoming more active at work and facing sexual problems is acceptable, the main plotline seriously detracts from the episode. It's unfortunate to see how far the series has fallen.
