Another by the numbers stalk and slash!
omendata5 September 2019
Watching this was like being forced to endure water torture.

Nothing new to add to the genre and adding in the blind narrative did nothing for the movie; no character development and the acting was pretty poor as well.

You know a movie si not going well when you start checking to see how long it has left to go!

Out of sight, out of mind, LITERALLY

If the girl had not been blind, there would be nothing to this movie! Also, did I imagine this or where there pauses in the movie where commercials easily could go? Made for TV? Would explain a lot.

The acting is really-not good :/

The leading actress was below average. Script is bad. Everything has a very cheap feeling to it. I wouldn't recommend seeing it

Well made but predictable.

This film does well with its budget. Its shot well & the acting is pretty good.

However it its very predictable, I'd worked out how it was going to play out within the first 15 minutes.

Not too bad
fairlesssam18 September 2020
Not a bad watch really.

A trio of friends meet up at a cabin, one of which has recently been blinded. A stranger arrives, they were expecting him as the blind girl's dad had arranged that a young man would join them for the evening.

It's quite predictable in how the story progresses but the cast are good and characters likeable. Sadly there is nothing new or original but there are some funny lines that you don't expect and the baddies are good at being bad.

I didn't enjoy the ending, very predictable.

horror with some potential
SnoopyStyle5 September 2022
The original title is Darker Than Night. Sloan Carter is recently blind. Her father is a professor of criminology. While he's away for work, he leaves Sloan with her friends Toby and Mika. Bill arrives at the house as the trio heads off for a party. Bill is supposedly studying under Sloan's father and sent by him. There is also a creepy girl.

The start is a little confused. I'm sure the relationships are all explained somewhere but it's not the clearest. Still, it's an interesting premise. It needs some cinematic style and a bit better writing. There is a general need for a higher level of production and direction. There is a good horror idea here before it stumbles over a few things. Bill is too suspicious from the start and he can't be for this to work. Toby and Mika make some classic silly horror mistakes. There is some good potential here but the flaws are too much.

Interesting!

Warning: Spoilers
Originally titled Darker than the Night, this Canadian horror effort is all about Sloan Carter, a young girl who has recently been blinded. When her overprotective father leaves for the weekend, she and her two best friends, along with one of her father's best students, decide to spend the night. But soon, their weekend is interrupted by a violent threat.

This is Johnny Mitchell's first feature film and it looks way better than the majority of the direct to streaming films that cross our path. It's appropriately dark and filled with plenty of tension.

Bea Santos, the lead, was on HBO's True Detective. Here she shines as Sloan, who is forced to rely on her wits against an unseen enemy. Sure, you've seen the story before, but this is pretty decent for a 2019 low budget film.

I Wish You Could See The Look On My Face
Foutainoflife26 August 2019
This is a lower budget film about a girl who has recently gone blind. Dad's going out of town but two of her friends along with a friend of her dad, who needs a room for the night, will be with her in his absence. Things are going along ok until they start to nose dive.

Some have complained about the acting but it is a low budget film. Taking that into consideration gives me the opinion that they weren't all that bad because they could be soooo much worse.

The story is weak at best and there is very little character development so there's not a whole lot to be interested in. It's just a random flick about random people in a random town with some random stuff going on. Nothing to invest in.

I give this a 3.5 but we don't do half stars here and I decided to be generous by bumping it up to a 4. With that said, this is a very forgettable movie that is mostly like just something to watch when trying to kill some time.

My Review Of "Blindsided"
ASouthernHorrorFan5 September 2019
The story is suspenseful with a clean straightforward story arc that really showcases the movie's nature. It mixes several genre-driven tropes, often playing like a young mystery drama with characters that are related and recognizable. There is a clear atmosphere of horror reminiscent of early 2000's slasher films. Throw in a modern home invasion thriller and it all translates to authentic indie horror fun.

Most movies that try to mashup different styles and concepts fail to take off. The story is either clumsy and muddled or the cast clearly has no clue how to play their part. None of that seems to be an issue with "Blindsided". The story is smooth. And although there isn't anything we haven't seen before in these type of movies, Mitchell is masterful in his ability to contain the tropes, characters and action completely, allowing a comfortable watch.

Like a lot of indie horror suspense plays a big role in creating an element of horror. "Blindsided" makes good use of suspense, shadowing, and cinematography to set a nice thriller edge to the movie. The story progresses into a intense, chilling fight for survival. And there is some well done practical effects done that plays on slasher cinema concepts. For me there could have been more but for this movie's intent everything is as it should be.

Overall "Blindsided" is a cool, entertaining indie horror. The production and execution of the story and it's ability to create a fresh look to "all too familiar" tropes is proof of Johnny Mitchell's talent. On a scale of 1 to 10 the display of horror elements falls around 6 , visible but a bit conservative. Still from start to finish this is one to check out!

Typical but interesting. A little twist here, a plot turn there. A simple and entertaining movie. Enjoyable.

poor production with bad and ugly actors
jitendra-mahim13 September 2019
A foursome of bad actors with poor screen presence furthur nullify an already bad movie with no redeeming features whatsoever... when attemting a cliched plot the direction production and acting can save the movie... nothing here to write home about... very disappointing
