Betsey's made to feel very awkward when her Mum Gloria turns up at the Hotel. Gloria is uncouth, loud, she drinks too much, and uses her daughter's generosity, much to the annoyance of Sonny. Lady Hamilton is treated to Gone with the wind with Lucian, but is devastated when she realises that staff are sat behind her. O'Hara is offered a promotion, but it seems it's just a way to stop Americans hearing news of the Nazis.
A very grown up episode, great stories for Betsey and Lady Hamilton. Betsey seems to be getting closer to Sonny, he's definitely smitten with her. Nice also to see a more human side to Lady Hamilton's character, but also it reminds us that Social position was more important then all else during this time.
Beautifully acted, it's way more engaging then when it debuted. Wonderful characters, great stories. Maggie O'Neill was brilliant as the brash Gloria, I hope very much that she returns.
