War is ripping Western Europe apart, Holland has surrendered, and German tanks have moved into France. The family gather for Lord Hamilton's funeral, his late wife is quick to get Freddie to enact her wishes, dismissing Richard. Richard's efforts to find work elsewhere fail, it seems he crossed the wrong person. Emma and Kate enjoy a night out, where she meets Freddie, who slips up about Richard's dismissal. Emma manages to get Freddie to reverse his decision, Priscilla takes the news badly.
Beautifully stylish, the nightclub scenes are fabulous, super slick. The music is fabulous. An interesting dynamic is added with the Austrian kitchen porter, the problems Austrian refugees would have faced.
It built on really well from the first episode, more characters have come to life, particularly Freddie, his love for Emma is intriguing. Great scene where Richard informs Priscilla that he's staying on, perhaps the highlight.
Enjoying this very much 8/10
