The presentation of the animals is cute and funny; however, the list is mostly populated by different types of penguins and monkeys. Don't get me wrong, those are both cute, but it got annoying by the last episode.
At some points they say some animals are "soooooo unconventional", but they don't include ones that would be honestly unexpected like bats or snakes. Plus the end rating of the 72 animals seems so arbitrary and bogus and this show got me much more riled up that it should have (like, I literally just made an imdb account so I could complain about this, because I was too embarrassed to do it on fb).

I can't recommend this show's listing (which is what the show is focused on) because the moment it rated Orangutan 6 places higher than the Red Panda it lost all credibility. It maybe an interesting creature with quirky mannerisms but cuter than a fluffy red panda it is not. More seriously it's probably a great show for children to watch as an introduction to wildlife but after a short time it becomes grating to watch. Not the worst show of it's kind but also not even close to the best. A solid middle of the road animal program for people who like that sort of thing but con't find anything more interesting, educational or artistic.

As an adult, I found this to be an OK show and agree with some other reviews that the title is confusing. They do try to explain it's not all about how "cute" the animals look, in a fuzzy and cuddly sort of way. Nonetheless, it is hard to get past that description. Maybe they should have called it, "72 Likeable Animals." That would be more inclusive for more animals people don't necessarily think are the cutest. Anyhow, I think it would be a FUN way for kids to learn about animals! They can guess where their favorite animals will line up, watch them move around the list ... and discover new favorite animals along the way!

The list was absolutely horrendous. idk who judged the list but I think they've probably got a can of baked beans in their head instead of a brain. The top animals were not "cute" animals whatsoever. They were more "interesting". DO NOT RECOMMEND unless you wanna get really mad at the list.

This show certainly kept us passionate throughout quarantine- and not in a good way. You might ask, why are two adults watching this? We asked ourselves that by episode two, but like a car crash, we could not avert our eyes. It starts off strong, showing cute animals in an informative way. The quality showed a steep decline midway through episode two with the introduction of the repulsive tree kangaroo, somehow beating out the friendly and adorable quokka (seriously, look it up). The show only gets worse from there. The animal experts are swiftly replaced by weirdly passionate but clueless individuals. The list becomes 40% penguins, 40% monkeys, 15% wrong, 5% cute. The end result is a blasphemy and far cry from where it began. For God's sake, red pandas and quokkas weren't even in the top 20! Dogs and cats weren't even mentioned on the list, definitely a hot take. Elephants barely made top 10, and only did so by being randomly tossed in moments before the series conclusion. By far the worst part of the final ranking was the Malayan Tapir, an absolutely frightening animal which, we would like to remind you, beat red pandas, quokkas, and arctic foxes. I feel that we shouldn't be this enraged by a show that promised informative and fun entertainment, but at least we aren't the first couple to have made an IMDb account just to rant. Some of this boils down to personal preference, but some choices were just plain wrong. Don't be like us. Run.

This show has some pretty good things but in this a lot of my favorite animals including dogs especially and also a bunch of other things but I would definitely suggest it for educational reasons and just also cuteness.

Rats are in the top 72, ahead beautiful animals such as the Bobcat and Bird of Paradise. The show also bleats on about behaviour being cute, and has the sloth rated highly because it barely moves - but what about creatures like the Bowerbird, ignored despite its amazing courtship behaviour?
Cats are widely regarded as one of the cutest animals on the planet, but here no cat makes the top 20! Tapirs do, though, and two types penguin. Red Pandas (have you ever seen an ugly one?) also miss out on the top twenty.
Bizarre list that missed countless cute animals in the 72, then forgot to put most of the cute ones they included in the final top 20 ranking.

Girlfriend outraged over Red Pandas placement. Although we enjoyed watching all the animal shots, it was soured by disappointing rating after disappointing rating. Personally I think the penguins are fine but hairy rotten teeth monkeys are not a replacement for red pandas or koalas.

Honestly, who the Frick, wrote the ratings for this show, beyond shocked tbh. How the bajeepers did an orangutans beat a red panda when orangutans look like fat orange hairy babies with stupidly long arms. What a disgrace to the red panda society. NOT TO MENTION GIRAFFES CAME IN LAST PLACE WHAT ACTUAL FLIP WERE THEY THINKING, SMOKING ON THAT CRACK PIPE BEFORE THINKING UP THE RATINGS, livid would be an understatement to describe how I feel about this show.

Nothing remotely feline made the top 20? How could this possibly be? A Highland Cow rated higher than tigers? in what world? Who on earth was on the judging panel? A multitude of penguins as well as sea creatures were unjustly allowed in the running, whilst those fully deserving of a title were dismissed without any real consideration.
The structure of the programmes,as well as the system for rating was entirely flawed, and as another viewer with me commented - "I'm certain that cats have more views on Youtube" - a solid metric that cannot be argued with. As much as I would love to give the series a 1/10, I cannot dispute that the top 3 - 3) Orangutan, 2) Polar Bear, 1) Panda, was appropriate (although polar bear should have pipped the panda to the post).

I just can't believe you guys put HUMPBACK WHALES ahead of ferrets like cmon. You know that was wrong. You were just trying to keep this ranking thing you do feel like a competition with surprising upsets and not obvious winners but it's not ok man. You have to put yourself in the audience's shoes. What would you think if you saw that? Would it make you feel good? Respected? No. Absolutely not.

Seriously, for a ranking show I was completely dumbfounded by the ranking once I got past episode 3. By the end, the "Top Ten" of the 72 CUTEST animals contained an orangutang and NUMBER ONE, followed by six different kinds of penguins' tortoise, and a rat. The only actual cute animal on that list was the red panda, which is adorable. But it was number 7 out of 10. I want a word with whatever idiot was in charge of ranking these animals. Do you think cats are cute? You're wrong according to this guy. How about dogs? Wrong again. Ferrets? A serious competitor right? Wrong! How about a lemur or a koala? Nope, think again.

72 Animals presents some animals with more bias and more science than others. I found that odd. Lots of science in the 1st show, and by the time the 5th show came out, when talking about the animals, it seemed more about people talking about their pets and less about interesting facts. So the quality was VERY uneven. Yes, the ratings were goofy. I couldn't understand the logic.
But watching the videos was amusing if you have nothing invested. And only if you are not looking for education by about the 4th show.
(One mild amusement for me - a lot of the handlers of various animals would compare the loyalty of *insert animal here* to a puppy or dog. I found that interesting, that the dog is our benchmark. I love my dogs.)

That fact that they showed clips of ferrets but didn't have them in the 72 at all really bugs me as well as how many penguins and monkeys. No birds that actually fly except the peacock or just small turtles or no bats. It was quite a rage show instead.

Not that anyone asked but I do not agree with this ranking that the show has portrayed. I love seeing the animals but there is no way an Orangutan is cuter than a Sloth or a Red Panda. Had several warm and fuzzy moments but I am just disappointed. Thank you and have a nice day.
