Football, dragons and an Android School Inspector.

Warning: Spoilers
A traumatised Ram struggles to deal with the horror of seeing his girlfriend killed, he makes an effort to return to football, but his artificial leg is holding him back. Returning to speak to his coach he discovers a scene of horror, the coach mutilated. The strict and demanding coach Mr Dawson sports some impressive tattoos, could he hold the key? Meanwhile Miss Quill faces an Ofsted inspection, she believes his evil.

Poor Ram, no wonder he's a bit down in the dumps, he's seen more death then the grim reaper. You can understand why he's a bit sulky. I'm a little perplexed as to his reactions with the carnage he's witnessed, describing the events as 'horrible.'. It ended in a similar way to Hide, wasn't too bad.

The monster is quite well designed, but after the previous grown up feeling episode, this one felt closer to The Sarah Jane Adventures then Torchwood, with Charlie virtually playing Like.

Flawed, but enjoyable, certainly stylish 6/10

The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo

Well they have met the Doctor, they have been brought together to fight the aliens that enter through the walls of time and space.

In the second episode they are still less like a team and more a disparate band of teenagers. Ram is moping due to the violent death of his girlfriend and the loss of his leg although the Doctor gave him some kind of an advanced prosthetic leg.

Of course maybe Ram should had got used to his new leg before starting football training because his coach is certainly not happy with his sudden lack of form. Your girlfriend being killed by aliens is not a good enough excuse for him.

The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo (great title) focuses on the school's stern sports coach who has a moving tattoo of a dragon on his back that he talks to. Who is in control, the coach or the dragon?

Ram sees the school cleaner being killed by what looks like a moving dragon. Doubtful this will improve his football form.

At the moment Ram and Tanya get along and he tells Tanya what he thinks he saw. Tanya inform the rest of the gang and they investigate but they have to talk to the school's headmaster when the creature suddenly goes loose.

Miss Quill was rather sidelined here as she had the mysterious school inspector to deal with which really did not seemed to be too connected with the main plot.

The resolution was maybe a bit too much of the Moffat era 'love will save the day.' This might had been fine with The Sarah Jane Adventures but not to a series that seems more connected with Torchwood. Then again there could be a conceptual problem of how many times do you have teenagers from a London school blasting aliens to kingdom come.

Definitely an improvement

The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo is better than Class's bad first episode but it's still lacklustre. It sees Ram trying to cope with the events of the last episode, which leads to some emotional moments, but the actor's robotic acting makes it hard to feel for him. Vivian Oparah (Tanya) also comes across as pretty unconvincing in the big moments, although she's better in the funny moments. Katherine Kelly does a good job as Ms Quill, funny, sharp and clearly coming across as an anti-hero. She's easily the most interesting character by a long way.

The plot is okay, I don't think I'm spoiling much by saying it's about a coach who has a mysterious dragon tattoo. It's largely forgettable and isn't helped by a ridiculous-looking monster that's hard to take seriously. The death scenes are surprisingly bloody and gory though which is nice because I was expecting this series to go for a 12 rating.

I kind of enjoyed this one despite its flaws. Not a bad episode but not good either.
