Letty?

Does Letty have any redeeming values? It appears maybe not. I thought she was sleeping with Sean to make Javier angry enough to go after him. But no....just vodka sex with the man she wants assassinated. Javier gets no respect because he won't do the assassinating for her. He's become like her dog on a leash. At this point it's hard to see why he's attracted to her. She's such a liability that he's going to end up on death row if he stays with her much longer.

The core of the show is supposed to be a love story but at this point that's a stretch of the imagination. It would be nice to see a little more strength from Letty and less tears and whining.

Letty: Abusive Relationship Survivor

So is not ANYONE going to point out what a dangerous situation she is in when Sean pushed his way into her room. Clearly she has a mix of emotions and push-and-pull, but she is also encountering her physically and emotionally abusive ex. In a motel. Alone. No backup. She pushes him away a couple times, but how hard is she going to push him until he snaps and potentially beats her or kills her? She is in one of the most impossibly dangerous situations for an abused woman. She is also a survivor. She going to go with pressures in large part because she is quite likely, rightfully, afraid for her life. I think I've been one of the few to see this as a very VERY borderline rape, definitely abuse event, instead of seeing her as purposely trying to hurt Javier.

The story line in Episode 9 is a disappointment to what had previously been a stellar series

I love this show, or at least I did until Episode 9! Episode 10 will determine whether I stay with it or not, if it returns for Season 2. It has been pretty evident throughout the series that Letty is a more damaged soul than Javier. But up until Episode 9, I "thought" that Letty had redeeming qualities, as Javier does. Wrong! Javier is apparently the ONLY person whom Letty has ever been able to count on, and what does Letty do; she sleeps with Sean (whom she says is evil and whom she hates), and then she turns in Javier to the feds, so that she can "maybe" get her son back (the FBI put nothing in writing). Letty is all about herself - the world is full of Lettys' - nothing unique or redeeming about that! Everything Sean said about Letty in Episode 9, Letty proved to be true by her actions. So we are supposed to believe that Letty was so drunk and distraught, that she didn't know what she was doing when she had raw sex with Sean - sorry I don't buy it. And, even if they once had "chemistry," it would seem that the present day drama would snuff out that chemistry. And, what about Javier - seems he doesn't count for much in Letty's world. By the time this episode ended, I had no sympathy/empathy for Letty at all! I hope she does NOT get Jacob back - she will only botch up the job of motherhood because she is too sick. And, what happened to the old adage, "if you love something, let it go, and let it return to you in the right time, otherwise, ...." I really don't see how the writers, are going to write the story line out of this mess, and make it even a REMOTELY BELIEVABLE scenario. The writers "crossed the line" in this episode, and it will be virtually impossible to "right this ship." Another loose story line that kept bothering me is "why does Letty get to keep the Ranger Rover?" When she kicked Javier out in the middle of this episode (because he would not kill Sean), Javier should have taken the car at that time. Instead Letty is driving all over the small town in the Range Rover, and Javier is left with the motorcycle. At the end, he even rides off into the rainy night on the motorcycle, while she is selling him out via a text, and she is keeping the Range Rover. I know the writers have taken a lot of "poetic license" with the story line, but this is just too much to overlook. And, at this point, I am so disgusted with the story line that I want to see Javier go free, and see Letty back in jail. When you consider at all that has happened, Letty not only ruins her own life (while taking no responsibility for that as Sean pointed out), but she has ruined/complicated Christian's and Javier's lives as well. I repeat - I need to see what happens in Episode 10, and if it is even remotely believable, in order for me to want to see a Season 2. The writing, NOT including Episode 9, has been excellent. The acting of Michelle Dockery, Juan Diego Botto, and the entire cast has been mesmerizing. The only weak link in the cast, for me, is the boy who plays Jacob - his acting is flat and one-dimensional, but maybe that is on purpose, since 10-year-olds are not expected to have a lot of depth.
