After “Confessions Among Actresses”, director Kiju Yoshida returned to his political trilogy with “Coup d’Etat”, an account of the attempted overthrow of the Japanese government on February 26, 1936. Similar to the other entries of the trilogy”, “Eros + Massacre” and “Heroic Purgatory”, this final feature was also inspired by true events and a historical figure, in this case ultra-nationalist author Ikki Kita, but is quite a diversion, aesthetically and narratively, from the other parts of the trilogy. In an introduction filmed in 2008, the director explains how the event plays a decisive role when it comes to understanding the way Japan developed towards a more nationalist and ultimately militarist power, which sparked its involvement in World War II, but also paved the way for the protest movement of the 1960s, events he portrayed and referred to in the other features of the trilogy.

Katie Holmes stars in Brahms: The Boy 2, a sequel to the 2016 Lauren Cohan-headlined horror film.
The Boy arrived in early 2016 as a uniquely interesting horror movie offering, not only because it was headlined by Lauren Cohan, then one of the stars of one of TV’s hottest shows, AMC's The Walking Dead (to which she will soon return), but also because of its unique promotional strategy, which teased it as a haunted house movie; something that, as shocked audiences would discover, it is not. Indeed, while the film provided a profitable $64 million bang for STXfilms’ $10 million budget buck, a sequel – barring something straight-to-dvd – was not expected… until now.
Brahms: The Boy 2 is the title of STXfilms and Lakeshore Entertainment movie sequel, which procured a high-profile star in Katie Holmes. The sequel got The Boy band back together, landing original director William Brent Bell, who worked...

For his 85th birthday party in London, Michael Caine arrived in a wheelchair — but never fear, he's still going strong. He just slipped in the snow and broke his ankle. "He's in fine health and great spirits," a spokesman says. After a more than 50-year career in movies, it'll take a lot more than a slip and fall to get Michael to slow down. "My life has improved from decade to decade," says Michael, who found film stardom in 1966 with Alfie after spending nearly a decade toiling on-stage and in smaller roles. "My joy nowadays is not movies, money, or women — I've been married for 45 years to the most wonderful woman I've ever met." (He wed Shakira Baksh, a former Miss Guyana, in 1973 when he was 39 and she was 25.) So what's his joy? "My grandchildren," says Michael of his daughter Natasha's three kids. "I'm devoted to them." Michael and his wife,...

Katie Holmes and Seth Green bond over a mutual foot fetish in their new flick, Dear Dictator. And if that's the sort of thing you're into, E! News has an exclusive clip of their onscreen affair from the offbeat comedy also starring Michael Caine, Jason Biggs and Odeya Rush. Green plays Holmes' married boss in Dear Dictator, and he admits his wife isn't as adventurous in the bedroom as he'd like. "Patty won't let me do this for her. She thinks it's strange," the actor says, to which Katie's character responds, "She's strange!" Of course, Dear Dictator isn't all about this celeb...

The first trailer for Dear Dictator starring Michael Caine has been released and boy is it something special. I’m a huge Caine fan and as of late he’s been on a pretty decent run, but this just looks bad. Maybe it’s the fact he’s playing a Castro-like dictator or maybe it’s the lame jokes, but I’m not looking forward to this one.
Tatiana (Odeya Rush) is a misfit teen, who begins writing to letters to British-Caribbean dictator General Anton Vincent (Caine). When he’s overthrown in a coup, he flees to Tatiana’s home and hides out in suburbia where he teaches the teen to start her own revolution.
Dear Dictator will be coming to Digital Download and DVD, but a release date is yet to be confirmed. Check out the trailer above and let us know your thoughts below.

"Sometimes I feel like you're the only one who gets me." Cinedigm has released the trailer for an amusing indie comedy titled Dear Dictator, which has a goofy, perhaps ridiculous premise. Michael Caine plays a British-Caribbean dictator who is forced to leave his island nation. He decides to move in and hide out with his "pen pal" (is this the 90s?), a young rebellious teenage girl, as played by Odeya Rush (from The Giver, Goosebumps, Almost Friends, Lady Bird). Somehow they make this work in a weird way, and of course he helps teach her how to "start a revolution and overthrow the 'mean girls' in her high school." It's not as bad as it sounds, but it also doesn't look that good either. But, Michael Caine! He's always great, right? The cast includes Jason Biggs, Katie Holmes, Seth Green, and Jordyn Cavros. Check it out if you're intrigued. Here's...

At 84, Sir Michael Caine finally gets the chance to play with Barbies onscreen. He’ll next star as General Anton Vincent — akin to a kindly, English-accented Fidel Castro — who seeks refuge with his teenage American pen pal (Israeli “Lady Bird” actress Odeya Rush) once he’s ousted from his British-Caribbean island. While hiding out in young Tatiana Miles’ closets and garage, the despot enlists her dolls to strategize a takedown of her suburban high school’s clique, The Slushies.
Katie Holmes plays Tatiana’s mom, a doctor’s office employee whose storyline involves getting her toes sucked by her boss (Seth Green). Also part of the comedy’s ensemble is Jason Biggs, cast as the teacher who fails to dissuade Tatiana from beginning her correspondence with Vincent. Set for distribution from Cinedigm, “Dear Dictator” is the latest collaboration of married writer-directors Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse (2016’s “Amateur Night,” a...
