Acting was horrible. most of the movie was stupid and predictable. only reason i gave it 3 stars was for the dolphin. dolphin was the best actor by far!

Pretty much what Bernie The Dolphin/Dolphin Tale would look like on the cheap

Warning: Spoilers
Recommended by "the algorithm" at Netflix, Dolphin Kick follows the story of a family missing the mother and a boy who has stopped swimming because of that. Boy meets dolphin, dolphin gets boy back into water . Fairly predictable where its going to go next.
On a budget of next to sod all, it looks pretty if nothing else. The location shots/establishing shots are nice, but realistically at this budget point pretty much everything has to give. The script and plot is underdeveloped, the acting relatively ropey and you get the impression everybody has walked out of stage school into this, their first professional role and made a complete hash of it in the process.
On the positive side, the dolphin was adorable and easily the star of the show (cheap to cater for as well). Not a total disaster of a film but realistically you get what you pay for in the end product. It could have been better. No, it should have been better.

The concept of this movie is okay,
BUT!
the writing was not good and everything that happened had no explanation or just didnt make any sense. the acting was okay, but not the best, and the special effects werent that good. if you like the movie, your opinion stays with you, but mine also stays
Terrible

This was the most annoying movie I have ever seen. The acting was TERRIBLE, there was way to much makeup on the girl at all times, there was absolutely no plot what so ever, and there were long periods of time where nothing would happen. The only cute part was the dolphin, and they were trying to shoot it. I am shocked in how this actually made it to being a movie. BAD MOVIE ALERT!
The Idea could've been better!?!

I completely disliked the movie, I read the reviews and saw that people liked it, But I thought it was bad, first of all, the Dolphins swimming together was so animated, and not in a positive good way, We have better animators at my school, I go to an art school that focuses on many different arts, one of them is film, I study film, The editors did a good and awesome job, (I'm an editor myself), but the scriptwriters did a horrible job, the idea could've been better, like make the film sci-if, and just edit where the location was, you could've done it all Green-Screen, I watched the movie to the end, and I noticed they just hired their family members to be in the movie, and I'm not judging, it's common in lots of movies. But maybe switch the characters around, and make the script less drastically dramatic, The actors seemed like they didn't know their lines, I might be only 12, but I see mistakes and flaws to, The director disappointed me a lot, So I'll give you a 1, because the editors did good, The boom did 1/10 because the sound was everywhere, But so far I'll give the movie a 1
Not trying to be mean, but why is this a movie

Warning: Spoilers
1. The acting is so bad, boring, and awkward
2. What is the point of this movie?
3. The dolphin was great!!!!
4. But why another dolphin movie, and lack of creative different name. Dolphin Tale & Dolphin Tale 2...and now Dolphin Kick, makes it seem like they're connected, but they're not, and Dolphin Kick is not good
5. The location is set on a island off of Malaysia, where are the Malaysian actors?
6. How did that family get so close to those random people? Why are these students getting so close to this random family? Why are they just sharing all this information. This makes no sense.
7. What are these accents/lack of accents
8. I get that the students can be from around the world, but there seriously isn't any Malaysian or other Asian student studying Marine Biology?
9. Why is that guy so freaking aggressive and mean. So unnecessary!
10. It just wasn't a good movie, and if it wasn't for the kid I was babysitting, I would not have watched it, or let any little kid in my family watch it.
Unwatchable

30mins of my life I'll never get back
Terrible acting
Pointless script
Apart from scenes of beautiful dolphins, this is a waste of film and, as we got it on DBD, a waste of a disc and a container
Apart from that... it was fine
Lol
Good Family Movie

Wanted to watch something swimming related this was aight i guess there's many boring parts and some good parts. As a small production this is impressive how they made the dolphin do all that. Yes the dolphin is in the spotlight
Don't waste your time

Wow, that is 90 minutes I'll never get back. Always looking for good family movies to watch with the kids. But this was a fail for me. I'm usually fine with cheesy and low budget, but this was just too much. TERRIBLE acting, unimaginative writing with underdeveloped plots and characters, so many inconsistencies cutting between views in scenes - especially time lapses where they're in the water switching back and forth between obviously different locations, like beach, to outdoor tropical dolphin pen, back to beach? Very disappointed.
Loved it

There aren't too many movies left out there that are truly and absolutely family friendly! Dolphin Kick is!
In addition, the views of water and the dolphin shots were great! I've seen better actors - but these will get better with practice! Overall a great movie!
You can't afford to make a wise investment in a movie like this!

The main characters in the movie are siblings Skyler (Tyler Jade Nixon), and Luke (Axle McCoy).
A brief summary of the plot is about a young boy, who befriends a dolphin and finds the courage to get back in the water after the loss of his mother.
The possible theme for this story has a lot of messages about protecting the environment, humankind's responsibility for the planet's creatures, and believing in oneself. Whereas, family is shown dealing with grief. Promotes good communication and active participation.
The possible moral for this story is "Do you want to sit around with your toes in the water or dive in?" Moreover, the song, Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong UNITED comes to mind after seeing this movie. Especially, the particular lyrics in the chorus of that song that says "/Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, / Let me walk upon the waters / wherever you would call me, / Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander / And my faith will be made stronger./"
This is a family adventure movie that's for the ages of 11 to 1 year old, but I think 8 to 10-year-olds would like this movie, yet I love this movie as an adult because of how God uses nature with one of His creations to help a boy recover from grief and restore him back to the waters.
In my opinion, the movie was engaging and on point, capturing my attention right from the beginning in seeing Luke's starting point. The soundtrack was inspiring. The acting was vibrant, natural, and good, and had an impressive performance that was believable. The dialogue and the writing gave the story a clever and thought-provoking appeal that made the actors sound intelligent. I loved this movie and feel like it's one of those movies that you'd want to see over and over again because it was lovely and complex. You've seen Christian movies but not like this that will make your kids want to venture on into the deep.
Overall, I would most defiantly recommend this movie because I've learned that dolphins are the most peaceful creatures in the sea so they know how to live peacefully amongst sharks; we can learn a thing or two from dolphins about how to live amongst those who are tough to love, and who could not afford to make such a wise investment in a movie like this.

Much better than reviewed

Warning: Spoilers
The only time I bother to write a review is when my own estimation of a movie seems to be very different from the consensus. I suppose a lot of people read the reviews of this film and pass on by. Who wants to waste time on a movie rated at 4.4? But I thought it was a thoroughly delightful movie. For example, the scene where the boy just arrives at this glorious paradise and is walking along the dock with his nose buried in an iPad is alone worth the price of admission.
So there we are, whisked away to this tropical island paradise where a lost and lonely dolphin latches onto a couple of kids for some friendly social contact. Okay, if you want an intricate and brilliant plot, watch something like a Sherlock Holmes mystery with Jeremy Brett. But if you enjoy an easy going movie featuring a close emotional bond between human kids and a dolphin, this was a delight to watch. There was enough plot to keep me amused. Sure, there was a villain, but when the dolphin saves the life of the villain at the end, Walt Disney couldn't have done it any better. Of course, the dolphin makes it back to his pod finally, and I, for one, felt good about the whole thing. If your taste runs to non-stop anger and violence, there are plenty of movies rated at eight stars and above for your enjoyment, but I would rather spend my evening with the dolphins and the kids who love them.
