According to the BBC, the series isn't based on (or inspired by) the book The Coroner by M.R.Hall. Now that we've got that out of the way...I grew to like the Coroner as it progressed to series 2, and then the rug got pulled out by someone in TV authority so adios to series 3:( Not happy at all.
Oliver Gomm as Clint looks so much like David Spade's doppelganger big time. He doesn't get much screen time in this episode and maybe a spin-off can feature Clint. We learn Clint has a pierced belly button when he went through security at a prison, where he accompanies Jane to investigate a prison murder.
Matthew Marsh is incredibly chilling as Sidney, who may know the whereabouts of a missing girl. Jane confronts Davey about planted evidence to convict Sidney.
Jane's daughter Beth has become hooked on Instagram, which Jane isn't happy about because of privacy and safety concerns.
Mick is mentioned but doesn't appear. Also at the end Malik (Ryan Calais Cameron) is the man, a true gentleman.
