Dirk Gently Catalyst Or What?

2 weeks in the past?
Dirk and Todd are quite literally back in the 'Lab', having to hide from Gordon Rimmer and his goons. They have both Lydia Spring and his dog Rapunzel, but what could Rimmer possibly have up his sleeves that involved them?
A mysterious group of strangers entered led by 'Rainey' who addresses Rimmer as 'Pollock' both groups are now in a standoff situation.
Rimmer takes a central part of the machine and departed, 'Rainey' has his dog Rapunzel.
A new strange figure interrupts their proceedings, heavily armoured and equipped. He questioned Todd and Dirk, who promptly addressed him as Patric Spring. Dirk Gently then recounted Spring's story thus far from its origins in the 1880's, with all of its concomitant complexities.
Can Dirk and Todd really change everything so that non of the foregoing, actually ever occurs at all?
Is Todd finally flipping out when he and Dirk drive a truck from the zoo? Or is fragments of his past actually beginning, to make some kind of sense?
Todd and Dirk enter the Perriman Grand Hotel.
Gordon Rimmer meets Patric Spring with his daughter Lydia, attempting to do his deal.
Spring phones Gently to make their appointment. The armoured Patric Spring arrived in the suite, followed by Dirk and Todd.
All hell breaks out in the Hotel suite, and Todd Brotzman finally gets to make his original entrance.
But in the ensuing melee does Todd, get a glimpse into Dirks rationale?
Dirk Gently and Zachariah Webb discuss their entwined futures, and Todd feels compelled to stick his oar in.
Dirk and Todd return to the Animal Transfer Unit to collect the apparatus they left there, where they argue the toss over what to do next.
Farah is incarcerated in the boot of Rimmer's car, Estevez is there with Rapunzel, and they all become involve in a melee with Weedle.
