Sit home and watch a 2X Porno
BubbleBollywood21 December 2017
The start of the film resembles a TV serial, the second half is loaded with a ton of close-ups of Julie (everything except her face is focused), two most unusual tracks, some kissing scenes all over, a few scenes that look as though they are poor imitations of from 'Heroine' and 'The Dirty Picture', some religious exchanges, an exhausting climax, and the end (Phew! At last the film gets over).

The buzz has already died down and hence, the film has no chance to excel at the box office
fillerruth24 November 2017
ULIE 2 is the story of a girl who is forced to compromise in order to climb the ladder of success in Bollywood. Julie (Raai Laxmi) is a successful film actress who has bagged the biopic of the late Sumitra Devi, the wife of power broker Ashwini Asthana (Pankaj Tripathi). Four months later, she converts to Christianity on her 25th birthday and then informs everyone by addressing a press conference about it. After the press conference, she goes to a jewellery shop where four goons enter to loot. They end up gunning down Julie. Julie is immediately hospitalized. ACP Dev Dutt (Aditya Srivastava) is given the task and he arrests the four accused in a few hours. But he fails to understand why on earth they would attempt to murder Julie when they have simply come to loot the shop. He approaches Annie Aunty (Rati Agnihotri), make- up artist and mentor of Julie, and she narrates to him how difficult it was for Julie to make it big in the film industry. What happens next and how ACP Dev Dutt finds out the truth forms the rest of the film.

JULIE 2 is advertised like a sleaze fest but there are hardly any titillating scenes in the film. In fact, the first half is devoid of any such sequence, except a few shots in the title song, which is played in the opening credits. The scene where bullets are pumped into Julie in the first 15 minutes does intrigue. The investigation by ACP Dev Dutt is too filmy but makes for a nice watch. However, the flashback portions are not that great. In fact, there are too many tracks in the film – the investigation, Julie's rise and fall and rise in Bollywood and Julie's bond with the various men who come into her life. The whole bit is not put together well. Julie is shown to be desperate for love and is heartbroken when she realizes that all men just want to sleep with her. But suddenly in the end, she comes out as an anti-corruption crusader and it's very unconvincing. The entire Sumitra Devi track, which forms the major part of climax, is also childish and difficult to digest. The film ends all of a sudden and one wonders what exactly the point of the film was at all.

Deepak Shivdasani's story gives a déjà vu of Madhur Bhandarkar's HEROINE [2012] and even THE DIRTY PICTURE [2011]. But overall, it's senseless. Deepak Shivdasani's screenplay fails to keep all the tracks in sync. In fact, it's all over the place. Deepak Shivdasani's dialogues are silly and 90s types, that doesn't work, even in mass centres in today's times. Deepak Shivdasani's direction is also dated. It cheats audiences as the promos and posters suggest loads of titillation. But instead, the film has just few minutes of lovemaking scenes and that too much later in the second half. Few questions remain unanswered right till the end.

Performance wise, Raai Laxmi manages to put a good show. She has oomph and also acting wise, she is decent. She is one of the major reasons why the film is bearable. Aditya Srivastava is nice but offers nothing new. He's playing the same character that he plays in the long- running crime TV show 'CID'. Rati Agnihotri is alright and hams at places. Ravi Kishen (Ravi Kumar) is fine as a southern superstar. Pankaj Tripathi is the only one who plays his part with conviction. Nishikant Kamat (Mohit) does well but is an odd choice for a romantic hero. His track suddenly ends in the first half and it seemed like the director was desperate to culminate his scenes so that he can move on to Julie's next chapter. Sahil Salathia (Cricketer Vikram) leaves a mark in a cameo. Dev Gill (Atif Lala) overacts a lot and his character could have been quite interesting but the writing ruined it. Asad Khan (Ambani) gives a good performance. Anant Jog (Benefit Rao), Viveck Vaswani (Shanti), Dolly Mattoo (Julie's mother) and Yuri Suri (Julie's step father) are passable.

Music is poor. 'Oh Julie' works as it's shown during opening credits. 'Kabhi Jhoota Lagta Hai' is forgettable. 'Kharama Kharama' is a very poor inspired version of 'Ooh La La' and 'Naino Mein Sapna'. 'Mala Seenha' and 'Koi Hausla Ho Toh' come almost back to back and are forced to give the film a sizzling touch. John Stewart Eduri's background score is dramatic. Sameer Reddy's cinematographer is simple. Asif Ali Shaikh's editing is nothing special. Tinnu Verma's action is too filmy for 2017 tastes. Ashley Rebello and Tanushka Kitt's costumes are glamorous. N Dharma Rao's production design is theatrical.

No thrill in this Thriller film!!
sauravjoshi8528 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Julie 2 is an erotic thriller film directed by Deepak Shivdasani. The film stars Raai Laxmi, Late Nishikant Kamat, Ravi Kishan, Pankaj Tripathi, Dev Gill. Aditya Srivastava and Rati Agnihotri.

The film is a sequel of 2004 film Julie.

A simple girl rises to be a big star, but the story of her success is not without its dark side.

If you had liked the 2004 creation of the Director then you'll be disappointed by this film and if you didn't liked the 2004 film then you'll surely be disappointed from this film. The film has nothing new to offer with. The screenplay of the film is flawed and fails to keep the momentum of the film intact. The viewers who were watching the film considering the film as an erotic thriller will also be disappointed as there is nothing sensual in the film in fact the previous part still was more sensuous.

The plot of the film seems to be lifted from The Dirty Picture and added a murder into it to make it a thriller. The execution of the film looked tired and half-hearted attempt.

Acting is average to decent. Raai Laxmi was good and impressive. Nishikant Kamat was wasted. Ravi Kishan was too loud and looked just above average in the role of south Indian actor. Dev Gill who played a gangster looked more like a sidekick of the villain of some south Indian film. Aditya Srivastava looked like playing the same character which he played in an Indian TV Show CID. Pankaj Tripathi was probably the only saviors in the acting department.

The film is said to be a thriller but without thrill. If you still wanted to watch the film, please watch it on your own risk.

Julie 2 good movie
montgomerygus25 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
OK let me tell this straight, Julie 2 is not another Sholay, but it is a genuine effort that can be cherished in 2017. It has several high points and also low points. At time you may feel that the filmmaker goes beyond to provide shock and sex value. There is nothing new that has not been presented on screen before, we have seen The Dirty Picture already. But What makes it a delight to Watch is Raai Laxmi! Raai Laxmi is marvellous because she has surrender herself completely to the director, which is a very brave step that any actress would think twice or thrice before doing. But having said this, she is dignified. Raai laxmi literally lives the character and does full justice to the role of Julie. She carries the film from start to finish. Her character doesn't look vulgar on screen. Instead she oozes sensuality. This isn't an easy achievement and she did receive a thumbs up from the audience and critics alike. The movie is surely worth a watch, just for Raai Laxmi's performance and the sake of reality.

Raani Luxni looks great
nimitrajgaria-0035524 November 2017
went for Raai Laxmi and I must say that she is a powerhouse of an actress. She started her career with Akira and here comes her second, Julie 2. Totally contrasting roles. Easily the best female lead performance in 2017. Filmfare worthy material.

There are two more things that differentiates the film from other recent releases. First is the outstanding background score. From the evergreen 'Oh Julie' to the entertaining Mala Sinha', background music is simply superb. Secondly, the blistering dialogs are mind blowing. One jewel after another. So much so that you cannot even keep count on them.

Julie 2 hardly has a dull moment. It does get a bit slow when it goes to the soft side of Julie and her love interests, however, that too remains an integral part of the storyline. Do keep in mind the 18+ rating of the film before going to the theaters and keep the expectations on those lines. If you do, you are up for a treat. Final verdict: Can be seen once on the big screen.

Watched this Movie Today after 3 Years of Release or Say 2 Years and It was Such a Horrible Experience. Don't know why the made this film If They Don't know the D of Direction. It feels like I'm watching Some TV serial with Some Masala . The Trailer Suggested a Erotic thriller type film but the film Doesn't have any Steamy Scenes Except Some Skin Show in Songs. The Scenes in this movie doesn't go well with the flow of the film , I scratched my head and I Hoped to end this Film . Don't what was the Purpose of this film was , I think They wanted to make a film like The Dirty Picture or Something Like Heroine type but this is pure Garbage and One Thing I want To Say that why these makers of the film did reviews on this site lmao , make some good films man Ratings will automatically come !!! Everyone's acting was Just Ok-Ok type. Songs were forgettable not even a One Song which is Memorable !!! Overall - It's Not The Erotic (Hai Hi Nahi) Murder Thriller which I Expected, Watch Only If You Have Nothing to Do in Your Life !!!

Enjoy!

Warning: Spoilers
The trailers and the buzz around the film is quite misleading. The film is not vulgar in its content nor there are double meaning dialogues. The film has substance; really wonder what made the filmmakers promote this one as a mere skin show! The story has similarities with The Dirty Picture but keeps your interest alive with a surprise twist in the plot. The acting is all good, but Ms. Raai Laxmi is a revelation. She is comparable with Vidya Balan and her performance will surely get noted as one of the bests in her career! The direction is crisp and the film is paced well. The show stealer is the music where you get to see both - mass appeal and class appeal.

The film has its limitations as well. The screenplay is very rushed at times and very lame otherwise, more so in the second half. Julie's rise to stardom is not convincing from what is shown but Raai Laxmi somehow makes it believable. Finally here's my one line - The bigger the screen, the better the film will feel. Enjoy!

Warning: Spoilers
I am emotionally attached to the film as I am a die-hard Raai Laxmi fan and I did watch my angel's film - FDFS. Minus a few lowlights, I did enjoy the overall experience. When I came out of the theater there were mixed reviews by critics and Ifeel terrible. I noticed the efforts that has gone in the making, Raai Laxmi has given her best and I say this with full conviction. I sincerely appeal to all that you decide and don't allow critics to decide… Here comes my review on the film – Theatrical trailer and dialogue promos were just the tip of the iceberg. The real part is meaty story and award-winning performance of Raai Laxmi. Apart from Laxmi, other casting is also chosen very carefully. Dialogue are good, background score is rocking and dialogues are clap worthy. Now let me talk about the flaws in the film, one songs seems force fit and few scenes could have been deleted at the editing table.

Julie 2 worked very well for me. It delivers brave performance by Laxmi, supported by punchyone-lines and awesome background score. First half is definitely crisp; second half provides plenty of reasons to stay hooked. Do watch with a non-polluted mind and you'll enjoy!

Warning: Spoilers
Raai Laxmi was seen in a bold avtar earlier but here she outdoes herself, her portrayal of Julie is flawless. She carries the look, her body and the attire with utmost care. Her dialogue delivery, emotions and expressions are topnotch. Direction by Deepak Shivdasani is fabulous. Music is cool and hot too - Oh Julie and Mala Sinha are my top picks. Both are energetic and well picturized. Action, music, cinematography and bg score – everything is apt. Final word - You can buy a ticket now; you'll not be disappointed.

did enjoy every minute

Warning: Spoilers
I did not read critic reviews as I wanted to go with an unbiased mind. I did enjoy every minute that I spent in the theater. I don't know why some critics gave it a 2 or 1.5-star rating? After all, brainless movies have been receiving better reviews these days. But as they say, movies are made for audiences and not for critics; let's see what is in store for Julie 2.

This movie totally makes audience happy, sad, emotional and anxious. The strength of the movie is Raai Laxmi. Her performance is truly outstanding. Hats off to Raai Laxmi for taking up this challenging and incredible role.

Film has some loose moment but can be ignored. Go for Raai Laxmi's performance, a good dosage of reality, mind-blowing music, performances of supporting cast and Deepak Shivdasani's efforts.

Raani Luxmi is good
muttuswami24 November 2017
Julie 2 has remained an anticipated film ever since the release of the poster where a girl is resting bareless on a golden beach. Filmmakers were asking audiences who is Julie? Then came another announcement of Pahlaj Nihalani's association with Julie 2. Both these were just enough to create buzz and awareness. I booked first day first show to just find out how much of erotica is packaged in to a film that is being promoted by ex-CBFC chief who holds a clean and snaskari image. Let me tell you, you'll be disappointed if you go to watch SKIN SHOW ONLY; but you will be pleasantly surprise if you care for BOLLYWOOD GOSSIPS and INSIDE STORIES.

Performance are good, but amongst all Raai Laxmi emerges as a winner. Nishikant Kamat is a surprise element and Ravi Kishen is a waste. Music is soulful and reminds one of the golden era of the 80s, direction is decent, dialogues are spicy and cinematography does npot disappoint. Although Julie 2 comes with flaws, you may certainly not like to miss it in theaters. This one deserves a watch on the silver screen.

Powerful Performances
supbt-0321524 November 2017
Definitely the Bollywood new-entrant Raai Laxmi's brilliant performance. She accurately uncovers the ugly realities of the glam world. Not only is she able to boldly re-enact the cheesy, campy item songs, the seductive bedroom shots, and the scanty, cleavage-spilling costumes, but she is able to illustrate her passion for films and fame, disgust with society's hypocrite nature, starry-eyed dreams, heartbreaks, disillusionment of her recognition and reputation in the industry, and the devastation of rejection by her family, lovers, directors, costars, and the entire nation as a whole. It's indeed a powerful performance and Raai Laxmi emerges as an actor of top quality.

Songs are catchy and fun, particularly "Mala Sinha". The script and screenplay are average. A few dialogs will leave you in splits. Can effortlessly watch this film once again.

Warning: Spoilers
The first feeling that surface (after watching) Julie 2 is 'wow'. Guys, you did pull it off well… in fact you outdid everyone's expectation… The film's has been produced with the heart in its right place and in a great mind. There were big doubts when the first trailers promos arrived. But whatever the story offers you is by far the best you get in the whole year.

From the very first slate the story is gripping… although it does gets a bit boring in second half. The narrative so great it doesn't pass you by in the proceedings but it immerses you in the depth of the character 'Julie'. Hats off to Laxmi (the newbie), indisputably she has done great injustice to the character… She has created an impact that Deepika Padukone could create with her debut in Om Shanti Om…

The most astonishing slice of the film is its script... Though loosely based on real life events, it could get very colourful on screen. Great lines great acting what more can now a days we ask or but still this got more than that. In fact the film shines in every category.

Julie 2
stephensedwardo24 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Raai Laxmi's 'Julie' is a story of nature's unique creation—strong, yet vulnerable; fearful only of betraying her essential self. Raai Laxmi offers a nuanced study of naïve but gutsy femininity devoid of self-pity. Julie is rambunctious and loves to shock, but she's never cheap. It's little touches that catapult this portrayal into greatness: her radiant smile upon catching herself in a studio mirror after Hair/Makeup & Wardrobe have wrought their magic on her for the first time. Julie collects a wildly appreciative crowd by dancing on the tunes of Mala Seenha.

The story gallops, with a riotous soundtrack spurring it on—there's no retard to offer Julie momentary respite. Yes, this package comes with its highs and lows; but I would say it works for many reasons. One can definitely give this one a shot!

Nice Music with Storyline
devbt-0214224 November 2017
The first thing you notice about this film is Raai Laxmi's superb acting, magical musical numbers and a strong narrative. Julie 2 not only delivers what it had promised but also exceeds expectations by introducing a surprise murder mystery. The film is both - thought provocative and entertaining.

A few watch films for its elegance, good acting and high production values. A few watch films for their sleaziness, skin display and controversy. How often do you get both the sides leaving the theater satisfied thinking that they got a great value for money? Deepak Shivdasani and Pahlaj Nihalani's film, Julie 2 has managed both.

Terrific plot and great performances. This one is a good watch over the weekend. Definitely highly recommended!

Warning: Spoilers
What is it all about? Tracing the rise of an newcomer in the film industry and her expectation of love from the men who betray her, form the core of the film.

The Story The Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment controversy exposed the filth that prevails in the world of glamour… Julie 2 hammers home the point that any girl next-door, who dreams of becoming a leading lady in the film industry, cannot reach the peak of success relying on her talent alone. The rise to stardom is a path filled with 'compromise' and though initially Julie (Raai Laxmi) is reluctant, she soon gives in to the casting couch as she realizes that it's the only way to go up the ladder. While fame and money come her way, what she looks for constantly, is love from the men who touches her life. While all was fine, arole where she was to play the star of a politician's wife's biopicrocked her life.

What to look out for? Raai Laxmi, a successful actress with over 40 films in the film industry down south, makes her Bollywood debut with this film. She delivers powerhouse performance. The film is literally HER STORY!

The costumes, accessories, hair styling,make-up, and props are in details; but they seem to be set in the era of the 80s and 90s.Script is tight and dialogues demonstrate depth. Editing is sharp and thus enhances the production value.

Music and background score are apt. Performances are stellar. Cinematography is decent. Sunny This is indeed a good film (if not the best) and will earn decently via cinemas and moreover via satellite. It does have all elements of an entertainer!

Warning: Spoilers
Julie 2 is a tale of lust, pain, desire, ambition, love, struggle, hopelessness and darkness. It's about an aspiring actor & her entire journey that sees her rise and then fall. To add to the main plot is an interesting sub plot of the murder mystery.

Overall: Cinematically, Julie 2 is a decent effort, that has the merit to earn itself a viewing. Of course, the Second-Hour could've been better, but otherwise, there is no major flaw in here to point out. Screenplay is generally good, but it definitely could've been stronger in the Second-Hour. A special mention for the superb dialogues. Cinematography, Editing, Music & Art Design, are mention- worthy.

Performance-Wise: Raai Laxmi stands out from scene one up to the end plate. She delivers a terrific performance that'll make you empathize with her and at times hate her. This is Her boldest and bravest attempt. Ravi Kishan and Nishikant Kamat are apt.

On the whole, Julie 2 is a decent effort. Watch it for Raai Laxmi's stellar Performance!

Warning: Spoilers
A response to critics -Yes,the film is over-wrought, melodramatic and designed as pulp fiction. But it's fun. Don't wear a microscopic lens, don't be over analytical and you'll definitely enjoy the flick.

The dialogues are amazing, performances are bold. And all this coupled with the movie's approach. The movie can be seen from two lenses. First, which is quite direct, Julie's journey from birth to death and her bold character. Second, the way movie has been made, that is, the life of Julie narrated by Rati Agnihotri. The movie does not depicts only the Julie's life. It's more than that. It's about Bollywood, Underworld and a Case Investigation. This Bollywood movie's approach is in a way similar to Hollywood Movie "Insomnia", where movie was not about the investigation case or the suspense in that.

Finally, all departments contribute in making this a watch worthy film (if not as memorable as Dirty Picture). I did have good time with friends and that what you care for at the end of the day.

Warning: Spoilers
I went with zero expectations and was delighted. Julie 2 is well narrated and wonderfully executed, with electrify and sex value. There were twists and turns in the plot that kept me glued. The dialogues were bit overwhelming and at times funny, but they were refreshing as we don't get them often these days. It had total masala one would look for (yes, item songs too).

Performances were powerful; all did a fantastic job. But Raai Laxmi needs a special mention and she deserves a bow. Music was good; all songs were well woven in to the context. Best thing about songs is they have a mix appeal – there are some for the masses and some for the classes. Filmmaker has done great detailing with regards to the background score. The editing of second half could be tighter and so was the case with the screenplay. Overall, a very decent watch in 2017.

Warning: Spoilers
Movie is really good; nice story and a realportrayal of the film industry. There is an element of politics and underworld too. The film does not rely on skin, it has thrill to offer. But the promotion was the other way round! Acting was great (very natural and relatable, I must say); everyone carried heavy-duty dialog with ease (the risk of looking unintentionally funny was high). A standing ovation to Ms. Raai laxmi for giving her yet another career best, but this time in the Bollywood. Her quandary – whether to rely on her talent or give in to the casting couch is compelling. What I admire the most is the fact that she put on weight for a few scenes and yet was confident in every act. It takes talent and confidence to be able to do so! Music is also good. Wasn't well promoted before the release though! The first part was gripping, the interval has a surprise element and the second part has the desi tadka. In summary, I would say that the movie is very decent!

Great Stuff
devbt-0421224 November 2017
This film has a lot of "style" and "substance". Julie is "bold" and "beautiful", but I don't understand what makes the filmmaker claim that she's "blessed". You will enjoy this thriller despite the apparent flaws. Julie 2 is able to balance the story and the swagger. Twists and turns keep the plot gripping. You will not miss the fact that the director's name doesn't appear in opening credit but at the time of interval. And then the second half - where the pace loses steam. Having said that, other departments are good enough to pull the film until the climax. To the savior are a few melodious songs in the second half. The background score is apt. Dialogues are the highlights; some could go down very well as Bollywood dialogue memories.

Raai Laxmi makes an interesting debut in Bollywood. She is effortless and plays her character with ease. She literally pulls the film all by herself. Indeed the South Indian film industry is known for handpicking rare gems. You can definitely consider this for your weekend watch.

super movie

Warning: Spoilers
I did not have great expectations when I entered the theater (well there aren't any good films this weekend), but I couldn't believe how good this film is! As a viewer, you go on a roller coaster and no other Bollywood film has done in successfully in the recent years (last was The Dirty Picture by Ekta Kapoor). The movie's message is so relevant in Bollywood and every actor (be it male or female) will be able to relate with it. The old /aging actor who still plays young roles, and whose mother is portrayed by an actress similar to his age! Raai Laxmi, Ravi Kishan and others embrace their characters very well. They may have had good fun with such solid written characters that their performance seems so natural. Raai Laxmi's superb in this role and she was very very natural and adorable. She demonstrated her versatility in one film – innocence, competitiveness, distress, fear and more.

The film has good direction and great screenplay. Some scenes and dialogues can become memorable. I really hated when his cricketer boyfriend dumped her. The scene where Raai Laxmi breaks down after he walks out is was very heartfelt. The music in the background brought a tragic love story atmosphere to the movie but at the same time the songs were energetic and super fun. I think everyone should watch this film for the superb acting.

Warning: Spoilers
To start with, this film is made with sheer honesty and sincerity. The film showcases "Life As Is" on the celluloid. And Julie 2is one such films that dares to hold back nothing, it exposes the dark side of the film industry. The film has catchy songs that heavily rely on sensual dance sequences. What one can't miss is Raai Laxmi – she has great screen presence and she does 100% justice in every frame. Looks like this is just a start on another South Indian actress' career in the Bollywood.

Julie 2 is an exceptional story of an ordinary person's rise from strike to extraordinary heights and later fall. In my opinion, the film has got everything to entertain all kinds of viewers in different regions. It has sex, it has shocks, it has a script and has entertainment in full dosage to give you worth of all your money spent on it. It also made me recall a great Dirty Picture and Heroine. And yes, the movie has "entertainment, entertainment and entertainment".

Julie 2
isrealbradley24 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The energy of raai laxmi in the central role is simply enormous. So much so, that the rest of the film was unable to match up and consequently felt bland and weak in comparison. People often ask, if the writer writes the story, cinematographer films it, actors act and music director scores, what does the director get to do? The director must ensure that the energy of all people involved in the project is channelized in a single stream that gets projected on the screen and must be eventually, felt by the audience. This element was a bit weak.

Having said that, there is still a lot to look forward to… The storyline is good, there is more than expectations (trailer portrayed the film as a pure skin show)…. Songs are beautiful and fun… You will feel that you are back in the 90s where madhuri dixit literally made audiences dance along with her moves… Last but not the least, raai laxmi is the biggest reason to go to the cinemas… Can be considered as a fair one-time watch
