This is the first time we see the official catsuits (from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon and comics) worn in live action. They were featured in a deleted scene of the DVD extras on the 2001 release of "Josie and the Pussycats".
Kevin Keller's description of the Pussycats after their performance at the variety show, "Long tails and ears for hats," comes from the theme song to the original Josie and the Pussycats animated show (1970).
The logo for Josie and the Pussycats on Melody's drum set is similar to the one used in the original comic series.
The title of this episode came from the 1965 Russ Meyer film "Faster, Pussycat! Kill, Kill!"
When Jughead jokingly asks Betty "You haven't gone full yellow wallpaper on me yet, have you?", this is a reference to "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a short story about a woman who is forced to go on a "rest cure" by her husband and becomes obsessed with the ripped yellow wallpaper on the walls of the only room she sees.
