John Carpenter: Escape from New York (2016)

John Carpenter last directed a movie in 2010 but in 2016 fans got excited because the legendary filmmaker was taking a band out for a small tour. Us fans also got the director making a couple music videos to show off his band and this one here is a very good rendition of the famous ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK theme. There's no question this version doesn't quite have the sting of the original but it's a very good version and the director makes a good looking video. The B&W cinematography certainly helps make the downbeat score even more dramatic and it there's no question that fans will get a smile out of seeing Carpenter work his magic.

Here we have a live performance of a theme from the John carpenter film "Escape from New York". That one plays in the future, in the 1997 I think, and this shows you how old the movie already is. Oh well, but we shall talk about that one on another occasion. This one we got here is as special as it is short. In black-and-white, we see Carpenter and a band perform the theme inside a studio. Looks good. Sounds even better and I think the tune is kinda catchy as well. So overall, i would certainly recommend checking it out. To everybody, but in parzicular fans of the film or of Carpenter. After initial hesitation, this gets a thumbs-up from me. It's indeed very clean visually and acoustically and I am glad it was released. Almost gets me curious about the Kurt Russell movie it was taken from.
