Supergirl's season two premiere and introduction to Superman started and ended with a bang, with the introduction of Lena Luthor, Metallo and Mon-El to top it all off. Tyler Hoechlin's Superman was great, and I think fans of Christopher Reeves's portrayal of Superman will be pleased. By far the greatest aspect of this episode were the fun moments between Clark and Kara, and seeing National city's response to Superman, although I'm a little uneasy with any iteration of Superman not being friends with J'onn J'onzz.
On a more critical note, I've always had a problem with Supergirl's inability to take itself seriously in terms of writing and direction. I know that when you're working on a network series its not easy to pull off the sophistication of a cable series, but following the Arrow season five premiere's efforts to amp up it's action with long take sequences etc, we know its possible. This episode's lead up to Metallo and Mon-El holds promise that we're in for a much better and tighter story line than season one, but I really hope that the writers give the repetitive Jimmy / Kara drama a rest.
