It was going in a great direction but sadly fell flat. Just when you think there's a twist and it's going to pay off, it's like they just gave up. Really disappointing ending, damn shame!

#cyber bullying
Stanlee1076 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a good film. A grieving sister is still mourning her sister's death as she approaches her 1 year anniversary. She chose that she needs to be proactive (to get closure) as nobody has been found and convicted of being the cause. It shows the potential worst consequence of cyber bullying... She does her own investigation and finds the man (she believes is responsible) & captures him. She's interrogates him...
It is enjoyable to see the main protagonist's mind gets tainted & twisted as she follows through with her plans. The ending is slightly confusing.

Wasted potential and an unsatisfying ending.

The trailer for this looked promising and I was curious by a review that called it a feminist masterpiece. The plot is about a girl who goes undercover trying to expose the man who caused her sister to commit suicide, through online harassment, and bring him to justice.
What I got was an hour and a half of my life spent watching the main character become more and more unlikeable whilst torturing a man who ultimately ends up being innocent. I think the actress who played the main character did a decent job with what she had to work with, it was the script that made me go from supporting her to wanting her to be proven wrong and get arrested.
The ending is the bit that annoyed me the most though. The guy she locks up turns out to be innocent and it's implied that it was his son (or at least I think?). Nothing comes of this revelation and the film kinda just ends without any resolution. Either they ran out of budget or ideas lol.
Not the worst film I've ever seen but I think calling it a feminist masterpiece is a very strange description.

No plot! Doesn't work at all!

This movie is boring. The trailer makes it look pretty good, don't be fooled! It's baseless, no conclusion or explanations for anything. It seemed to maybe possibly be making sense for about 4 minutes and right back off the rails again. Please trust me, it sucks!!!
Nothing 'feminist' about it

So this girl humiliates and tortures random guy because he says 'i double dog dare you' and listens to rock (which is really metal).
She never give a benefit of the doubt to him, she just 100% sure that this is enough evidence to do this to person.
The whole process of torture and interrogation was very disgusting, but i guess terfs liked feminization and humiliation of white plumber dude and thats why this movie is feminist.

Incredibly low rating for a fairly entertaining pix.
Well acted and the story was intriguing enough to keep your attention, ok it's not an Oscar-winning smash by any level, having said that to all the low raters, why don't you try making a film one day?
You'll realize it's not as easy as you imagine. You're all critics and the majority wouldn't have a single clue just what goes into making something even as bad as you think this is.
Enjoy the movie, it's worth 90mins of you're time. 😉

More realistic than Promising Young Woman but uncomfortable to watch at times
jennywaldo11 February 2022
Beautifully shot, well-acted, and moving, this was an uncomfortable watch, which I think was the point. Similar to Promising Young Woman, but less entertaining, this was more gripping in a realistic, heart-breaking, frustrating way that made the middle of the movie slow and hard to watch as it descended close to a kind of torture-porn. It's redeemed by the themes and thoughtfulness behind why everything's happening, but it's ultimately missing an exploration into why the main character suddenly spirals into this madness - how she goes about it is much more thought out than a crime of passion. But the performances between the two leads and their moments together in the basement were strong. I applaud the open ending because - that's life - but wanted more from how this experience changed the main character and where she was going from there. Overall, though, a strong movie from a strong and intentional writer/director.
Very Disappointing

chad-6131313 May 2022
Starts off okay but it turns into unrealistic and boring jibber jabber. Ridiculous ending. Gave it a try because I though Mr. Menchaca did a decent job in Ozark series. Acting was watchable but man, anything else to do with this film stunk. Not sure how it got all the awards and high reviews - well actually I do know why. I'm sure you'll figure it out too. If you have 92 minutes to waste, or you want to fall asleep, give this one a go.
Why the bad rating??

Do not #Like.
sarcasm_for_free19 May 2022
A promising set-up ends in disappointment in #Like, and not just for the female protagonist. A movie very much like Hard Candy in everything but decent execution, it seems constantly on the verge on many different genres... suspense thriller, torture porn, teen romance... before backing away from all of them and just being an unseemly mish-mash of nothing in particular.
This is a real shame as the acting is universally good, and the twist at the end could be impactful under different circumstances. But with so much confusion as to what it wants to be, plus the MANY unanswered questions at the end, you have a half-baked creation of which the best compliment is that it's less than the sum of it's parts.
Next time, try kneading the plot dough a bit more, add a pinch of salt then stick it in the oven for an extra five minutes. The end result will be worth the extra effort. Guaranteed. :) 5/10.

Suspenseful and subtle, with great lead performances

This film had me absorbed within minutes, the way the director introduces the premise while not giving too much away creates suspense and mystery from the beginning which is carried until the end. Sarah Rich's performance is extremely strong, showing both the turmoil and fear this girl is going through, as well as believable teenage behavior when she is with her friends. Marc Menchaca's performance as the main suspect is also very strong, and the film is beautifully shot with a tense, minimal score. Great work overall from director Sarah Pirozek, I look forward to seeing what she does next!
Fails to deliver as a worthwhile revenge thriller
kevin_robbins9 September 2023
I recently watched #Like (2019) on Prime, and the storyline follows a young lady in high school dealing with the loss of her sister to an online predator. As she conducts her own investigation to find her sister's killer, she identifies a prime suspect, captures him, and subjects him to torture. But does she have the right person?
This movie is written and directed by Sarah Pirozek (Crafty) and features a cast including Marc Menchaca (Ozark), Jeff Wincott (Night Heat), Sarah Rich (Purple Hearts), Ramon Nuñez (First Reformed), and Dakota Lustick (I Feel Pretty).
While the premise for this revenge thriller had promise, #Like falls short in execution. The acting, torture scenes, and interrogations come across as awkward and unrealistic. The dialogue and exchanges between characters feel weak, which is disappointing given the potential for strong, tension-filled confrontations. Although there are some interesting subplots and stories, they often get overshadowed by poorly executed interrogations, particularly in the interactions between Menchaca and Sarah Rich. The ending leaves viewers feeling unfulfilled and wanting more.
Overall, #Like is a missed opportunity and ultimately fails to deliver as a worthwhile revenge thriller. I would rate it a 2/10 and recommend skipping it.

Horrible ending
michelleropp16 September 2023
Very unsatisfying ending, and honestly not a great story for something that was described as a "thriller". It was a slow movie and not good, it didn't hold our attention well and there really should have been more closure at the ending. I would have expected more twists and turns, and honestly more dialogue. I would not recommend this movie for anyone who is looking for a thriller, because it is absolutely not that. The ending was extremely frustrating and you're left with no answers or any sort of resolution. Do not waste your time with this movie, it isn't worth it. Would give zero stars if I could.
Feminist vigilante thriller or a portrait of modern teen girl angst?
Wuchakk19 May 2022
A teenager (Sarah Rich) is filled with anger over her sister's death from a year prior. Since the hands of the authorities are tied, she seeks to find the mystery man on the internet responsible. James Hetfield costars, um, I mean Marc Menchaca.
"#Like" (2019) is a drama/thriller that tackles online harassment, anger, frustration, vengeance, victimization and the problems that naturally proceed from faulty detective work. It's not just a "feminist" film because it's balanced about the struggles of life in a fallen world, whether female or male.
It's an Indie that meshes elements of "Misery" (1990), "10 Cloverfield Lane" (2016), "Wildflower" (2014), "A Dark Place" (2018) and "The Clovehitch Killer" (2018).
The open-ended climax is a bit of a letdown because it comes across as a shrug, but everything the writer/director wanted to say was successfully conveyed; and the details of how certain things pan out are irrelevant. The protagonist's lesson is the viewer's.
The worst thing about this flick is that it's strapped with a lame title.
The film runs 1 hour, 32 minutes, and was shot in Woodstock, New York.
GRADE: B.

The danger of internet stalking, for modern times.
RatedVforVinny23 April 2021
Suspenseful and frightening story that will have you gripped into the chain of events. One year before 'Alone' the great Marc Menchaca, plays yet another onscreen baddie, who this time though is the hunted quarry (and for good reason). The said actor has previously been in a lot of U. S TV shows and is now breaking in to these type of low budgeted, high tension thrillers.

Searing Neonoir Character Study
maralizinski8 November 2021
This movie tackles teenage female harassment, objectification, and cyberbullying in complex ways. Messy topics means the movie is messy in a good way. It's more of a drama/neo-noir than a horror. The film's assured style and tone are deftly handled by director Sarah Pirozek, and newcomer Sarah Rich is excellent - definitely someone to watch in the future.

A Movie To Make You Think...A Great Watch
philhale-9393528 January 2021
When life is complicated and people's emotions and motivations shift and confuse it is refreshing to find a film that takes that reality head on. The themes of #Like are right on point for today's world where the internet is a source of distrust and pain as much as a benefit to mankind, authorities can be unwieldy and surety can lead to unforeseen conclusions. Marc Menchaca and Sarah Rich combine to create a dark tension that pervades the film, their respective characters struggling to make sense of their situation as the "truth" spirals and confounds them. #Like is not going to tie up a story in a nice neat bow for you, the journey is as much the message of the film as the destination. Well worth taking the trip.
I saw Like, it was really, really good
sarah-52228 January 2021
I saw Like, it was really, really good , kinda like the much more grim Blue Velvet/Breaking Bad-esque answer to the school of thought/feminism in that movie "Promising Young Woman" currently out now...it's funny how the death of the main character's sister, in an eccentric/interesting way, ends up not truly being what the film at large is about, it's more about what the horrors are of working so hard to be part of such a messed-up/biased/ignorant culture that has so many people perishing and suffering within it in ways people ignore, but yet also aggressively fight against that culture at the same time in a way no one knows about
, heh, but yet what more can u really do in this day and age? I feel like the bond between the girl and this guy she takes hostage kinda goes beyond Stockholm Syndrome in that way, that they both kinda recognize that in a way that goes beyond the "Did he or didn't he" question...but then, of course, she gets plunged back into her despair all over again in the end, heh, that's what really makes it a film noir, which I love
...great work!
