Decent, but not great. Spoilers.
todorsmarko8 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Overall a pretty decent episode, we got to see bit more about British Man of Letters. There was recurring character from previous season. And plot is shaping for the finale, which is most likely going to be all out war against Lucifer and potentially in next season it's going to be against his kid. This episode could have easily been 10/10, but Mick's death was not dramatic enough. He was one of the main cast members in season 12 and audience was finally starting to see eye to eye with him, we got to see why he is who he is, and they took him out so suddenly. And rolled out another scene. They seriously undermined his character.

Codes are meant to be broken
Kingslaay7 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Another decent episode in the series so far. This episode acted more like a filler and set up for bigger story lines later in the season. It was nice to see Eileen, the first deaf hunter in the show. Clearly hunters come in all forms. In the devil's den, Lucifer, even though in chains, managed to convince his followers and us at home who the real king of hell was. There would be 'hell to pay' for anyone who abandons him. He eagerly awaits the birth of a son. Humorous moments included Castiel's voicemail where he asks you to literally make your the voice the mail, supernatural blends comedy and drama effortlessly.

The focus was more on the British Men of Letters and the importance of their code. We see a young Mick Davies having to choose the code over his best friend and kill him. The organization with its brutal rules and focus on efficiency and extermination has some echoes of Nazism. On the other side we see a sense of reasoning prevailing with the Winchesters who have more than once tackled tricky situations. Sadly Mick was killed for disobedience, just when the Winchesters were trusting the blighter. We are shown the true and dark nature of the British men of letters. Mary will have to pick a side now as she can't have her cake and eat it too.

The upcoming birth of the devil's son, Lucifer's plans and of course the hit now on the Winchesters by the British Men of Letters will shape up for some exciting last episodes of the season.

The most interesting British Men of Letters episode
CubsandCulture5 July 2021
This is the only time in the season where the British Men of Letters is interesting...it is almost compelling. The notion of the BMOL's code and its rigidity provides a nice contrast to the Winchester's making moral decision making. It even vaguely fits into the show anti-clerical (anti-organized) vibe that it does now and then. If more of season 12 set-up the British Men of Letters as a cult instead of a spy ring this would be a high point in the season. Instead the episode is frustrating because a much clear and thoughtful storyline is implied by this episode existing. Mick could have been a good foil for Sam/Dean if the writers were more careful prior to this episode.

The rest of this episode is standard issue filler to stretch out the season.

Men of Letters! Done!
paulpi-9969019 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Just like the men of letters are done with the American hunters, I am done with the British men of letters! They have to go down! They are really just as big monsters as the monsters they hunt.

Sam and Dean need to destroy the f..ers. Seriously what has happened to them. I expected more spine from them when dealing with the BMoL rather than just pleading with them.

Poor Mick, he really was the last good one. With him gone, there is nothing stopping me from hating the BMoL.

And then there's Ketch, not really terrifying when all he does is being a good lap dog for the Brits. I mean, he clearly does not agree 100% with the '' f.... code'' and still he just stands there. But unless something changes with him soon, there will be no leniency from me in regards to his character.

But all in all excellent episode. I hate the BMoL now more than Lucifer hahaha, which is funny and annoying at the same time this episode. If Crowley doesn't know what Luci is doing, the he's really got this coming. I really hope that he sees right through Luci and has a plan.

Actually a great episode!
nightshiftee19 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Some of the reviews here are too simple and childish.

Yes, this season has been rather mediocre compared to the others (especially 11), but what did we expect after god and his sister??

They still manage to bring an interesting enough plot and in this episode it really brought some surprising moments. It gave a completely different outlook on the British men of letters, more substance. The obvious joke with the Hogwarts style school (even the woman looks like the one teacher in a Harry Potter movie) but then - boom - brutality. Wow. Another such moment was the death of mick, they really got me there! Wow :D This ketch character is another mystery box. He appears to be a dog who listens to every command but especially after the night with Mary and his time with dean, his subtle face expression, it makes for an interesting continuation of the story.

Well done.

Terrible and pointless
shwetafabm29 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Dear god this is perhaps the most ridiculous and forced thing plot wise. The writers tried to hard with the bmol and it doesn't work. It's not believable. The whole trap thing leads us nowhere. The whole Lucifer and Crowley thing was old in S11. Also i don't care much for Mick at this point, i don't care for Mary and whatever she is doing.

Are you friggin kidding me??
janedoe530011 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What is this, horror for 10 year olds??? Trying desperately to make the BMOL menacing, the writers actually want us to buy that they have a school where they have to kill each other as kids, to "learn obedience"!? Are you friggin kidding me?? How can such a great show have such horrible horrible moments?? It's insulting, it's fan-fiction level writing, it's teenage melodrama, it's embarrassing...

Warning: Spoilers
I liked supernatural all season but this was bit out of sense the mother Winchester having night time with british men of letters and the Brits are killing every hunters for saving human from monsters. This is beyond I can't have this and what is it with killing every character each episode someone has to die and Mary w. Working with british why . This episode is good but I think it's time to End the series

Seriously?
Aries_Primal15 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know... I love this show and I've been watching since... But this is too much already. First, after all the monsters gone, died, killed by Winchesters, now human kind is on the line? What will happen, they will destroy British Men of letters? And how came Crawley being such an idiot to let devil gain power? How that deaf chick could not shoot again and kill the girl with his baby, how some old witch rule the entire system? And how damn it Merry could leave her children to have sex with one of those rats? Seriously? For real? At least camera could not show her so close, we could see her age completely clear. And Dean too, he has been tired entire the time. Of course, some fresh sarcastic lines, mad spark in his eyes, but... This show is dying. Well, season is better than the last one, which was the bottom of all seasons. Just one last thing - new hairstyle of Sam - better shoot me now!
