Good episode with a couple of minor flaws
jagborpapsyket20 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a really good episode. It's always pleasant to see a "ghost of the week episode" to mix in with the heavier stuff. And seeing Cas and Crowley work together was really fun!

There are a few things that bother me though.. first of all I don't like that they brought mother Mary back. The whole show was built up on her death and seeing her alive and kicking feels like it's ruined a bit of the shows essence. I was hoping she would just be around for a few episodes and that she'd turn out to be some sort of illusion or something, but by the looks of it *spoiler warning* she'll keep appearing in a lot of episodes up to date.

The other thing that bothered me is Lucifer's new vessel. This guy is nothing like Lucifer has been portrayed in the past seasons by Mark Pellegrino and, in last season, flawlessly re-enacted by Misha. He lacks all of the mimic and wit and seems more like some pissed off demon than Lucifer himself. It's not that he's a bad actor, he just doesn't fit the role. Is it just me?

Perfect combi!

Warning: Spoilers
I love to see Cas and Crowley together! Perfect combi among angel and demon 😆 and Dean's said "Morning, sunshine" made my day... I can't say anymore but happy! Love you both!

May I hate Mary just for a second? Her acts in front of her sons made me uncomfortable, I know she just back from the death after a long time and need adaptation for the whole world wich is changes a lot, I can't imagine if I become Mary who was death and stay peacefully in heaven then dragged to the earth again. She is amazing, still, the real professional hunter being, her intuition softest than the boys, but, I just, I can't stay focus when I see Sam's face, he never had a chance and didn't have good memories with his mother, when his mother returned, he has a high expectation about that.

Maybe she just need time, she looks awkward in front of them, I am so proud the boys so mature to understand their mom's situation, I need to see mother and sons intens conversation more than this, especially for Sam.

Some flaws

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty entertaining episode. I always love seeing Cas and Crowley team up because they are two of my favorite characters. It's nice having regular Cas back with Dean and Sam in the bunker. The humor is good too (idk why but agent beyoncé and jay-z was just so funny to me). Seeing Rowena send Lucifer to the bottom of the ocean was also a nice add-on to this episode and gives her a little payback. However, the actor playing Lucifer just doesn't feel like Lucifer. He feels more of like a regular demon. To be completely honest, they should not have brought Mary back from the dead. The whole show started because of Mary's death. Bringing her back makes the show feel like it's going downhill. I really am not a fan of her. She's boring, if she's such a good hunter she should know better than to walk into that haunted house alone, she just isn't clicking into the series. Don't even get me started on the end. Dean finally got his mom back and Sam finally got a chance to actually be around her and make memories with her, yet she decides to abandon them?? Season 11 was a big hit or miss, some episodes were good and some episodes were bad but season 12... I honestly don't know how it's gonna play out. This episode was alright but the next episode's kind of boring.

The show is on autopilot.
CubsandCulture21 June 2021
Everything about this episode bugs me because it is put together well enough to hold your attention but it is so obvious where it goes that it has no spark. It is another ghost story when the boys fall for a red herring. Mary has trouble to adjusting to computers and modern hunting techniques. There's some tension among the family that they can't put into words!

There are worst episodes in this season but this is a the perfect example of why this is such a weak season.

Beginning of Decline

Warning: Spoilers
This is the second time i am watching the series and now i have decided that the series shouldn't have been forcefully prolonged. Most importantly, Mary Winchester's inclusion (revival) was a bad idea. All in all, the series should have ended with either season 5 or 11 when god left. I think even the writer Kripke was aware of this.

Ghosts and Beyonce

Cass and Crowley were a bit fun i suppose. It's a typical ghost hunting. Mary's intentions seem well conbeyed... I just don't care for it. This Lucifer dance is also getting old.

Grumpy Mom Bored with Sons
Johnny_West11 October 2023
So Mary Winchester gets brought back from the dead by The Darkness, and almost immediately she is complaining about being alive. Her happiness at seeing her two sons lasted about five seconds, because they were not the children she remembered. Now they were a couple of thirty year old alcoholics.

Another oddity is that Mary was under 30 years old when she died, yet she comes back way into middle age. How do you get old and wrinkled if you died young??

Instead of taking off on a cruise with Mom, or a trip to Europe, Asia, or Alaska to have fun and spend quality time with Mom, they hand her a flashlight and a cellphone and start hunting critters. Mom is not familiar with computers and the internet, so her sons look at her like she is a loser.

Generally, Mom and her kids have less than zero chemistry, and I have to wonder who picked the actress that plays Mary Winchester? She looks dreary, depressed, and miserable in every episode that she ever appeared in. What a drag.

So it is no surprise when Mom tells her kids that she is moving on, because she needs "space and time," to get over the fact that she cannot stand to be around her two sons, and keeps hoping that she was dead again. Good times, sadly scripted by really bad writers.
