"Mum"
ygwerin16 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Lucifer Morningstar had an unfortunate errand to attend to in hell, but what he discovered there disturbed him immensely, a very particular dammed soul had escaped, his Mother.

He became obsessed with what he feared may be the consequences, why had she decided to leave, and what in particular had she chosen to do.

He sought counsel with his brother Amenadiel, and with Mazikeen, he agreed to help, but she would not even hear him out.

The obvious idea was that she would need to locate a human vessel for her to inhabit, and the brothers embarked on what proved to be a fruitless quest.

Until a somewhat disheveled woman decided to knock on Lucifer's front door, although they hadn't seen each other for quite literally eons, he had no trouble in recognising her.

Mum's arrival on her sons doorstep provided further somewhat disturbing, complications in the shape of her physical form, combined with a mysterious male corpse.

Lucifer decided that Mum's tales of woe were somewhat fishy, and needed to be thoroughly scrutinised, to keep her out of circulation he decided to billet her at his place, and lumbered Mazikeen with the babysitting duties.

The police precinct has a new arrival in its Forensic Department Ella Lopez, who handles these aspects of police investigations, she is a wonderful young woman with a seemingly perpetually sunny disposition.

Dr Linda Martin is still more than miffed with Amenadiel, after what she feels is his duplicitous behaviour, in gaining her trust and choosing to betray it.

Continuing its entertaining course...
Dr_Sagan4 October 2016
I wrote in my previous review for the S02E01 episode that the show Lucifer "It finally found its character!". I'm glad that it seems to be willing to continue its entertaining course...

The (unnecessary) drama is limited, and even that is wrapped with witty humor. The whole atmosphere is light and entertaining. This episode has also a very good comedic timing (which is essential to deliver the jokes and the funny situations).

Tricia Helfer seems like a welcoming addition to the cast. She looks hot and she can handle the humorous lines with ease.

A minor let-down is the gradual revealing of the "mythology" behind these supposedly celestial beings. Especially now that Luci's mother is around. "...all my children in Heaven","I want what your father took from me. I want my home back.". The "Heaven" seems too casual and too humane. All these descriptive comments make "heaven" too simple to swallow.

Anyway that's not the point. The most relevant question always is "Is it fun to watch?". Well the 2nd season started good and it improves. Now that Lucifer found its character as "A light supernatural action Comedy" (and disavowed the ...actual devil worshipers (!)..) I think it is a worthy series to watch for 42 minutes of light entertainment.
