Dragon Ball super has found its middle
sam_smithreview23 May 2016
The show has found its feet, and has landed in the Plataea period. It is very close to the original Series, where it takes you to side mission and villains that may not be the greatest threats, but are still fun to watch. That is what i Love, instead of having to create some super bad ass bad guys again, we have the not so strong bad guys that are still fun to watch and can cause lots of trouble for Goku and the team. This Episode sees Goten and Trunks get into mischief when they lock them selves in Monaku's delivery truck. Things only get worse when they encounter new enemies that are out to still the super strength water which resides on Planet Potaufeu.

It's a good episode with lots of funny humor similar to Dragon Ball and is not bad to watch while the new manga gets released so as the show can continue.

Space Candy and Superhuman Water
The episode is titled 'Seal of Planet Potofu - Secret of the Superhuman Water Is Unleashed!', which, of course, raises all kinds of questions. First of all, if there is 'superhuman water', then there must be 'human water'. If so, is that more of a 'baby oil' or a 'sunflower oil' kind of situation? Secondly, the instalment introduces a new, seemingly all-powerful enemy, but there are three episodes left in the arc. I feel our heroes will be rushed and the number of planet-annihilating explosions will remain below the established median.

On the other hand, it is delightful to see more of Vegeta on screen, especially with the 'proud Saiyan prince' acting the part of a family man. May his hair never lose its volume.

One of the newly-introduced characters, Potâju, is a half-elderly-man, half-scarab - a curious design that brings to mind King Kai (a divine creature equipped with cricket antennae, featured in the same episode) and also Kamaji, the six-armed spiderlike old man from Spirited Away (2001). In contrast, the design of the villain, Gryll, is quite uninspired.

A welcome sign of more peaceful times is that not just Goku, but children (Trunks and Goten) are allowed to act childishly. When Goten was at a similar point within the Dragon Ball Z saga, his fate was less fortunate.

A filler episode we can all enjoy

Warning: Spoilers
After last episode poor Pan filler, this is a vast improvement.

It definitely pays homage to Dragon Ball, with Trunks and Goten essentially being like young Goku.

We are shown a mysterious new villain and are now unsure just how powerful this Vegeta clone villain is going to be and for how long he's going to be in the show for.

Nice to see the show take a break from Goku and explore the side stories of the other characters.

An improvement at least

Warning: Spoilers
I'm very eager to see where the series goes, but this doesn't seem to be very relevant to the plot. This episode features Trunks and Goten stowing away on Monaka's van. Monaka gets another delivery to Planet Potaufeu. This planet is being attacked by a group of thugs led by a guy Jaco is after. He and Vegeta go to this planet to save them. The episode ends with the villain making a jelly like clone of Vegeta.

It's great to see Trunks and Goten in action. I love how Vegeta is genuinely intimidated by Bulma. Nowadays, she really is the more aggressive of the two! I love the idea of Vegeta going so far to save his son. Now it is annoying how this doesn't seem to have much relevance to the plot. I want a new story arc being made. ***
