Annoying Non-Stop Violin Music
Johnny_West2 November 2021
The violin music is so loud that I had trouble hearing the characters talking. Just non-stop drama and music of doom. It is really overbearing.

Tim Roth has a new job as Police Chief. His family is getting settled down when Roth decides to fight the new refinery and its billions of dollars. Before long, Roth and his new best friend, the local doctor, are facing scandals. Shortly thereafter, his house is being burned down, shot at, etc.

Tim Roth is no Rambo. His character is an alcoholic loser who blacks out and has no idea what is happening to his family. Not a good father, considering that people are trying to kill him and his family. The repercussions of Sheriff Roth's never-ending drunken binge will be horrible and permanent. The loud obnoxious violin music only makes it more depressing.

CooperSmith!!

Warning: Spoilers
This is a good drama. It's been unfairly slated, I can't work out why. The scenery is stunning. Really good. Some of the story line towards the end is a little far fetched, but pulls it off. The surprise of the series is the acting from CooperSmith. Outstanding. Possibly the best part of the series. Hope to see season 2. I would give it a go. If you are looking for Fargo, just go watch Fargo. It's nothing like it.

Fun and (S)Laughter
Prismark1027 July 2019
The first episode of Tin Star had a shock opening before going back one year.

Tim Roth is Jim Worth. A British detective, a recovering alcoholic who has relocated with his young family to the Canadian Rockies to become the police chief of the small town of Little Big Bear.

The town is feeling the impact of a proposed new oil refinery which will bring workers, environmental pollution and money to the town.

The fate of the Worth family and some of the executives of the refinery are intertwined.

I found the first episode rather slowly paced after the opening moments. It does the thing of setting up its stall with the characters in a remote mountain town. It limps when it should be galloping.

You sense that this could be dark and twisted like Twin Peaks but I did not feel it. More a third rate tribute act.
