I've been a NCIS fanatic for many years, but I finally have confidence to write what I truly think of this wonderful show. There is no doubt that how the team works at NCIS is phenomenal, but in my experience the show has not been the same since Ziva left.
After her departure, the stories and characters of the show unfortunately tend to be watchable, though not as great or complicated as they previously where. I enjoyed the 12th, 13th series, but the 14th season was in my mind the most unimpressive of the show with its same old plot points we have seen over hundreds of times before.
The 15th season though starts decent with "House divided". Let's look at positives first.
. The story here is quite compelling. There are good action scenes, twists that work and feel well done.
. The acting is usually wonderful. I absolutely adore Mark Harmon as Gibbs, Sean Murray, Emily Wickersham and Wilmer Valderrama are also good.
. There are some tense moments and feel of dread in this episode, which helped the scenery a lot.
Overall, "House Divided" is very watchable, but there are things to be said about the problems.
.My biggest issue with this episode is the fact that it just doesn't fit as the premiere of the 15th season. In my opinion, "House divided" could have easily been at the end of the previous series. It would have made a lot more sense too in terms of the themes of fatherhood with Tim and gruesome torture.
. Also, there are couple of moments, where the humor (which I normally don't criticise- being a person whose jokes no one laughs at,except myself) does come of quite inappropriate. Especially the one about payphones- I mean: what was that about :)
. To end it all, the final twist of who is supposed to be the killer, feels bit weak ( I did suspect that person very early on.) When we are going to stop with a twist in which turns out that once innocent looking bystander committed the murder?
Overall, a fine watch, but the writing can come of bit sloppy at times.
