An Improvement From Last Season
rdeleonor2 January 2017
They stepped up everything this season. It felt like the actors are trying to embrace their character more, their interactions are much better, the relationships is starting to really develop. The spirit and tone of the material are still there. The final scenes where edgy which makes me more excited for the upcoming episodes. Visually, it feels cinematic — there are textures that give the show more reality to it. The stunts are more aggressive, there is gore to it which I like. To the VFX — it was great to see the institute's exterior, the portals are different, Magnus's magic and cats eye is a great upgrade from the last season. Production design was broadened. I'm really glad that this season was an improvement from last season which makes me happy that the showrunners are giving the show it's potential. I really love the world Cassandra Clare created and i would like to see this characters on more seasons to come!

Great Start to A Great New Season

Warning: Spoilers
I was very pleased with all the adjustments they have made to the show, from special effects to the more serious darker tone of the plot. I'm really looking forward to the rest of it. Valentine and Jace scenes were intense and the struggle Jace is facing with his morality is interesting. Alex's anger was a little over the top. I felt they could have toned that down a bit. Clary's darker red hair was a welcome sight and seemed more natural. Jocelyn, who mostly got to sleep through Season 1, has the potential to turn into a very interesting character in conflict with her children. I was impressed with her in this episode. All in all, I'm very happy with the start of this new season.

When they said season 2 was going to be better, they weren't lying
edacheeky2 January 2017
Wow. When they said season 2 was going to be better, they weren't lying. The acting has improved so much that the two main actors with the worst acting in season 1 became the two best actors of this episode. The story jumped right into the juice immediately. The show is much darker, realistic and brutal than in season 1 and that is something evident from the very beginning of this episode. There were lots of nods to the books, more than I was expecting and that was very satisfying as a fan of the books. The relationships between the characters is excellent. The look of the show is much more appealing and dark than season 1. The new SFX are definitely much much better (and very visually appealing) than the SFX of season 1 (which made me cringe). I liked how there was an excellent balance between focusing on the relationships between the characters as well as the plot in this episode. It was much less predictable than season 1 (and this is great, coming from a fan of the books). When I finished the episode I immediately wanted to watch the next one. I can tell that season 2 is going to be amazing! If you were not a fan of season 1, definitely give season 2 a shot. I can't wait for episode 2.

need urgent improves

Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasn't my favorite. My first review is in the performance of Matthew Daddario, who had an excellent performance in the first season, now is facing the challenge of showing the affliction and despair of Alec, who is doing everything he can(and can't) to find his parabatai, Jace. Even we know that he is suffering, he cant transmit his feeling to us, and this is his biggest mistake. When it comes to Malec, they don't fail. The chemistry between Harry and Matthew really improved(if it's possible), and that was the highlight of this episode. Dominic, also wasn't in his best days. During much of his appearance in the episode he always presented himself very unaware of the situation that was included, his positioning, manner of speaking even his performance left to be desired. Maybe if he showed himself fearful when near Alan Sprang, or even if the positioning of the cameras was different, we could have a better perspective on the confrontation between the two. What made me more intrigued was the end. Maybe they will work on this in the future, in a possible betrayal of Jace, but even so, this was very poorly presented in the scene. I hope the cast will work on these details, because as a fan of the series, I'm not satisfied with what was presented.

I'm out

I don't get why this has so many positive reviews. It's not terrible, but to be good, a lot has to be done.

I watched the previous season, and.. meh. Nothing much, but not totally dull. This one? Well, i'll start and end with: her mother, was better when she was "aslep".

It's overacted, and sooooo "politicaly correct", that I'm going to leave it after this first ep. The movie, was fine. I enjoyed it. But this series.. I'm not going to stick to watch it fade. A lot better shows were cancelled, and I hope this one will to.
