A promising start.

Warning: Spoilers
This new season of 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 begins not with one but two very well written episodes. I was gladly surprised by the many changes that took place for the show to extend.

The episode begins with the funeral of Sigurd and also with many thoughts of concern about Ivar's behavior. The show starts to reveal the new character under the name of 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝 and we see that he's not like the others bishops, he's truly devoted to his people and his religion not only with the book but with the sword too.

The two brothers, Harald and Halfdan say each other farewell by the fact that their dreams aren't the same. Harald still wants to be the king of Norway (greedy bitch) and Halfdan leaves with Bjorn in search for new land on Mediterranean.

Next, we see Floki preparing his boat for a journey only he believes in. Ivar is trying to stop him but he doesn't succeeds. He lets himself on the Gods's hand being affected by the death of his beloved Helga.

The three brothers are planning to siege York and succeeds, this giving them a well built stronghold for defending by the Christian threats. We see a great slaughter in the church which seemed to affect a little Ubbe's thoughts. From this image that the show presented us we can see that Ubbe is more like his father than his brothers. The massacre is ended with the torture of the Bishop who preached in that church.

At the end of the episode we see the landing of King Harald at Kattegat. Lagertha, cautious as usual, starts questioning him until she finds out the truth of his arrival.

A brief review of the events that took place in the first episode of vikings

Great beginning (Minor Spoiler)

WOW! Great to see vikings back again! This season start right where we left off, with Sigurds funeral being the starting scene. It was a great premiere with fantastic acting, the only confusing element was the huge gap between Alfreds actor in season 4 and 5. He looks much older now, it may have been a time-jump, but I can't pinpoint where it occurred. I for one will not let that bother me. Ivar displays his strategic mind in this episode and I absolutely loved the torture scene with the priest, absolutely BRUTAL. Which is just how I imagine Ivar would've been like.

Super-sized start starts superb

Double the pleasure double the fun. Two-hour Vikings premiere rocked. Ivar wins the gold for scariest new son of Ragnar... and then boils it and is now the stuff of my nightmares. Jonathan Rys Myers is a great new Viking opponent. Lagertha continues to rule though I don't think she will for very long with Ivar and all the enemies around her. Excited for this series to be back in a big way. I missed Floki's laugh.

Vikings is lost
darkdementress23 April 2019
Half way through season 4 this show got as lost as floki is. Random sex scenes that take up what could be actually story time, plots that make no sense and random character choices that have no point or meaning..Stop trying to be trendy and be true to what Vikings originally was!

Not a good start

This review will not justify the episode. But I was not pleased by the first episode of season 5. Very bad clipping - and so many scenes that didn't make sense. Why did Largetha have sex with the king of Norway? How did the king he escape - and why do he capture that useless woman to be his queen? How did the king of Wessex and his queen go from living in a sump to gather an army?
