Not As Bad As People Say
e_daneva23 December 2023
The Nightmare After Krustmas was a kinda bad episode. However, it isn't as bad as people say. Really the only thing this episode is missing is humor in the A-plot. Come on, the B-plot is soo funny. A parody of the Elf on the Shelf, it's soo clever. Really just for the B-plot I would give like an 7.8. But unfortunately the B-plot isn't the A-plot. Sophie just came out of nowhere from the series. Well, except the Season 12 premiere, but besides that she really came from nowhere. I mean, after Insane Clown Poppy we really haven't see Sophie at all in that long stretch of time. And at the beginning of the episode we see Krusty skating with Sophie? Just weird. Well, let's consider this. Insane Clown Poppy and The Nightmare After Krustmas ( and When Lisa Met Nelson ) are Simpsons episode that exist in there own tiny Simpsons universe. So I'm saying that those episodes are non canon, like That 90's Show, A Serious Flanders, and The Principal and the Pauper. In all, I give this episode a 5.8 out of 10.

They don't put any interest

The Simpsons used to be great, everybody knows that... From "One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish" (1991) to "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" (1997). Then, Since then, the fall began...

Even when there were episodes that didn't compare with the best ones, you could feel the enthusiasm and passion of the creators. But now, they're don't give a f*ck anymore. The Simpsons are just money for them. How i know? Well, I suppose.

If they really care about the show, they would have taken decisions that favored the show in itself. Like...

* Reduce the number of episodes (Over 20 every freaking season, really!?). We want quality, not quantity.

* Don't take each character to the EXTREME! I don't want a liberal douche, I want a smart & reasonable Lisa; I Don't want a selfish retard man, I Want a father of the family fighter, and little bit fool & innocent too.

* Focus attention in every single character! Just think how many ideas could came from there. Imagine an episode where Flander's sons reveal themselves and leave their faith, or one where the grandpa (sadly) dies, or one where Homer & Marge aren't desperate people for having the last Apple product and they just don't get the new generation technology, and much more.

There are still more than two seasons left, at this point it seems unlikely, but The Simpsons must reform their formula If they want to give it an end to the height of what was once, not this mediocre zombie show.

An Evil Elf on the Shelf?
orbital-1334429 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
More interesting ideas have come from Pinterest. The show is just terrible.

My favourite all-time show hasn't been funny in a decade.

Why would Krusty convert? A Frozen parody for a few unfunny minutes?

Just terrible...

A Sweet, Fun Christmas Episode,
lesleyharris303 June 2017
The Nightmare After Krustmas is a terrific Simpsons episode with a very well developed plot and plenty of great, funny moments. It's a very layered Christmas episode, with a lot more depth than some of the previous ones in the last few years. We see Krusty trying to prove his daughters' worth to her, while Reverend Lovejoy loses his religious spirituality. The episode gets significantly more interesting when the two plots come together, and it makes both stories stronger for it.

The only issue I would have is that the episode lacked heart. The Christmas specials usually have some tear inducing moments where we see a close family bond, but there is really nothing like that here, it is a little motionless.

The sequences with Maggie were also very effective. As Maggie is given an elf doll, her fear of it lets her imagination get the better of her. The sequences are very animated short- esque, likely inspired by The Longest Daycare, I hope to see more of Maggie's misadventures.

A multi-layered twenty minutes that are well thought out. Well written and very fun, The Nightmare After Krustmas is a stellar Simpsons episode.

Krusty and his daughter spend an eventful Christmas with the Simpsons, meanwhile, after losing passion with his work, Reverend Lovejoy tries to add to his congregation.

Do the writers know anything about Zoroastrianism?
kevin-mcc12 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The writers clearly know nothing about Zoroastrianism. Where they got their facts is beyond me. Ahura Mazda is God, not the top god... Why is Mazda a drunk? I do not understand this reference at all. Are they referring to Haoma, the sacred drink made from Ephedra? That is not alcohol... And the one pray to get you in to Zoroastrian Heaven, well that is not what they believe. Your Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds are weighed against your Bad Thoughts, Bad Words, and Bad Deeds. And to get in to heave you must have more good than bad. If you are going to write about something, do some worthwhile research and not sound ignorant.
