I could do with more episodes
deloudelouvain9 February 2017
Time Traveling Bong is a funny comedy that has potential to run longer than just three episodes. You could go anywhere in time to make great hysterical episodes. I don't know why they only made three. Is it because of the budget, or because people didn't start watching this show, I don't know. But you could definitely do more with this concept. A concept that sounds ridiculous but as a light comedy for stoners it works perfectly well. Ilana Glazer and Paul W. Downs are a good couple to make you laugh in Time Traveling Bong. To me the scenes could be more graphic, it wouldn't bother me at all, and I think it would make the show even better. The special effects are a bit lame but it doesn't really matter because that's not what this show need or is about. Too bad there are only three episodes.

silly but ha ha every now and then
wrigco28 August 2023
I was waiting for the next episode of this series when I read that only 3 episodes were made. It's currently on repeat and I'm watching it again.

Frankly, it's just so silly and out there that you can't help but be amused. It's not trying to be some world class science fiction entertainment, just a story about two stoners accidentally time travelling every time they light up their bong. Obviously they get into ridiculous situations where everyone speaks modern American slang, even in Salem during the infamous witch hunts.

Not to be taken seriously and they could easily have made more episodes for some more giggles.

broad time travel

Warning: Spoilers
Cousins Sharee (Ilana Glazer) and Jeff (Paul W. Downs) bike to buy food after smoking some weed. They encounter two futuristic people killed by a douche driver. The cops don't care. The cousins find a time traveling bong and use it. It gets broken and the pair gets lost in time.

These acerbic clueless characters are not necessarily appealing to everyone. The immediate comparison is Ilana's other partner Abbi Jacobson. Ilana remains the same and Paul is essentially similar to Ilana. Abbi is a sweeter partner. There is a balance in that partnership which is missing in this. This is weirdly outlandish and gets a bit random. Michael Jackson could have been funnier. They could have done more with the kid. Broad City fans will probably enjoy this.

I have good taste in just about everything and I like this show
markmelsh26 November 2019
If you don't like it, sorry, you have a deformed and underdeveloped sense of humor. This is like The Time Tunnel from the 1960's and later Quantum Leap from the 1980's but it's a comedy. The Michael Jackson episode was especially clever. Not surprisingly, it didn't last long. Most people don't have excellent taste. In anything. So trust me, it's funny, unless you are culturally bankrupt to begin with or a swing voter who believes what politicians say or somebody who actually likes commercials or thinks reality shows are real.

My seven out of 10 has a reason.
SirArtemis2 May 2024
I would rate this show 15 stars if I could simply because it is clever as can be and Outside of the norm. The only reason to get seven stars from me is because they only made three episodes and wham Bam done. One theory I have is the title they settle on is absolutely offputting to far too many average TV surfers looking for something intriguing sounding. I am a bit of a daredevil I guess ha ha because the only reason I decided to press play was the title.

I was so prepared for terrible acting and most likely childish stupid script, but wow, total opposite of what people would think. The simple three episode show that I popped in and out of in simply an hour renewed my faith in searching for extremely auto or unknown titles and never letting reviews get the best of me at all. After all I am in charge of simply pushing stop or the home button if I start something that is truly not worthy of being aired. There are reviews of this show that I hope maybe the creators/producers or whoever may aggressively pursue inventing this thing and here's an offering on a new title... "The Marijuana Diaries: A TRIP through TIME" You're welcome and I will be waiting👍🏻

These two have great chemistry and make for big laughs
miklddy20 April 2016
Ilana Glazer and Paul W. Downs of their hit show 'Broad City' have created a 4/20 comedy special called "Time Traveling Bong," and it's hilarious.

These two leads have great chemistry together and are so fun to watch as they travel through time together, ending up in ridiculous situations. If you're a history buff, a marijuana advocate or a fan of comedy, you'll find Time Traveling Bong enjoyable.

It may not be as funny as Broad City, but it's hilarious none-the-less. Ilana Glazer has grown a large fan base very quickly and Time Traveling bong will only bring in more. This 3 episode special is worth watching and you could definitely expect some good laughs throughout. Kick back, pack a bong and enjoy the crazy adventures and witty situational-comedy.

Amazing writing and performance
helloiamedy25 September 2016
I have been a fan of broad city for a long time, and if you too, then you will instantly understand Ilana and Paul characters, but I don't think you need to watch broad city to enjoy these characters, because their can stand out on their own.

I must say that the writing in this series is very funny. My favorite part is Michael Jackson scene, its one of the most brilliant writing in comedy (applause to Ilana's partner Abbie Jacobson from Broad City who pitched this idea). They are not just focusing on delivering funny lines, but also tackling some issue like race, women, and equality. The acting in this series also very outstanding, I can't imagine anyone else doing their lines of joke, their acting put the jokes into another level, I don't think it will be funny if it wasn't them who do it. One thing that I hate is that the series is only 3 episodes, I wish it was longer, but it is still fine with me.

I don't think this show for everybody, but I do think if you watch this with open mind, you will find joy through their characters. And when you do find the joy watching this series, I suggest you to watch Broad City, you will thank me later.

Slanderous
newconceptmagazin23 November 2021
I understand it's a fictional show, but if you include actual historical characters and genuine slanderous accusations leveled against them, it's still a subject of discussion, with no evidence. Then that's just poor writing.

A time traveling bong - it's exactly what you'd expect
ScoobySnacks6626 September 2018
Okay, so maybe it's a bit of a rip-off from Hot Tub Time Machine, but damn this show is funny! I'm so disappointed they only made 3 episodes because it's really, really funny. Like laugh-out-loud funny. Ilana Glazer is hysterical playing a millennial time-traveler stuck in various time periods where women were basically treated like garbage. The situations and gags are realistic but also completely immature and mostly hilarious. I hope Time Traveling Bong gets a second season at some point - I need more belly laughs in my life and Glazer is the female equivalent of Seth Rogen, but she might even be funnier. Comedy gold.

This is a show for drunken trailer park trash
samuelglockta29 August 2016
To be honest i did not watch a whole episode of this. This garbage is unwatchable. I fast forwarded through two episodes to find exactly what i expected.

The actors are not even trying, because there is no reason for any acting. The script ... i do not know if they even had any or just took randomly costumes out of the closet and talked profane bullshit to it. The jokes are like a very very bad reenactment of 90s slacker movies and not funny at all. (unless you are trailer park trash and completely drunk your brains away with a mixture of moonshine and antifreeze)

The rating of shows like this is the reason why you know that there is a way to rig the IMDb ratings. Unless more then half of the users of IMDb are drooling idiots this show would never get more then a two out of 10. And the only reason for this two instead of one is that there are for sure some 13 year old boys who are fans of blurred tits and cavemen rape jokes.
