Don't Believe The Negative Reviews
Geeta35215 September 2017
I enjoyed Raabta because I like Sushant and Kriti. The chemistry between them was obvious and a joy to see. This movie contained some humorous scenes and just okay scenes, but all in all, it is deserving of at least one complete watch. I've already watched it twice and I intend to watch it again, because it is better than or equal to many of the love/romance movies coming from Bollywood today.

The Movie was literally Kha"Raab-Ta"
pranayjalvi12 June 2017
Personally, I feel that we are now way past a stage in Bollywood, to rely on scripts dealing with 'punar janam' unless, there's something really unseen in it. Raabta comes across as a mishmash of a contemporary love story that suddenly changes to an unlikely twist of Game Of Thrones. While the makers try hard to change the whole angle of Rajamouli's Magadheera, it doesn't really get any better. The only saviour in the movie was its Soundtrack with instant hits like Ik Vaari and Raabta sung by Arijit. There was a lack of chemistry between Sushant and Kriti and this add to the disappointment of 'Raabta'. Avoid this one and the save your money. 'Raabta' is strictly no to watch in theatre.

My Rating : 2/5

jainsaransh-8063110 June 2017
First of all if u are a sushant singh rajput fan(like i WAS) after byomkesh and dhoni, then believe me you don't wanna see this.this movie is just terrible from the start and u know in the halftime that u are watching one of the worst stories ever shown.the dialogues are bad, acting is worse, the screenplay is average but the direction and story are disastrous.the characters specially of the villain is unbearable.the back story was dull and the meetings after reincarnation completely baseless. nothing is better in the movie except songs(which u can watch for free on youtube). If u are planning to watch this movie then please DON'T.

Connection is short circuited
dineshprakash9 June 2017
There was nothing in the name of story. It is most conveniently conceived movie about reincarnation. Screenplay offers some freshness in beginning like, ice cream being swapped between lead pair very casually but then it starts being repetitive. Dialogues are good at places. Love triangle comes and the spark of freshness turns into bitterness. The actor who was introduced as third angle is unbearable. His characterization is purely baseless. Film back ground is set abroad and clearly lead girl is very comfortable with English then why this third angle was trying to converse with her in typical Hindi, when he was not a bit comfortable with Hindi!! Just for audience sake!? All dialogues he mouthed, you have to bear and most of the time you feel different emotions than it was meant. Second half takes you into flash back of some ancient era. This flash back is so dull that even being full of actions going on screen, you have to yawn and stretch. Even you fail to understand the reason of all the happenings. Then they toss childish climax. Performance wise Sushant Singh Rajput as Shiv is impressive. He is so swift with the emotions as a flamboyant and subtle as a warrior. Kirti Sanon as Saira is good in romantic scenes but looks confused in flash back scenes.

Super "pakao" stupid movie
butravi28 May 2021
Very bad writing or direction. Total waste of Europe location. It's like a mix of milk and salt.. spoils movie experience. Especially the last half of the movie.

Two people are chased by gun carrying henchmen, which is supposed to be suspenseful... But director tries to mix comedy dialogue during this chase.. unbelievably stupid mix. This is just one stupid aspect of this movie.

The villian is boring.. dialogues too. I don't think anyone with basic intelligence can sit through this movie without scratching their head in irritation. So many loose ends too. Can't give 0 rating, it's that bad. Watch at your own risk.

Cheesy & Dramatic
heyhunxd12 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
First half of the film. Lets say I wasn't too impressed. I came to watch mainly for the modern aspect of the story, but I found the characters to be a bit annoying? Shiv has quite a strong personality and comes off very strong, meanwhile Saira is more tolerable. Lets just say the characters are quite intense. Although I may have not liked their characters as much, I did enjoy experiencing their love and relationship. Those were the times I actually enjoyed the characters.

I feel like there was no sense of direction. There was a lot of things happening, as if the director just threw in a bunch of scenes in there to give us an understanding of the characters and their relationship, but it just made the film a bit sloppy.

There is a lot of sound effects in attempt to make the scenes more dramatic but I personally didn't like it. There were sound effects/music in like almost every scene. Some scenes were a bit over-dramatic, where the characters would say their dialogues in a more cheesy than serious tone. Definitely didn't like that because I really wanted some scenes that were more conversational and serious.

The second half however I really enjoyed because it focuses on their modern day story and how it ties into their past lives. Although the modern story failed to gain my interest, the half about reincarnation is definitely worth a watch.

I definitely prefer their past life characters way more than their present day characters, mainly because it was more serious and less cheesy dialogue.

It's not a bad film. Cheesy and a bit over dramatic, but it did get an emotional response from my friend and I. There were times where we were angry, surprised, in awe, and were just like YESSS.

It definitely had potential to be a great film, but anyways great job to the cast on their performance.

So would I recommend it? If you like cheesiness, over-dramatic love stories then definitely. But it you want something more serious with a more complex script and story line, then no. I'd say the film is more directed toward the younger crowd.

A senseless cherish full movie
lingamanenijaswanth29 August 2021
I have no complaints against their acting. Actors performance really created a very healthy environment in the movie. Meeting of Shiv & Saira, their chemistry is just amazing to watch and admire. The thing I really felt senseless is the script. The script is like they get reincarnated to win their love, is just mad. Even fairytales have a better story. Working of love in present life I felt so beautiful to see but senseless reincarnation ruined the story. To create some drama, I say reincarnation can be replaced by little misunderstanding due to Zakir interference in between, movie would definitely be far better.

Weak story covered up by excellent acting
jaideepkhanduja15 August 2020
Though story is not that strong but the shortcoming is completely fulfilled by excellent acting by Sushant Singh and Kriti Sanon. Deepika Padukone is a total waste in the number song as she had no fire and no charismatic compliance that was required with that song. The second half of the movie is quite interesting and more gripping.

Direction: First Movie directed by Dinesh Vijan and he completely blew it off!!!

Acting: Only Sushant Singh Rajpoot Did a so called "Acting" and that's not enough too. Rest of the cast members were just messing around.

Music: The only saving Boat in the sea full of Mud.

Raabta means 'Connection', but ironically the film fails to connect with the audience.
binducherungath12 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Raabta, a film by producer turned director Dinesh Vijan, attempts the same old formulae of reincarnation. But films with reincarnation concept are very much made in the past as well viz. Mehbooba, Om Shanti Om, Karan Arjun, Karz, Ek Paheli Leela etc., a few of them being successful films and a few others did not do so well. According to Dr. Brian Weiss, a Past-Life Regression Therapist and author of many books, the souls move in families. Certain inputs from him convey that destiny will place us in a particular circumstance, which will encounter with a particular person at appointed time and place. This will happen with every person we have chosen to bring into this lifetime. The film Raabta has such protagonists, coincidences bring them together, but somehow the treatment given to the idea is not at all new and not different. The whole concept of reincarnation is dealt in a very lousy manner. The very meaning of Raabta is 'Connection' and unfortunately audience may hardly be able to connect with the film.

Shiv (Sushant Singh Rajput) travels (or moves) to Budapest along with his best friend Varun. Shiv is supposed to be a banker, but one hardly sees him beyond chasing / flirting with girls, partying etc. He meets Saira (Kriti Sanon) who runs a Chocolate store. Both of them feel instant connect with one another. Saira does get nightmare of getting drowned. She often wonders why she gets these dreams. Saira's character is developed as the one who is confused, although apparently cool. Zakir (Jim Sarbh) , a liquor baron, enters into the scene and events take a different turn altogether. And as it is predictable, the lives of Shiv, Saira and Zakir are intertwined from the past life itself. A love comet is also scheduled to fly across the skies for the first time in 800 years. The film takes us to their past lives. And there we get to see Rajkummar Rao in a very much unrecognizable get up. In fact, certain elements in the past life story is not very well developed. The story weaving is very poor.

How Shiv, Saira and Zakir were connected in the past life? What purpose was left behind that the paths of three of them cross ?

Sushant has certainly evolved a great actor but in Raabta he goes overboard at times, his acting looks a bit superficial. Kriti Sanon is beautiful and her character is almost consistent in her nature, be it in past life or present life. But could not find her character getting developed. The on-screen chemistry between Sushant and Kriti might have looked great, but this is not explored appropriately. Jim Sarbh (Neerja fame) is OK. Overall the actors are trapped in a confused plot.

The cameo by Deepika Padukone shaking her legs on the title song Raabta does not do any good to the film.

Raabta means 'Connection', but ironically the film fails to connect with the audience. The same old concept of reincarnation is dealt in a very lousy manner. The actors are trapped in a confused lot.

One of Bollywood's Worst Reincarnation Movies
NerdyBirdie28 July 2017
After classics like Karan Arjun, Om Shanti Om, and Karz, it's safe enough to say that Bollywood has established a good set of movies on the topic of reincarnation. If the story, characters, and purpose of reincarnating are interesting enough then Bollywood reincarnation movies are always well worth the watch.

Unfortunately, Raabta is the worst Bollywood reincarnation film I've ever seen. During the last half I was fighting the urge to turn the movie off. It's quite obvious that it's meant to be a parallel of the Telugu film, Magadheera. While Magadheera was quite interesting, Raabta fails miserably.

The love story of Shiv and Saira was not enough to have me invested in them at all. And at times I even found Saira to be a flat character. Her actions were quite predictable and she didn't have that spark that most reincarnated characters have.

I don't even know where the begin with the historical setting. It was very terribly done. I'm not exactly sure what point in Indian history the director of this film was trying to show. The costume and look was not similar to those during the time period portrayed at all. Even that love story was dull for me.

I feel like Jim Sarbh's character was quite pointless. His character also didn't have that spark for me. His character was ridiculous in both the first life and the second one.

I would highly recommend fans of Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput to pass on this one. As talented as they are, they're not enough to save this movie. The only thing I would recommend is the movie's soundtrack which is available on YouTube.

RAABTA - A Disastrous Reincarnation Plot.
Rahul14312518 June 2017
1. SUMMARY: RAABTA tells the story of two lovers Shiv (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Saira (Kriti Sanon) who live in Budapest. Once they both go to a party where Saira meets Zakir (Jim Sarbh), a wealthy liquor baron. Later, Shiv tells Saira that he has to leave for Vienna for a week. Saira becomes all alone and now befriends Zakir. Zakir takes her to a party and gets her fainted. He takes her to his house and tells her that 100 years ago, they were lovers but did not unite. Eventually, Saira also realizes the fact that she is also reincarnated. Now what happens next, will Saira marry Zakir and leave Shiv? or will she betray Zakir and stay with Shiv?

2. STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES: Story, screenplay and dialogues seem to be good in the first half of the film but becomes a big disaster in the second half for the audience. Overall writers, Siddharth-Garima can to much better than this.

3.PERFORMANCES: Sushant and Kriti's performance in the film was mediocre whereas Jim's acting deserves good appreciation.

4. DIRECTION AND OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS: After producing a few films, Dinesh Vijan has made his directorial debut. His narrative style in this film is not bad, but he has an ability to make a film better than this. Music by JAM8 and Background score by Sachin-Jigar is really amazing, Cinematography by Martin Preiss and Editing by A. Sreekar Prasad and Huzefa Lokhandwala is reasonably good.

5. BOX - OFFICE VERDICT: Raabta has a total budget of 50 crore which seems to be impossible for the film to be a Box-Office "Hit", but has a few chances to recover's cost. Overall, this film is not at all profitable for the distributors but can recover their budget by satellite and various other rights.

6. RATING: Because of the film's weak script and poor hype, I'll give it 1.5/4.

One time watchable flick
ishakmanaf-official9 June 2017
Its a one time watchable movie. Not that entertaining but u can pass the time as reincarnation movies are less in Indian cinemas

Sushant Singh Rajput comes across With Full confident on-screen but he seems to go a notch overboard. There is a hint of Little overacting to most of his scenes. Actress Kriti Sanon looks pretty Hot but in terms of acting its is average. She fails to make her presence felt among the other two actors.

Plot is similar to other historical romantic movies. 1st half is good but second half lags

Overall the movie is okish. One may not regret after watching this as there are no better option than this in theaters now 😑

Remember Love Story 2050 by Harman Baweja & Priyanka Chopra?
zeuszeroes2 August 2017
To make a movie on reincarnation is a risky job for a screenwriter because it mostly fails. Raabta is a classic example to the aforementioned. Weak story-line, substandard acting, awful costumes & make up. Also the limited color palette used to portray the past life does not set the mood. It reflects less research made by the Color Consultant/Cinematographer. In my opinion, "Valley of Flowers" is the best Indian reincarnation movie so far.

Warning: Spoilers
Really Like the acting and chemistry of Sushant and Kriti and Enjoyed First half but not sure why they had to add story of rebirth of characters... Very weird acting and dialogue delivery of villain Jim Sarbh.. I felt he has some mental or pyscho issue in his character that's why he is speaking like this...

Story was weak and villain character wasn't good... only because of good acting of two lead character I gave this rating...

Basically for people who want bollywood version of game of thrones and Magadheera
cptpraveeninphoenixshipw5 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know where to begin. I am basically a fan of this genre (reincarnation, lovers beyond centuries kinda things) but this is literally a rape of that genre. Like I said in the title, the movie is just a mix of a lot of movies in the said genre like Om Shanti Om (the fact that the heroine is afraid of drowning), Magadheera (do i have to explain this considering Allu Aravind who produced Magadheera filed a lawsuit?), Anegan ( the girl gets these visions and the boy doesn't believe it), game of thrones (not story wise but look wise) and Befikre (can't help it but notice the subtle similarities between the first half of Raabta and Befikre) and many more.

Now onto the characters and actors. Let me list them one by one: 1. Sushant as Jilaan and Shiv: The only saving grace I would say. But even he wasn't good enough for this. His Jilaan is definitely a rip off of Khal Drogo.

2. Kriti as Saira and Saiba: Why her is the only question that comes in our mind. She is one of the examples for the fact that beauty alone doesn't make you a good actor. She either overacts or she doesn't act at all.

3. Jim Sarbh as Zakir and Kaabir: I haven't the faintest idea of what he's trying to do in the name of acting. He's neither convincing as a prehistoric warrior or an obsessive modern day lover. Hell he doesn't even look the part.

The only good sequence in this otherwise awful vomit inducing ride of a movie is that race through the Paathar forest between Jilaan and Saiba, which again is destroyed by sleazy and cheesy dialogues.

On the whole, it is a movie that tried so hard to create a connection with the audience but failed miserably.

long movie with a flawed script
beevenkat10 June 2019
#Raabta is another gorgeous-looking, long movie with a flawed script (just like Befikre, ADHM, Rangoon, Mirzya). It needs to be trimmed by 25 minutes. What if you get attracted to a guy in the first meeting itself? What if both of you fall in love? What if you develop a strange feeling for another guy? What if you spend sleepless nights n both these guys feature in your dreams? What if you realise that this is a punar-janam ka rishta, which has been carried forward to this janam? Too many questions but no logical answers. Photography by Martin is awesome. Sushant is fantastic n he should be the sole reason to watch this film. Rating 1.5/5.
