A very different Suit

Welcome to the New World Order.

At least Mike's greasy mop has gone 😉 People saying he was stupid with Gallo - he's in a scary unfamiliar place, even smart people can get tripped up.

The smart guy is now STUPID!
Just-A-Girl-1418 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, so I've come to terms with the fact that Mike went to jail. To be honest that's NOT what I expected and it took me time to accept that but now that he's there I'm a little surprised that he is acting like an idiot. Not just an idiot, a complete idiot! The smartest guy in the world does not know not to trust his fellow inmates? Have he ever watched a movie? I'm not a movie buff so I don't always catch all of Harvey and Mike's references to movies but even I know that you don't share your secrets and feelings with the first inmate you meet because they often have an agenda or some sort of motive. We all know Mike is a good guy and somewhat naive but he was never stupid. I expected more than that. Specifically since he had three days to prepare. He should have spent some of that time checking out who's there so he would at least know who to watch out from. It was still interesting to watch but it was way too predictable.

Orange is the new Suit...
Dr_Sagan14 July 2016
Well, maybe not orange in this case but you get my meaning...

I think "Suits" joined the club of those TV series that had a success and the producers don't know what to do with it.

In the first episode of its 6th season the show and the writers just don't know what to do. You get Jessica, Harvey, and even Louis to get high, hanging around at their, now empty, offices, talking nonsenses.

As far as I'm concerned, the writers could also put them in a kitchen, boiling eggs, or just water, and that spectacle would be far more interesting...

And then there is Mike, who realizes the all-time cliché that "this isn't like you see in the movies!" this is the ..."Real" prison. Yet he gets to be part of the ...lamest prison twist in TV-history!

As it seems the Orange/Prison part will be present for the whole season. So we will see Mike get bullied, maybe starving (like in the Pilot of Orange is the new black), injured, maybe even stabbed or something that will make him visit the infirmary and make friend the good doctor there and so on...

I just don't understand the point of this. You watch this series to see Harvey kicking some butts in the courtroom or in private meetings. To see cleverness and larger than life characters. Now the mighty narcissistic lawyers are crying like little doggies with their tail between their legs.

Overall: Oranges? or should I say ...Lemons.

Excellent

Beautifully done powerful episode. IMHO one of the best of all seasons. I wondered how they would take it from here and keep the intrigue, depth and complexity of story line and relationships on the level of previous seasons and they are off to a brilliant start.

Making full use of the years of history that have so intricately been woven between these well developed characters we are off to what looks like more superb writing, depth of interaction and fully satisfying entertainment.

Well done to the writers, the cast and crew behind them. A well deserved 10.

Takes the show in a new direction brilliantly
kettwolverine18 July 2016
There are a lot of fantastic factors that made this episode so good. 1) The Harvey and Rachel relationship has been done very well and it makes sense that their relationship has strengthened a lot since Mike going to prison. 2) Mike's first night in prison was very well done. 3) We saw a completely vulnerable Jessica which was beautifully showing the true breakdown of someone who has devoted their career and life to something and then have it taken away, with the line 'The ship isn't sinking, it sunk, and i don't know if i have it in me to pull it back up from the bottom of the ocean. And finally Louis getting high for the first time and the gang together was great. i can't wait to see how they play the rest of the season out.

A much different, yet still solid, start.
kemority14 July 2016
Where do I begin?

Aaron Korsh and Co. have proved they know exactly what they're doing, and continue to do so. This episode features the beginning of a story that dives into territory they haven't done yet. Last season brought us new stories, but still maintained the overall theme. If this episode is any indication, we're about to go somewhere entirely new.

The movie references, and quotes, are nothing shy of impeccable. Though I'm a little biased since the movie mainly referenced/quoted is my personal favorite. I was ecstatic when (it appeared) the show-runners agree. I also had to laugh when I discovered an actor formerly featured on my previous favorite show ("24") is likely to feature here substantially. Another well-known actor makes an appearance, though uncredited. I await his character's development.

Also, that twist -- was hoping for something, but did not expect that. Great job. 9.8

Really Disappointing
Hitchcoc31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great setup. Lousy execution. So Mike is facing the music. What does he do when he is confronted by the first guard. He is his usual petulant self, challenging people before he even gets his feet on the ground. And the cellmate. How utterly stupid can one be. And, of course, you can't go five minutes, finding out how things work, before you can't wait to call mama from summer camp. And now, we have another villain, working against Harvey because Mike couldn't keep his mouth shut. Of course, back at the firm, we have the three partners, along with Donna, Rachel, and the Tech Guy (whom they routinely treat like crap, despite his incredible importance), trying to figure out what to do. So what do they do? Oh, the logical thing is to smoke some weed and tell stories. This is to get them to settle down and stop sniping. And Rachel, for God's sake. Can you hang in there for more than one day. You already know what's happened and the possibilities. The call to the prison is ridiculous. He just got there. Oh, well, we now have a whole new set of circumstance to deal with, so let's see if the writers can pull this back together.

Something is off....
videowhiz14 July 2016
I don't know what happen during the hiatus, but something's off. The season 6 premiere is the first episode EVER of Suits that I thought was poorly written. The scenes between Litt, Harvey and Jessica were uncomfortable and painfully unfunny. And what's worse, the plot went nowhere. All of the scenes at the firm could've been consolidated into 5 minutes of actual substance. I really hope this isn't a new trend for this show. New writer? New director? What happened?

Mike's scenes in prison were fine because they were single-character driven. That should continue to be the strongest part of the show. But if they try to use the people on the outside as comic relief, this will quickly become an unwatchable show. I hope they stick to what has worked in the past.

Suits's unlogical drama plots
kaczkahans26 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh, man. I'm really starting to think that Suits puts in drama even if it doesn't make any sense. I mean, why should Mike trust a prison inmate on his first day and tell him everything, give him his girlfriend's phone number etc. That's completely out of character. Why should he believe that his life in prison would be like in films? The good thing about Suits is that actions have consequences, at least sometimes. If Mike had gone out of the trial lightly, I would have found it dumb and I also don't want him to be free too soon but you can't write such nonsense just to have a reason to show him in every episode. What I don't understand is, why the writers decided to imprison him now and not in season 9. I mean, wasn't the whole story supposed to be about the secret and its consequences for everyone? I'm sceptical because what's the point of going on? It would be really lame if Mike became a fraud for the second time, just not as obvious as before. The firm wouldn't even improve their reputation if they hired him as a paralegal. The show is about solving law cases, so I don't know how they want to continue that without telling a bad and unlogical story. I'm getting tired of a face-off between Louis and Harvey almost every time. It's only for drama and makes no sense in terms of story progression. Louis has changed, so why do they need to do that so often? Another big inconsistency is that Harvey is still in business although he shouldn't be. Why shouldn't have Forstman found out that he defended Mike in name of his firm? He seems to have so much influence but it's not enough for that? Yeah.. I don't think that this case will matter in the future and that's ridiculous. The show has plot holes, as all have and that's normal to a certain level where you simply do everything to tell a story with no sense behind it. I feel like Suits has reached this critical point. I don't know if it's worth watching any longer.

Stupid start and poor move along point
chipman200731 December 2021
I get the move along process for tv shows but the 'most intelligent' character acting like a preteen naive prisoner is a stupid premise for a show. Suits can do better than this episode.

So the genius is still naive after 5 seasons
vidaljoaco10 March 2021
Almost fully binged until season 6 because even though it was kinda repetitive (always Hardman or Tanner coming back) i still liked it (I'm a lawyer). Until S06E01 when you see a Michael Ross who's suddenly dumb and (like he had no previous knowledge of how deceiving people can be even though he's been working in an enviroment that taught him not to trust anybody except his mentor) "spills the beans" only in order to be able have a story for S06. For me the series ended at S05 last chapter. It was no Aaron Sorkin's writing but up until now, it was a good ride.

It does suit the character
icowwww13 May 2022
In all previous seasons i have watched the series without expecting how will they turn out. Thats why i like the series.

I just have started season 6 with first episode and i'm not really happy with the story. I have figured out what will happen, but the main character acted unlike himself too naive even for outside of such dangerous place as prison.

I also does not feel very happy, because the story is getting.a little bit slow-moving. I believe that the main concept was having alot of hard problems each series, which the main characters overcome with a win in classy way and watching them makes you motivated. But it feels like now the solutions of the problems, which they have to care of, takes alot of time and the same subject is passing through alot of episodes, making them less intresting.

This makes me feel i get less of what makes me enjoy the series at all.

This is my point of view.

Poorly written
tqnnqsg12 February 2024
Ok so this episode is dumb. Trust no one is like a prison motto & even though Mike didn't come from the streets he should have enough smarts to know to keep his head down and his mouth shut.

The show's creators and writers should know better than to insult the intelligence of the audience. I've binged 5 seasons & it is a repetition of revolving bad guys and Litt screwing up, then redemption and screwing up again and then getting another chance - it really shouldn't be an episode that sucks this bad. I'm going to find this shows arc painful. It's certainly going to get predictable with the firm hatching a plan to get Mike Ross out of prison. With him being a central character, the audience knows that this is what is going to happen at some stage in the season. I guess the choice is to bear with it. Or not finish the series or just skip the episodes until Mike is free. I may go with the latter.
