Loved it! GRRRL Power!

A moving documentary about the precarious position of female musicians in a still male-dominated music industry. Fun to watch, entertaining and thought -provoking as well. The musicians were shown with much sympathy, honesty but without ever exposing them. Usually I am not a fan of gritty black-and white imagery and shaky camera but I thought the music and superb editing really made up for it.

Spinal Tap for real!

Probably the best music documentary I have seen in a while. At first I thought this was an elaborate hoax! But a bit of googling revealed this to be true!!! The only film I could compare it to would be Spinal Tap. Watch it to believe it. I think this is a must for a music lovers!!

This neatly crafted film pushes the envelope of what the phrase music documentary might mean. Inventive, infuriating, compelling, bemusing, but never boring, these amazing characters make for fascinating viewing. More generally, Das Wassup offers a real insight into the way that this part of the music industry operates and its ups and downs. A roller coaster of emotions. Intelligent film.

Didn't expect to love it this much (not really my kind of music and I'm not a fan of black and white). I loved how raw and honest it portrayed these women yet it never felt voyeuristic or exploiting in any way. I thought it was a moving and intimate portrait. I want more of these kind of independent/ low budget/ underground-documentaries!
