A sad, subtle, resonant drama
shakercoola11 September 2018
A Canadian drama; A moving story about a woman struggling to cope with the onset of the neurodegenerative disorder Parkinson's, and her son coming to terms with his identity and sexuality. The film is all about the performances, especially soft-spoken Shirley Henderson and her delicate performance. The characters seem very well observed in how they cope with grief, trauma and circumstance - a mutual appreciation for one another. These people are good people and it is refreshing the way the drama unfolds.

Shirley shines
SnoopyStyle16 August 2021
Judy (Shirley Henderson) is struggling with Parkinson's disease which leaves her shaking constantly. She and her husband have their sensitive son Jamie (Théodore Pellerin) caring for them. Jamie gets a job in the oil & gas fields and moves away from home. Both mother and son struggle in their own isolation.

This is a tender, quiet film of internal personal drama. Shirley Henderson delivers a powerful performance. Pellerin has a troubled sensitive feel about him and he's very good in his half of the movie. New filmmaker Kathleen Hepburn is steady without anything flashy but it is Shirley who truly shines.
