A crime thriller slacker film style

Couldnt really tell how I came across this film, but it was a pleasant and peculiar discovery. I watched it without any prior knowledge of it and I think thats the best way to go into it. Dont read my review if you havent watched the film yet. The plot isnt much more than the imdb synopsis says, but of course plot is only part of what any film can offer. This one had great cinematography, soundtrack, the lead actor is handsome and interesting to look at, even locations, props and costumes I thought were excellent in a way that seems very common place but still manages to create a stylised copy of reality. A string of discrete scenes kept me wondering about the motivations and character of the protagonist but the tone of the film is such that we are not emburdened to draw conclusions, just observe the filmic action unfold. The pacing of the film kept on delivering new encounters, new details in a way that was very well controlled and almost rhytmical and never left me bored. A stylish and well fitted ending. The aura of the film is difficult describe, it is both mundane and fantastical as the character never comes across any tangible difficulties or consequences other than fits. Was really surprised this was made by a group of high schoolers as I could not name one wrong with this film (which is rarely the case). One could argue there were some continuity issues but I think the film addresses them elegantly and almost with tongue in cheek before anyones the wiser (I mean the drifters beard being at different lengths that defies logical flow of time - and shaving being a sort of obssession, as well as repeated focus of clocks - unless we go a little meta and take into account that the film had been filmed over a course of a year and this whole beard "issue" gives a glimpse into the life of the actor. I think it is a rare occurence that the "real life" pours into a film so persistently, especially this one which on any other account seems highly competent if not professional).
