OJT9 April 2018
I saw the German film "24 Weeks", and the plot is exactly the same. I recommend you checking out that one as well.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

This movie creates a series of questions and situations, shifts back and forth in time, and ends without answering anything. Terrible movie. The ending should have been more clear if it was an intended message concerning the situation.

Almost but not quite there

I'd like to see this film at the San Diego phone festival this weekend and as a person with a disability I was excited to see how the subject matter would be handled. To say I was disappointed with what the baby was diagnosed with is an understatement. As a person who is wheelchair-bound, it is ludicrous to me that a couple would contemplate abortion for something so simple. That being said I did empathize with The hard decisions the couple Had to make throughout the movie. It wasn't a happy ending but it was a realistic one and I was grateful for that.

Great film

This was a tasteful film which provided an intimate window into the complex medical decisions that a family has to make. This film should be shared with medical students and could be a great asset in helping them learn how to be compassionate caregivers.

A compelling relationship drama
bradley-bethel31 January 2018
As many commenters will note, 20 WEEKS presents an original depiction of the challenges expectant couples can face. While that is no doubt a noteworthy aspect of the film, there's much more to it. What I found especially compelling was the subtle patriarchy gradually exhibited by the lead male character, and the way the female lead develops in response. 20 WEEKS is thus not only a film about the challenges of pregnancy but also about the challenges of maintaining a feminist/egalitarian relationship during pregnancy.

Great flick! Strong film.

20 weeks will give you all the feels... I saw it at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival 21 weeks pregnant, about 1.5 weeks after my own scan (all good news)... but I was really taken on the journey and sobbed a lot ... in the theatre ...openly ...mostly in part to the powerful acting. The story is strong and unfolds beautifully. The two leads were phenomenal and real and raw. I highly recommend checking out this film ... I wasn't sure what to expect with the ending, and was not disappointed.

So You Think You Want a Baby
kiwifreund9 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have a middle-aged male friend who wants a child. He doesn't actually like children. He wants a partner who is young and doesn't have children of her own already because he only wants his own child or children. He thinks that after the child/children reach 6 months of age, it's going to be "easy." This movie reminds me of him. It's that huge ball of denial that genetic anomalies don't happen - because they do. The scientific advances we have made in testing during gestation have been a blessing and a curse, because now we know what may or may not be developing, and sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. Everything can't be avoided. What do you do if your baby is born with something that wasn't detected, or can't be cured? Aren't every single one of us imperfect? Isn't it possible to love or care for another human being, even if it doesn't have perfectly formed fingers, which was merely the possibility in this movie? If my friend is ever in this dilemma in real life, I think the result would be the same as in this film.

Poetic and Moving
StephenSyails16 August 2021
I was struck immediately and deeply moved by the cinematography of "20 Weeks." The non-linear storytelling is poetic. I would like very much to read the screenplay, if it becomes available. The film is beautifully crafted. I applaud the filmmakers. Leena Pendharkar is a marvelous talent, and I look forward to seeing more of her work. I confess, I am a great admirer of Emily Schweber, whose casting is right on point. Anna Margaret Hollyman gives a heartfelt and generous performance. Exceptional, meaningful, heartbreaking, and impressive work.

Intelligent Film That Makes You Think
morgan_lariah19 December 2018
I saw this film at the LA Film Fest and was blown away. The performances are compelling and the plot emotional and complex. I left the theater and thought about the film for days afterward. To me, that is what makes a film great or not - did it change your opinion or help you see the world in a different way? This film definitely did that for me. Highly recommended!
