Back to the grind
Mr-Fusion19 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
If last week felt like somewhat of a pause from the season's overall arc, breaktime's over; the Pastor Tim fiasco comes roaring back with a vengeance. The guy's missing in Ethiopia, his wife's seeing red and threatening to turn in Philip and Elizabeth. Even after he's been found unharmed, Alice is still a wild card to be addressed. Martha's gone but her disappearance is a nagging hole; and on top of that, another recurring character meets an unfortunate end.

Sadly, the Jennings' cover is under continued threat, and there's no easy way out.

Strong and compelling episode
snoozejonc2 March 2021
Alice delivers some disturbing news about Pastor Tim and Gadd runs into trouble in Thailand.

This is a strong episode depicting events that could potentially drive the plot in some new dramatic directions. It also focuses heavily on characters to the usual high standard of the series. I will avoid plot details not to spoil, but the two characters who are out of the country have a big impact on characters back in the US.

There are some subtle moments that are very well edited, such as a conversation between Phillip and Paige early on that intercuts with a scene involving Elizabeth. Also a scene with Kimmie that reflects perfectly on Phillip's feelings about what Paige is going through. The final scene is a brilliant exchange where one character asks another a question and found myself utterly compelled when awaiting the answer.

All cast are on great form as ever, with Holly Taylor having some excellent moments. This is an example of a very well presented teenage character who I continually have empathy with in a difficult situation.

What you talking about, Willis...

This episode fairly depicts another day in the life for the Jennings family, it doesn't punch in much until the very moment someone, still young and inexperienced, starts to realize the full extent of what in physics goes by as The Third Law of Newton: To any action corresponds a reaction. That moment is memorably summarized by the fast train of thoughts finally being condensed into speech: What are you going to do there? You can't be russian spies in Russia!

The freaking out train of thoughts becoming a monologue makes this episode worth watching.

Terrible way to go

Warning: Spoilers
I hate the way they wrote off Rixhard Thomas' Gaad. It was completely unnecessary to kill him off that way, or even at all. He deserved more respect than the way his character went out. So stupid. Why couldn't they have just let him be written off where he's just in retirement?

Some of the plots for this episode just felt a bit like some bad writing, which is rare for this show.
