One Of The Better Films From Pakistan If Not The Best

Salam , Just watched Balu Mahi few days back i was so confused to watch it or not because Pakistani movies were going no where from past few months especially in 2016 and i also heard that first Pakistani movie of 2017 named "Thora Jee Le" was pathetic but still i gave Balu Mahi a chance and OMG i was shocked & literally blown away , from start to finish this one was fully entertaining movie which had drama , comedy , thrill , Romance etc etc . From opening scene where Balu ( Osman Khalid Butt ) is shown sitting in car is brilliant and the back ground score is amazing beautiful music by Sahir Ali Bagga , all songs are exceptional and best music from any Pakistani Movie along With Bin Roye. The story spans beautifully and most importantly the beautiful locations shown in the movie from Lahore to Hunza and all other places shown are beautifully captured by the camera man hats off also the cinematography is great loved the scenery . Coming to acting Osman Kahlid Butt looked so charming and totally in control of his character all expressions with which he acted shows his talent he has a long way to go , Ainee Jaffery was also looking cute and beautiful in some scenes she acted brilliantly rest of the cast did their part so well and supported the lead stars. Music from Sahir Ali Bagga is best from any Pakistani Movie till now the two best songs are Rang De Chunar and Tu Kia Jaane sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Sahir Ali Bagga respectively. Overall full Paisa Vasool Movie it's a must watch for all Pakistani's its a movie which will give a very strong push to Pakistani Cinema and Believe me it's a classy movie and comparable to any Bollywood flick level. Hatsoff to the director Haissam Hussain for making a very bubbly and entertaining movie , we want more good movies like this . So my Overall score for Ballu Mahi is 7.2/10 , Acting : 7.5/10 , Music : 10/10 , Direction :8/10 , Cinematography : 10/10 . A Job well done

It is very entertaining Romantic movie Ainay Jafferi acted really well...all other too acted nicely its not like waar or 021 high rated craps and worst movies of Pakistan.

Believe me its very fine movie you will find it very interesting

Absolute junk. Waste of time. I didn't think our films could be worse than the TV dramas. I was so wrong.

I don't know who these filmmakers are trying to copy. No story. Our films in no way depict the everyday life in our country. They should learn a thing or two by watching Iranian films. Simple yet beautiful.

A visual treat!

I watched the movie in nueplex cinema Karachi.In the early phase,story seemed to be familiar but it wasn't the case as the movie progressed.Visual and sound quality was excellent and cinematography was superb. Acting was up to the task and screenplay was original and better than most of the Pakistani Movies.Songs were surprisingly refreshing and well poised with the story apart from 1 song which slightly mismatched.length of the movie could be adjusted and few emotional scenes could be intensified.Overall the movie was a treat at its Max with exceedingly handsome Hero, fairly beautiful Heroine and a seductive mermaid...

Painfully bad

After watching Netflix's 'Love per Square Foot' I was in mood for another international romantic comedy so I checked this one out. It started off well, over the top acting, but I thought it could be funny but instead it's just painful to watch. The lead actress was absolutely terrible. I have not seen this much over acting since ever. The lead actor was mediocre, but the actress really spoiled the film because the story moved forward due to her. The scenery was good but there were too many continuity errors. e.g.in one part of the movie, the couple run away from the bride's family at the train station. One moment they are running during the day light with loads of people, and literally the second scene it's night time and there is no one around in the train station, then it was back to running during the day time. In one song, the actress was wearing high heels and in the next scene she was wearing flats, then she was wearing high heels again. It was all too distracting and I am not particularly good at spotting those. The part that was pretty offensive in the movie was when the couple wandered into a church and just proceeded to run around, whilst there were worshippers there. Imagine if they had filmed such a scene inside a mosque? The film could have shown parts of Pakistan we don't get to see, the every day people, instead it was over the top nonsense. I had to switch off.

Balu Mahi is a Sweet Romantic Comedy on par with brilliant Hollywood rom-coms

Never felt more proud of watching & reviewing a Pakistani movie than after watching Balu Mahi. A movie which portrays the correct image of Pakistan in its true sense. Previous Pakistani movies such as Waar,Khuda ke liye have mostly been about the fight against criminals & religious groups. Those movies are great in their own right. However, Balu Mahi is a movie which shows a different, positive & colourful side of Pakistan.It shows that Pakistanis are normal people with normal lives just like everyone else around the globe.It addresses the extremely important issue of women empowerment in a fun, quirky & entertaining manner.The entire cast including Osman Khalid butt, Ainy Jaffri, Sadaf Kanwal,Mohd. Jamal, Mustafa Ali khan. Sir Shafqat Cheema, & Miss Durdana Butt does complete justice to their respective roles. The Chemistry between the lead pair is Ethereal and deserves an encore. The Crew behind this movie has been phenomenal at their job. Haissam Hussain! Hats off! You are a genius. Simply put Balu Mahi is a Masterpiece! Must Watch! 10/10. One minor critic is that the script was not original.But highly entertaining so all is forgiven.

Dreadfully Pathetic

This movie was absolute trash. I feel sorry for the unstable folks who rated it 10, is there a doctor in the house? On a general note, the storyline drifts back and forth over illogical sequences. It's a medley of various Pakistani soaps with no coherence. Osman Butt seems incapable of engaging in any dialogue that doesn't have you thinking that his pet dog has just died? It's the same vague tone and expression for the entire film. In my view, this disasterpiece should be avoided by all.

It's ok watch once movie , but hated over reacting for every single shot.. Grandpa role was stupid.. why was he used that hard core base voice.. They did better movie before and can do good again.. don't bring bull crap stories..

I Love This Movie!

A surprisingly good film. One of the best for 2017 . Enjoyed every minute of it. It captured your attention and kept it to the very end. Great action, direction , music, scenery and superb performances by the lead actor and actress. The storyline held from beginning to end. Highly recommend that you watch it! Kudos to everyone involved in the making of this wonderful romantic comedy!

Alright, Haissam Hussain was the one who made me go for this movie... i knew that the director of the hits like dastaan, kuch pyar ka pagal pan and many more wont let me down and yes he impress me even more than i expect... movie was outstanding. i don't know why it is not getting much publicity may be because few old pakistani bunch movies which could not appear as much as it was publicizing ... or may be our dear cinemas has lift the ban from Indian movies.. or may be trailer is not promising anyway For me after JPNA and Actor In Law.. this is the best pakistani movie i ever watch i am not comparing this with any of the movie.. it is original, beautiful and amazing plus totally paisa vasool

Great casting and premise!

This type of cinema shows the true colours of Pakistani talent. From the casting to screenplay, dialogues and production is outstanding. Unfortunately our audiences don't watch our films as they do with Indian cinema. Towering performances by the lead actors and a scintillating story till the end.

Balu Mahi is that Pakistani film which combines all the elements which a Pakistani audience desires, i.e. drama, romance, comedy and, importantly, a strong social message.

Even the background music is good though they could do without the first Bollywood style number. It just didn't fit in with the rest of the movie.

Balu Mahi is the story of a strong headed Pakistani woman (I didn't know there were any other types?!) coming to terms with conservative societal norms. To escape these familial and social restrictions Mahi runs away from home. Mahi's escape and her subsequent adventures lead to the romance between Balu - her hitherto unknown male accomplice. Her adventures also provide the drama and comedy interludes for the film.

The two leads acted magnificently. A special mention must be made of Ainy Jaffri who played Mahi.

The film is worth watching simply for its strong feminist undertones. Other than one dialogue, the feminism is sohisticated and crafted subtly into the film - making it all the more powerful. It is not 'in your face' feminism which may not appeal to many viewers.

In summary, a great, light film. An easy way to while away 2.5 hours (though it really didn't feel that long).

Balu Mahi is available on NETFLIX in most jurisdictions at the time of writing (July 2018).

I never thought of that Lollywood created this film! I couldn't stop laughing while watching this film and beautiful combination between romantic and comedy!
